Red, White and Blue

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 7:00 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket!  Good to be with you on this Friday morning and Happy 4th of July week end!  The weather could not be nicer than it is this a.m., with clear skies and cool temperatures at Dowses Beach.  Hope all is well wherever you may be receiving this message… Round two of the “Sharron Angle Show”, exclusively aired on the “Rachel Maddow Show” two evenings ago, also included this montage of hypocrisy and contradiction from our friend John, “Billy Bob”, Boehner (R-OH), who is now best known for his statement a few days ago regarding the President’s efforts to reform Wall Street–likening it to trying to kill an ant with a nuclear bomb, along with his push to raise the age to begin collecting social security to 70, and of course displaying his ignorance as to what an actual moratorium IS when it comes to deep water drilling in the waters of the United States.  Nancy Pelosi, the Speaker of the House, responded with this statement, “An ant Mr. Boehner?  It was the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression-8 million Americans lost their jobs and 17 trillion in retirement savings and net worth.”  Obama took a shot at Boehner saying of this ant analogy, “He can’t be that out of touch, if he is he ought to come down to Racine, Wisconsin.”  Democrats are actually making some noise.  Getting back to the main event, “The Sharron Angle Show”, live with Jon Ralston and his show Face to Face, keep in mind that people that are created in a bubble, sometimes cannot survive outside of it… And Action! Jon: “You have an interesting view on jobless benefits, I want to read what you said in an interview recently, (Angle in a previous interview): “You can make more money on unemployment than you can by going down and getting one of those jobs (you know, “those jobs”, the kind that I would not take if my life depended on it), that is, an honest job, it doesn’t pay as much and so that’s what happens to us, we have put in so much entitlement into our government (talking point #2, literally) that we have really spoiled our “citizenry” (yeah, we stole all of their money through a wicked stock market casino ponzi scheme and then offered to give them Cobra for 1200 dollars a month, while offering a couple hundred dollars to keep food in our kids bellies, yeah, we are spoiled like that) you don’t want the jobs that are available.”  Jon: “So your saying that there’s thousands of Nevadans, they’re all sitting on their couches, they’re all spoiled, saying I don’t want to go out and get a job, so we’re going to cut off all their benefits, is that your attitude?”  Angle: “No, no, I said that it spoiled our citizenry.” (a completely different animal, I’m not saying the people are lazy, stupid and poor, I’m saying the citizenry in general, you know the whole of the citizenship is spoiled and no good, I mean, line! Is someone going to give me a line?!)  Jon: “What about separation of church and state?  That it is in the Constitution, the Founding Fathers believed in that, and you know what?  In 1995, when you were on the Nye County school board, you came to the legislature testifying a school choice bill, and here’s what the bill said, “The bill is exclusionary of many private religious schools and Ms. Angle believed that to be an un-American concept, and the tenant of the separation of church and state is an unconstitutional doctrine. Jon: “The separation of church and state arises OUT of the Constitution.”  Angle:  “No, it doesn’t.”  Jon: “It doesn’t?”  Angle: “No, it doesn’t Jon.  Actually, Thomas Jefferson has been misquoted, like I’ve been misquoted, or taken out of context.”  and cut, print and wrap. You got that last part right sister, after watching you speak, I felt a little dizzy and confused.  What with the barrage of hypocritical, contradictory and idiotic statements coming at me, one after the other, like a set on the North Shore, your logic, or lack thereof, has made me want to join you, in defeating these monsters who want to keep the church, i.e. the only church acceptable to the far rightwingnuts, Christian evangelical, out of the business of the state, just like our forefathers intended in a document called the Constitution of the United States of America–not too complicated, just read the black parts, i.e. the words, and have someone explain what they mean to you if you don’t understand the concepts.  It’s OK, we know you are only “doing you job”.   Turning from one ding dong to another, we move on to bp and their new “spokesperson” Bob Dudley, who appeared on the PBS NEWSHOUR last night.  When asked a question about the bp “workers” and the fact that they only seem to appear when there is news media present for say, the President’s four visits to the Gulf region, his denial was as impressive as Tony, “Gone Sailin’” Hayward’s.  He then went on to lie about the blowout preventer stating that they rarely, if ever, fail, therefore this was an anomaly, when oil industry experts themselves agree that (most other nations drilling at these depths use 2 blowout preventers because it has been proven that there is a 45 percent chance the blowout preventer will fail) it is highly likely that these devices will fail in deep water.  He then went on to say that the Corexit 3500, the dispersant used since the beginning of this environmental disaster, is as safe as dish soap.  This is the same stuff banned in the United Kingdom well over ten years ago.  He went on to say that, “labs have tested it to show that.”  Then he went on to say these exact words when pushed for a real answer as to how safe it truly is, “we don’t know.”  He goes from being certain that it is as safe as the stuff we use to clean up the birds, otters, turtles, dolphins, etc., who are now coated with oil, to a flat out admission that he has no idea what he is talking about.  NONE.  After that he snapped and went into a long, rant and I quote, “yeah, like those cute little animals that are on that “Dawn” commercial, yeah, so it’s as safe as the stuff we use to clean up the, what was the question, oh, ah, well, yeah, we got these labs to test that dispersant and yeah, like the dish soap that, er, is safe around the animals who may or may not get soaked in oil, that we, er, spilled, oh Christ, I hate this job and to answer your question, I don’t really have any idea what the “Corexit 3500″ does to the environment when it binds with crude oil and you can’t hold me to what it may or may not do to the seabed, the birthplace for the circle of life, where the food chain begins, no you can’t hold me accountable for that, nor can you hold me accountable for the de-oxygenation of the ocean itself, creating vast “dead zones” destroying fishing in the Gulf and perhaps worldwide for 100 years–yeah, you can’t pin that on me, Tony, oh, I see I have said too much…”  PBS:  “Is that your final answer?”  GOD’S SPEED to the GULF, all of the people, sea creatures, BROWN PELICANS, and marsh lands therein…  Have a great 4th everybody!  Peace~M
