The day time stood still…JFK
Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the sparkling blue skied and rather mild island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this Saturday morning, the twenty-third day of November, 2013, the day after the 50th anniversary of this country’s most beloved public figure’s death, a leader that needs no introduction, President John Fitzgerald Kennedy. Yesterday did indeed mark that solemn day in Dallas where Kennedy was gunned down by an assassin’s bullet, a day so many moons ago and it was honored from coast to coast, as in right here, Jack’s old home of Hyannis Port, Massachusetts, where on Ocean Street in Hyannis proper, only a mile or two from the Kennedy compound, you will find nestled in with the scrub pines a memorial certainly worth your time. As you can see walking up to the stone wall holding a plaque of our late President, the beautiful water fountain gracing Nantucket Sound with the Steamship Authority car ferry to Nantucket named “The Eagle” steaming on by only moments ago. I find myself here sometimes, being my backyard and all, and the energy here is palpable, as if you can feel the intensity of the spirit that was Kennedy and how that spirit raised others to reach great heights, such as the moon, an army of peaceful warriors, the seed of Civil Rights and the courageous stand off of a possible nuclear annihilation, leading one to the conclusion that Kennedy is not dead, he can’t be if all of the wonderful people I have seen and heard over the airwaves during the past week or so still have him alive in their hearts and minds, bringing us, no, forcing US to realize our own potential as both individuals and as a nation, under God, indivisible with Liberty and Justice for ALL. God’s speed John, God’s speed always! PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M
