Super Cape Moon

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 8:33 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the beautiful, sunny, mild island of Nantucket! Great to be with you and yours on this Monday morning, the 7th day of May, 2012, a spectacular day on Cape, with pure azure skies, mild temperatures and the sense that summer is right around the corner… Looking above you is the ’super moon’ that graced the whole world over the course of the week end, bringing people from L.A. to Rio out in full force to view the magic of a moon the size of, well, for lack of a better cliche, “a pizza pie”, hearkening back to the days of “Moonstruck”, with the incomparable Cher and Nicholas Cage, who brought that moon to our frontal lobes, as the old man in that classic film stated under no uncertain terms to his team of dogs walking the streets of Brooklyn, “…what, are you going to make me wait for it? howl, howl, howl!”…, laughing uncontrollably at his canine pals’ instinct to imitate their wolf brethren, howling at a celestial body that historically has brought much mystery and myth, from the ‘wolfman‘ to the ever changing tides of the oceans of earth that sometimes alter people’s moods and, perhaps, change the course of human history. Of course, I could be completely wrong about the whole thing–being a liberal tree hugger and all.  U.S. politics did not miss a beat, however, over the course of this past week end, with Mitt Romney and President Barack Obama neck and neck in most polls surrounding this epic battle for the soul of this nation, a nation that has seen it’s fair share of division over the course of it’s young 236 years of existence on planet earth.  What is so perplexing about this whole sordid affair of American politics, and the machine of money that was created by the folly of the Supreme Court’s decision in 2010 to allow corporations to donate billions without disclosure, “corporations are people too my friend”, (thanks Citizens United!), is the fact that most American citizens are completely unaware, or asleep to FACTS regarding their own best interests. Take, for example, the FACT that if Mitt Romney were to become this nation’s 45th President, we would most likely go BACKWARDS, “Back to the Future”, if you will, back to the days where this whole downward spiral of the middle and working class began, namely, the advent of the Milton Friedman economic plan via the University of Chicago, ironically, where that VOODOO economic theory of trickle down met no one on the bottom of the food chain, rather, increased the personal wealth of the now infamous .001 percent to levels never seen on these shores, a trend that has proven, via EMPIRICAL numbers, that those top levels of overall income have gone up by 278 percent while the average man or woman in this country has seen his or her wages remain stagnant for over 40 years now, with no where to go but down. This election is a stark choice between what is RIGHT for the majority of American citizens and what is RIGHT for a very few lucky people, people that happened to be in the right place at the right time, i.e., being born with a silver spoon in their mouth with no regard for anyone other than those members of the “BUSHWOOD COUNTRY CLUB” (credit the late great Ted Knight and the classic 1980 film, “Caddyshack”)…  I do not advocate socialism, nor communism for that matter, I only ask that WE, as a nation, begin acting like one, and those who speak of real leadership, stand up on their OWN two feet and WALK their TALK, especially those who speak on behalf of a man who walked this earth over 2012 years ago when he said, “…what you do to the LEAST of US, you do unto ME.” Have a wonderful day and week ahead folks and keep on dodgin’ those wooden nickles offered up by FOX & friends?  They may contain some of the 596 chemicals used in the fracking of ‘natural gas’ that WILL destroy our clean drinking water forever if not properly regulated…  PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M
