Sorry, but we’re closed!
Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the cloudy, windy, soon to be quite rainy island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this blustery Friday, The Thirteenth Day of March, 2020, awaiting some moisture from above a little later on, with mild temperatures as has been the rule for most of this Winter.
“Did you want to talk about the weather or just chit chat?”
Unless you have been living under a rock, most people in high politics would agree that would include our very fine U.S. President Donald J. Trump, whose loose lips sink ships rhetoric has put this great nation at risk to repeat the nightmare Italy is experiencing right NOW, yes, unless you have been doing some spelunking for an extended period of ‘time’, you are well aware of just how serious this whole situation IS.
The depth and scope of the cancellations, suspensions, confusion, frustration and overall angst in every sector of our society regarding this novel global pandemic is difficult to calculate, let alone, SEA into the future of how these epic hits on our overall economy will be, is staggering. The New York Post, famous for it’s sometimes over the top cover front page headlines, offered this yesterday,
“…sorry, but we’re closed.”
Summing it up for Italy to be sure, as 60 million people ’shelter in place’, but also here in the U.S., colleges, schools, professional sporting leagues, Broadway, the list goes on, are shutting their doors, in sometimes a vain attempt to slow this bloody thing down. Hospitals take notice of said European country, for that fate is washing up on your shores soon. The economy is reeling, with stocks falling over 9 percent yesterday, the Dow jones Industrial losing 2300 points plus on that same ‘time’ period, the worst drop in stocks since 1987.
It is hard to say where this is headed, as previously stated, especially when we do not have proper tests available and most certainly no where near the number WE need in order to KNOW who is affected and who is not.
Again, looking above deck at the John F. Kennedy’s Memorial here on Ocean Street, it demands the question;
“…where is the leadership, where is the empathy, where is the true adult in the White House?”
Have a safe, joyful, peaceful, positive week end y’all!
PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M
