The Marsh Lands

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 7:34 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the great island of Nantucket!  So good, as always, to be with you on this Sunday, the nineteenth day of September, 2010, and as we all ease into our Sunday morning routines, whatever those may be, I hope you have a wonderful day.  My routine, being watching the Sunday morning talk shows, where the “pundits” are ripe with knowledge and innuendo, mixed with a hint of cynical sarcasm.  With some, they will be bringing on full fledged, blatant lies and serve the corporate interests via the flood gates of misinformation designed to keep the general public in a state of constant fear, depression, paranoia and disillusionment…nice way to spend a Sunday huh?  Even on week ends where I sing in my choir at the little seaside chapel by the name of “Our Lady of the Assumption”, here in Osterville, singing because I love music and I believe it heals like no other source of healing, I tape these shows, NBC’s “Meet the Press” and ABC’s “This Week” only, for even the thought of taping FOX NEWS SUNDAY makes me a little nauseous, and study them for clues as to what the TRUTH really is, who is telling it, and where is the conversation going.  I am not the only one, of course, who does this on a “religious” basis, but I do know one thing for sure, most Americans do NOT watch these shows, or any variance therein, and live in a world created for them by big media, you know, the “man behind the curtain.” Think about it for a moment.  Comcast, Verizon, Dish satellite, etc., are just like big oil, big insurance and big banking, they own their respective “airwaves” (cornered the market) and thus, can do or say anything they wish, bringing that mind numbing, thoughtless provoking nonsense to your living room every day and every night.  It is no wonder that the “corporate manufactured tea party”, the bane of this country’s existence, partially created by the billionaire Koch brothers, David and Charles, of Koch Industries, manufacturers and distributors of hazardous chemicals, 596 of them to be exact, that they poison our countryside with via “hydraulic fracturing” of shale rock that is underneath the feet of millions of the “American People” by way of the “natural gas” wells that Koch and other insidious companies like Halliburton (credit: “Dick” Cheney) buy the rights to, from private citizens, and thus, set up these extremely hazardous wells, on their own land, and kill them with the chemicals that leak into the water source–has hoodwinked so many of our citizens in this country, and what’s more, they don’t even know that they have been duped.  If you really want to know who the “tea party” really is, who funds them, who created them, who stands to GAIN if they have any success, you need look no further than a non-fiction book authored by Frank Schaeffer called, “Crazy for God.” This was once a evangelical preacher who was caught up in the whole bulls$it right wing (nut) evangelical movement in the early 1990’s, where he saw what was REALLY going on with politicians and the “word of God” being intermixed with the nation’s business at hand.  Here are just a few of the quotes I wrote down yesterday, as my jaw hit the table, “These tea party leaders are raising money to stoke the flames of hate. It’s disgusting, these people are flakes (Christine O’Donnell being the primary target of this man’s anger), I know, I used to be one of them.  The “tea party” is nothing more than a fund raising operation. The religious right is nothing more than a fund raising operation for a much larger corporate agenda as well as their very powerful special interests groups such as “focus on the family”. The republican party must stand up to these very dangerous, far right extremists, who are often violent, or they will be held accountable.”  What really made this man angry was the fact that these hurtful and hateful words coming from the ignorance of the darker part of ourselves is harming our young men and women in uniform, who are there to “protect” our nation, but are instead being put further at risk, because of the hateful, xenophobic crusaders who are demonizing an entire faith for political purposes, all in the name of Jesus Christ himself.  I contend that if and when Jesus ever returns, and listens to all of the crap being said in His name, he would probably never stop throwing up.  The “tea party” movement is a joke and a scam, a money making, fund raising, brainwashing dangerous organization that is headed by the likes of IDIOTS such as “Dick” Armey, a man, that if you listen to him long enough, on one of these Sunday morning talk shows, you would swear to yourself that you have heard this guy at some BBQ on some Sunday long ago– some old, drunken hack who sounds like he belongs at some insurance seminar while he goes on and on for days about the evils of socialism and finally reveals his sick and demented theories about our very good and decent President of the United States, Barrack Obama–it is time to call these bums out and reveal to the world who and what they are–flakes, snake oil salesmen, haters, and the ultimate hypocrites alive on this little planet today.  May you have a blessed Sunday folks.  PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M
