Starfish
One day a mighty storm hit a small island in the Caribbean, whereupon masses of Starfish washed ashore upon a white sandy beach. A little girl was watching the weather reports all night, as she was familiar with the ocean and all of the creatures, both great and small, that made their home there. Early that morning, she ran to the ocean and to her great sadness looked out onto the white, sugar like sand and saw all of the starfish that had been washed up by the powerful waves. Undaunted, she began picking them up, one by one, and throwing them back into the sea. A man passing by on a bike asked, “why are you throwing those starfish back into the ocean–you can’t save them all, and what does it matter anyway?” Looking at the old man with a hint of pity in her eyes, she sweetly said as she pointed to the starfish in her little hand, “it matters to this one.“ Copenhagen (world conference on global warming) is only a month away–I pray the world throws some starfish back into the ocean of reason and LOVE. Have a great Tuesday! Peace~ M
