Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the beautiful, sunny, mild island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this 31st day of May, 2012, Thursday, a true ‘post card’ of a day here on Cape, with seasonable temperatures, little to no wind, sunny skies and an overall sense that summer has most definitely arrived on these hallowed shores, this little sand bar created 11,500 years ago by the Last Great Ice Age. Looking above, you SEA the famous “Black Dog”, famous on ‘the Vineyard’ anyway, and around the world now, for her profile has become an icon most know by now, starting from a humble bakery/restaurant in Vineyard Haven way back in 1971, a much simpler time to be sure, to now arguably the symbol of one of the many treasures, Martha’s Vineyard, this ocean paradise offers anyone who may visit this summer. “So come on down, we will, as always, leave the LIGHT on for YA!”… One would be hard pressed to find a better ideal than this most loyal and friendly of canines represents, something I’m sure we all can agree on–and WE, as a collective whole, could use a whole lot more of. For the campaign for the President of the United States is now on full throttle, with republicans crying foul for those brave enough to call out Mitt Romney on his tenure at the private equity firm of Bain Capital, where he claimed his mantle of a “job creator”, while on the left, jaw dropping astonishment continues with our old pal “The Donald”, i.e. Donald Trump, bringing back to life the question of President Obama’s origin of birth, yes, that’s right folks, the “Birthers” are back, and gaining steam, with even Mitt Romney bowing down to the “king maker”, Donald Duck Trump, whose insane rantings just make this republican presidential hopeful look all that much weaker, missing yet another opportunity to stand up to the NONSENSE that IS Donald Trump and act like the President he most desperately wants to be… This election is very simple, if you just take a look at the numbers, for Obama brought this country out of the deepest ditch it had been in since the Great Depression, and although the jobless rate is not where WE all would like it to be, at least it is headed in the right direction. Romney’s plan is simple, revert back to the George W. Bush policies of old, for they really don’t have any new, bright, innovative ideas, unless you consider giving more breaks to the wealthy ‘innovative’, and thus, the mud slinging will continue, with only a few states such as Ohio, Florida, Virginia and perhaps Colorado being the ’swing’ states that will eventually determine the winner of this most pivotal election we have had in decades, for by going back, “Back to the Future” if you will, this nation will see it’s people suffer more than they already have, and we will be stuck in a dirty energy future with no vision, no relief from the poison that comes from ‘fracking’ shale rock for ‘natural gas’, no matter what those horrible Exxon-Mobile advertisements tell you. This, my friends, is the rub. The big oil and gas companies want Mitt to win because it will open up new opportunities for them and the few who gain from the exploitation of our water, land and air–profit over people, hence all of that slick Super PAC money that was a gift from the Robert’s court when they made the fateful and full of folly ruling to allow (Citizens United) corporations to donate as much as they wish to campaigns, possibly destroying OUR democracy forever. This is gearing up to be a David vs. Goliath match up, and we shall SEA if the message of TRUTH and forward, fair movement rings true for the majority of the voting public come November 6th of this year. Stay tuned, same bat time, same bat channel. Have a nice day and remember to be kind, for although it is nice to be important, it is far greater to show compassion and LOVE to thy neighbor than to have your name on everything from skyscrapers to airplanes, apparently believing that someone might forget what a big shot you are! PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M
