Patriotism is a funny thing…it was written, during the Revolutionary War, that “patriotism is the last refuge for scoundrels.” As the Senate gears up for the legislative fight of the century today, going into tonight– debating and then voting on cloture on whether or not to go forward with the debate over health care in the United States, the world will be watching. Needing 60 votes to bring a full on debate to the Senate floor will depend upon the Senator from Arkansas (D), Ms. Lincoln, Joe Lieberman (I, CT) and perhaps two others. In 1994, when this critical vote came to pass, cloture was not an issue. Now, it remains to be seen whether or not moral conscience will drive this critical vote forward, so that millions of Americans can get some HELP from their elected officials. The strategists who work directly for the insurance cartel would most likely state that, “patriotism is equated with a fixed system of haves and have nots and should not be questioned, simply accepted. Further, one should blindly follow the corrupt and powerful, as they know what is best for you and your family–high deductibles, pre-existing conditions, outrageous premiums, denial of claims, no choice, and an ILLUSION of health care “insurance”.” Definition two, “Patriotism is Glenn Beck and his handlers– ask no questions and we will tell you no lies.” When I think about this beautiful country and what it really stands for, “By the people, for the people…”, I am reminded that I am not alone. “Under God, indivisible, with LIBERTY and JUSTICE for ALL.” God Speed dear Senators, God Speed… Have a nice Saturday! Peace~M
