“We have no bananas”

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 5:27 pm

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the sunny, pleasant, perfect island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this absolutely stunning day out on the Hyannis/Hyannis Port Waterfront(s)–the 13th day of August, 2015–and a good Thursday evening to you and yours, taking in all that this little sand bar created 11,500 years ago by the Last Great Ice Age has to offer today. Un-plugging from all of the nonsense for just a moment, don’t worry, I will get back to the insanity soon!  Zaniness such as the behavior of constantly giving one’s undivided attention to a 3X5 inch electronic leash ironically coined a ’smart phone.  This reporter observes most people walking around with the device as if it contained some kind of secret code they must crack before crossing a busy street.  As their collective necks bend, turn and twist to catch every Madison Avenue wizard produced Ad; struggling and squinting in blazing sunlight to see or talk to God knows who on such a beautiful day. Staring into an abyss as opposed to experiencing all of this amazing real life all around them at this present moment in ‘time’.  A moment that will never come again and one we all get to share together in this deeply historic, mystic venue. ‘Old world shadows hanging heavy in the air’ indeed. One perhaps missing a Cardinal here or a harbor seal there…

Yes, it seems this nation is joined at the hip with Verizon, Comcast or Turner, or Dish, all being one in the same.  Especially when it comes to getting the truth out regarding the criminal behavior some of our fine upstanding multinational corporations have executed over the decades, lo, centuries.  For so many Americans it seems we are all held hostage to these “Gods”, these ‘titans of industry’, the good folks who bring you the NFL and all, how bad could they be?  Know it or not, many are held hostage to these organizations and they are not even aware that they are in some kind of a weird “Stockholm Syndrome” that rarely defines itself in so many of those uncertain terms and conditions. Conditions that may, or may not, apply to you and your family personally.  If you have any questions of this complexity by design, please contact Roger Ailes of FOX “news”, I am sure that he will be happy to point out all of the detail.  Why not just ring up the scallywag himself from down under? The owner of this world wide propaganda machine, Rupert, “arrrghhh matey!”, Murdoch of “News Corporation”.  I am sure he would be happy to answer any and all inquiries.

Rarely can one turn on a TV and receive a real, objective, fact based, solution driven, every rock under-covered, 70’s “60 Minutes” style, Walter Cronkite ‘CBS Evening News’ presentation.  No sir!  As this would not fit with the new global corporate “mission statement” (owner of said “news” station); one ever of profit over people. Maintenance, vigilance and security of this newly minted status quo is of paramount importance.

Austerity and Ayn Rand’s “The Fountainhead” is our new God!  That and a lust for more”.

A greedy ‘Globalization’ of highly secretive special interests of the very, very few, a complete take over of our civil liberties and the creation of a “New World Order” that leaves democracy with that little letter ‘d’ at the dumpster, with a bullet in the head is the ‘wave of the future’, or so it seems...  The giant multinationals own the media and hence the message, propaganda rather, and thus the truth contained in stories about workers abuse along with many devastating human rights violations that never get to see the light of day in the United States.  Take Dole Fruit Company for example, the world’s largest manufacturer/distributor of fruits and vegetables.   A few years back, there was a big law suit against a Swedish independent film maker/documentary Fredrik Gertten. His controversial film, “Bananas”, nothing to do with funny man Woody Allen I assure you, stirred up a real hornets nest ~2009-2010.  Dole Fruit, it seems, was all up in arms about this documentary film that told the story (the raw, unadulterated truth) of a Nicaraguan horror show when it came to pesticides and what those poisons were doing to the workers harvesting the most lucrative product in the supermarket today, the banana.  The men working the fields were becoming sterile as a result of the pesticides being utilized, with many others were getting sick as well.  Just another example of how that modus operandi and mental illness PROFIT over people continues to manifest itself in the ‘real world’.

The price of the stock and the shareholders best interests, along with those hefty CEO bonuses, is all that  really counts now ‘a days. The ‘fake news’ being read to you by ‘fake journalists’ if you will (not all!), who work the anchor desks at FOX, CBS, CNN, take your pick, are tied to those collective desks by fear and money (”it’s easier to live with a bad conscience then a bad reputation”). Mostly scripted to say and think along a corporate line, and because it is all just one big happy family, a deluded, dangerous and deadly family, well then, who really cares if some Nicaraguan pheasants were hurt?  If Dole pulls those Ads, we don’t get that bonus, you know what I mean?  Bob?

So, it takes the raw guts of journalists, independent film makers like Fredrik Gertten to call these guys out on their horse$hit screaming at the top of their lungs–“this is just not right!” The country of Sweden was behind him all the way, a real David and Goliath story in this day and age of yes men and sniveling money grubbers. Members of Parliament in Sweden were in on the act, with both a conservative and a liberal siding with Gertten. Dole eventually dropping the law suit against the showing of the film in Sweden as well as the U.S., as well as against Mr. Gertten personally.  The documentary about the documentary is also well worth the view–”Big Boys Gone Bananas”–for it exposes the truth to what the devil is going on with the ‘fine print’ these days, is it in that secret storage facility in Utah?  That devil is in there somewhere by gosh, by golly!

Have a pleasant evening…

PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M
