Saint Elizabeth’s of Edgartown

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 7:33 am

On this foggy day here on the Cape, my heart is with my family in southern California.  I took a drive this morning to watch the sun rise at Dowses Beach here in Osterville, the clouds were purple and Chatham Light could be seen across Nantucket Sound, 25 miles to the east.  My grandmother was a wonderful person who lived a long a beautiful life, 104 years.  She was the matriarch of our family, but more.  Her sense of humor, shined in her Irish eyes and her kindness could be felt across a continent.  I had the privilege of writing to her regularly, and her letters back to me brought me hope, love and peace when I needed it the most.  I know I will never be able to repay that, save to give it away as she did, the LOVE, as she must have known how precious a gift it is in this precarious world we live in.  She was originally from Kansas, when my grandfather died many decades ago.  My aunt and uncle, cousins and especially my father were with her when she passed at her home with the Little Sisters of the Poor, an order of the Catholic church, who do more for the most important resource we have, our elders, than any other organization on the face of the earth.  I am indebted to them for their extraordinary care and love they gave selflessly to my grandmother, Elizabeth Mosier.  I miss her so, and as I write this on an October morning here on Cape Cod, I wish to tell her how much I love her.  I know she is resting with the Angels on high and that she knows peace once again.  So, grandma, please hear my prayer and watch over us all, give us strength and guide us to the light of LOVE, PEACE and JOY.  God Bless us ALL.  Peace, M
