Sunday Roses

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 6:47 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket!  I hope you and yours are well this morning, this twenty fifth day of July, 2010… The morning broke with some lingering rain here on Cape, and as we try and get that jet stream on down here to give us all a little relief from the oppressive heat and humidity on the East coast, we will most likely see temperatures soar once again here on this little sand bar created 11,500 years ago by the Last Great Ice Age–I wonder when we will be saying that again…  It is Sunday, and you all know what that means, it’s time for the “pundits” to come out of the wood work and spout their knowledge of what they may, or may not, have learned over the course of the past week… I’m envisioning something like this.  First, the major corporate owned airwaves will have on their shows, as a main point of topic, the controversy that rocked the White House via the poisonous words of Andrew Brietbart and his “friends” who, once again, made Hollywood, well, Hollywood.  You see, Mr. Breitbart is a right wing (nut) blogger who resides in the fair city of Hollywood, California, where he has created such plumbs as the ACORN “pimp” scam, along with countless others, polluting the waters of truth and hurting some good people along the way with, the weapon of choice for the p.o.h.n., LIES. People on the shows will express their “views” as to the shortcomings of, as history will show, a President who has literally battled against 10 Goliaths and won on many sweeping pieces of legislation that will make this country a better place FOR THE PEOPLE and maybe, just maybe, a little less lucrative for the corporations who have taken ownership of everything in America from the banking system to the environment that we live in.  Case in point, bp, who, in it’s infinite altruism and transparency, has made efforts to buy the scientists and scholars who make up the University brain trust of the Bayou, turning water into wine, or, in this case, oily sludge into an environmental boon, for we all know that the millions of barrels of oil that were “released” into the Gulf waters have been eliminated, that businesses have been restored and that the Brown Pelicans are doing just fine because, after all, Tony, “Gone Sailin”, Hayward promised that they would, “do everything in their power to make this right, to make the people of the Gulf whole again.”  LIES. Why don’t we get Tony and Brietbart together and write a blog that will PROVE that this disaster was actually the fault of the sea creatures themselves, that it was a diabolical plan by nature to sabotage such an important industry, so as to preserve the wilds of the Gulf–keeping it pristine and beautiful for generations to come?  Yes, those filthy sea turtles and the hippy left wing agenda, that’s the problem, right?  Why on God’s green earth would WE want these horrible corporations, who take everything and give nothing back, to stand up and be accountable?  Why?  When they have destroyed our economy, along with their henchman, the members of the p.o.h.n., 40 percent of our wetlands, our rivers and streams and drinking wells with the “fracking” of rock with 596 chemicals to produce “natural gas” effectively killing off our own citizens, fleeced sick people with bogus insurance scams (a.k.a., insurance policies) designed to take your money and give you NO care, and systematically made this once, BRAVE COUNTRY, into a mass of people who are in fear of finding their next meal.  Yes, we have come such a long way in this country of ours since the days of deregulation under a President who was the best actor the corporate world could have hired or asked for…  I await my friend George Will, who is a statue on the weekly news magazine, “This Week” on ABC, and baseball expert, to tell us all how bad the passing of financial reform, albeit toothless financial reform, but at least the idea of reform, was this past week and how the blaming of George W. Bush and his sick administration for the ills of the economy is not fair. This predictable outcome goes a long way in proving that George Will (and most republican “pundits”) is a shill for the big business that has taken over this great country of ours.  Everything on the plate does not deserve equal measure, or equal weight.  The media has proven their worth by who and what they put on the air, and by giving equal time and consideration to cheats and liars like the p.o.h.n. and the republican strategists who feed their teleprompters, they are throwing in the towel of journalistic integrity…  WAKE UP AMERICA! If we don’t fight the good fight, we will become a third world nation, with concentrations of wealth in microscopic regions of this country, mass unemployment, rising debt, a crumbling infrastructure, a failing environment and a dismantling of basic human rights–similar to the “regime” in China, where no one is allowed to question the government and no one has a voice that is given the equal weight that TRUTH should ALWAYS be afforded.  GOD’S SPEED to the GULF, anchors held, all of the people, SEA TURTLES, DOLPHINS, WHALES, BROWN PELICANS and marsh lands therein…may this nightmare be over soon. Have a blessed Sunday folks!  Peace~M
