private property…
Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the milky sun skied, breezy, balmy, ever bouncy island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this Saturday morning, “Cinco de Mayo” (not widely celebrated in Mexico, as it was just another battle in 1862 where the Mexican Army defeated the occupying French), The Fifth Day of May, 2018. Yes, another day to sling back some alcohol, promoted heavily by the powerful corporate booze lobby, keeping Americans “fat, drunk and stupid”,
(”…no way to go through life son.”).

just as the (current) power structure wishes it to remain.
Fear not my friends! For today, Sea Cape Cod just received late last night a rare, leaked, ‘private’ interview between U.S. president Donald J. Trump and ABC’s “World” ‘news’ Tonight anchor David Muir, (always there for you!). A casual talk where ‘The Donald’ lays out a few of his thoughts that he may have left off his overactive ‘Twitter’ feed.
Enjoy and have a stellar day!
David Muir: “It is great to have you Mr. Trump, may I call you Donald?
Trump: “No, you may not, in fact, it’s a shame I am doing this interview with you, and not someone like the late, great Mike Wallace, for you are a disgrace to the once proud and illustrious journalism profession. You make me sick!
David: “Duly noted. It must be hard to keep all these crazy balls in the air without dropping one, I mean, the Russian collusion? I’m just saying! A lot of talk about the Russians, the hooker with a heart of gold, the border wall, how’s that going by the way? The list goes on and on, you’ve got all the White House staff who have disappeared into the Potomac River, your personal lawyer being raided by the FBI, the fact women and immigrants (DACA), mostly find you disturbing and dangerous for the country, should I go on?
Trump: “Do you want to know what I can’t stand Muir? It’s guys like you who read fake news scripts handed down from powers that be controlled by a Hidden Hand and pretend that it’s news. You want news? Here’s a news flash for you David, the basic rights forged by ‘The Bill of Rights’ in OUR U.S. Constitution have been shredded to make way for AI and ‘The New World Order’!
Soon to be gone will be the Second Amendment, the right to bear arms, and after that will be freedom of speech, the First Amendment, after that, you may as well call me comrade, for that is where we are all headed. Taking away people’s privacy is the slippery slope that will make this all a reality. If these folks get their way. Saying you don’t care about privacy because you don’t have anything to hide is no different than saying you don’t care about freedom of speech because you’ve got nothing to say. That’s a fundamental misunderstanding of the nature of rights, God given rights. What privacy is for.
Privacy is not about something to hide, but something to protect, it’s who you ARE! Privacy is baked into our language, as my pal Edward Snowden says, our core concepts of government and self in every way. It’s why we call it ‘private property’. Without privacy you don’t have anything for yourself. If we don’t have privacy, what we’re losing is the ability to be ourselves. Privacy is the fountainhead of all other rights. Freedom of speech doesn’t have a whole lot of meaning if you don’t have a quiet space, a space within yourself, your mind, your community, your friends, your family, to decide what it is you actually want to say.
The common argument we have–if you have nothing to hide, you’ve got nothing to fear–is right out of the Nazi playbook from World War II. It’s from the Minister of Propaganda Joseph Goebbels himself,
Sieg Heil!
You can’t make this stuff up David. So when you hear modern politicians, modern people repeating that phrase reflexively without confronting it’s origins, what it really stands for, I think it’s harmful. Privacy is something to protect. Privacy is the right to self. Privacy is what gives you the ability to share with the world who you are on you own terms. For them to understand what you’re trying to be and to protect for yourself the parts of you you’re not sure about, that you’re still experimenting with. I mean come on! Just ask Stormy Daniels she’ll tell ya!
You know David, let’s not ask her shall we? In fact, can we please just edit that last bit out David, pretty please with sugar on top?
I mean it, privacy, touches on everything. Such as religion. Freedom of religion doesn’t mean all that much if you can’t figure out what you actually believe without being influenced by the criticisms of outside direction and peer pressure.
Course you know all about that don’t you David? Trump out!”
PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M
