Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the great island of Nantucket! A spectacular sunrise this morning down at Dowses Beach, here in Osterville, and as we await the now category 4 storm to make it’s way into the greater Cape Cod region, the only place this hurricane will actually make land fall, we are battening down the hatches. Winds of up to 135 m.p.h. are churning up the seas from North Carolina, up to Cape May, New Jersey, and although the storm is expected to track a little to the east of Nantucket, one of our islands may still take the brunt of this low pressure system. By early Saturday morning, we will know exactly where it will be, because it will be here. It is because of storms like this, that global warming receives the headlines that it deserves–for the continuation of the never ending emissions of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere will, in time, make this storm look like a gentle spring rain. Although, our good friend, James, “she’ll be comin’ round the mountain when she comes,” Inhofe (R-OK), famous for saying, “global warming is the greatest hoax ever played on the American people,” would most likely disagree, as he has such expertise in meteorology, physics, and climate change…just ask the scientists in Greenland, as they watch yet another chunk of ice the size of Rhode Island, break off into the North Sea. They will also tell you that not only does Mr. Inhofe speak for them, but he offers a unique viewpoint from the great state of Oklahoma, where he has done exhaustive work on greenhouse gases, their impact onto our economy and the world’s health at large. We owe a great deal of debt to our friends from the p.o.h.n., the ‘tea party’ and brilliant politicians like Sarah Palin, who, this past Sunday, along with her friend Glenn Beck, called upon US all to get behind “their” shield of GOD and get “America” back to where she once was… exactly when does God talk to you, sister Sarah, and if, or when he does, what is his favorite color? Inquiring minds would like to know. GOD’S SPEED to the GULF, ALL of the good people of the Bayou, the SEA TURTLES, DOLPHINS, WHALES, BROWN PELICANS and marsh lands therein…we will never, ever forget you! Have a nice Thursday everybody! Peace~M
