Sunrise Salutations

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 11:46 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the great island of Nantucket!  So good to be with you on this very bright morning here in Osterville, the little tiny, tiny seaside village that you would be hard pressed to find on a map, but look no further that Hyannisport, for that is where most of this inspiration comes from.  The speech that our GREAT president gave yesterday at Mchale arena, in Tuscon, Arizona, was, in a word–GREAT. There could be no other words that gave that message to US ALL than the words he delivered to a nation still grieving over the senseless violence that has plagued our great nation, seemingly, since it’s original inception over 236 years ago.  However, WE, as a nation, have made great strides to overcome our differences, our bigotry, our hate, our fear, and most of all, our warped sense of WHO WE REALLY ARE. For if we are not the same people who stormed the beaches of Normandy during our initial involvement in World War II, then WHO ARE WE?  We are most certainly not a group of immigrants who hate one another, for to say that, is to say that you hate your neighbor, or your colleagues, or your own blood.  So, the words that Obama spoke were not only timeless, but they represent a “jumping off” point where we can ALL understand what REALLY matters in the end, and what, most certainly, does NOT.  I thought I would add a mix of the great artist Anne Murray, whom I love and cherish, since I was just a wee lad living in Stowe, Vermont, where I would listen to the words of this particularly song I am about to quote verbatim, over and over again, for it summed up how this “cowboy” really feels about LOVE, LIGHT and FROGS. enjoy.…  AND ACTION! “I cried a tear, you wiped it dry, I was confused, you cleared my mind, I sold my soul, you bought it back for me, and held me up, and gave me dignity, somehow, you needed me…  You gave me strength, to stand alone again, to face the world, out on my own again, you put me high, upon a pedestal, so high that I could almost see eternity… You needed me, You needed me…  And, I can’t believe it’s you, I can’t believe it’s true, I needed you, and you were there, and I’ll never leave why should I leave, I’d be fool, ’cause I finally found someone who REALLY cares.  You held my hand, when it was cold, when I was lost, you took me home, you gave me HOPE, when I was at the end, and turned my lies, back into to TRUTH again, you even called me friend.  You gave me strength to stand alone again, to face the world, out on my own again, you put me high, upon a pedestal, so HIGH that I could almost see ETERNITY, you needed me, you needed me, you needed me…”  and, cut, print and wrap… I wish the very best for our great FRIEND, Gabby Giffords and all of the families of this senseless act of violence.  I pray for our great country to HEAL and take this past week end to KNOW the difference LOVE and it’s opposite–for we all know what that is.   Have a great day folks.  PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M
