“Osprey v. Osprey”

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 12:42 pm

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the cloudy, cool, collected, considerate island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this First Day of May, 2016, Sunday round the world, and on that fair aforementioned island, Nantucket, today is also “Daffodil Day”, the whole week end really, as the festival is still going on at this moment in ‘time’; parking lots full in the historic town of Hyannis, most people ferrying over on Friday, cars from all parts of this great country WE call America.  Looking like a grand invasion after the quiet, calm, serene winter…  Indeed, that fact cannot be ignored lately, as it is most interesting to SEA U.S. military apparatus’ buzzing overhead of late, lo, America’s best pilots working the skies this past Friday; excerpting their newest “Osprey” flying machines all up and down this ‘ole sand bar, hovering low along Hyannis, and then heading out to Sea… No match however, in the long run, for the able bodied, powerful, high flying, black, white and brown colored, again, high flying feathered friends you might also witness if you come on down to these shores this summer; yes sir, it’s the real Ospreys who truly rule the skies round these here parts your highness!  God’s gift to Cape Cod, truly creatures from ‘on high’, giant sea hawks, who have made their way back from as far away as the rain forests of the Amazon, coming back home to these fabled shores to mate and feast…….  Landing back in March, creating new LIFE and finding the fishing quite abundant…

Last night in our nation’s Capitol, Washington D.C., our fine U.S. President Barack Obama was center stage for the eighth and final time, appearing with First Lady Michelle Obama, at the annual “White House Correspondents Dinner” (the first one being in February of 1914).  A “tortuous” event that looked and felt like a Comedy Central roast combined with a wake. Even over the airwaves one could feel the pain, imagining the negative energy even worse being there… The print journalists being the latter.  Sorry Washington Post?  But Obama was not done with just print.  TV was hit hard with a gut punch–forcing the the crowd to occasionally groan out in obvious guttural pain, lo, more than a few times, some grimacing, faces etched out in angry ’sounds of silence’, secretly wishing they had skipped the whole damn thing, the room staring to spin; many feeling a little sea sick from all the cheap open bar gin combined with the lousy house wine–especially with that opening left hook,”…the end of the Republic has never looked better!” (referring to all the aforementioned journalists out there in the trenches every day; armed with prefab script, written for them by, well, you know the answer to that one! Obama leveling the crowd with some great one liners, along with some creepy special effects regarding all kinds of cryptic stuff, not to mention the funny spoof with former Speaker of the House John Boehner. Well done sir!  F ‘em if they can’t take a joke!  The final statement he made regarding the importance of free speech and how hard it really is to do the right thing these days, yeah, it was touching and taken as real by this reporter…

The saucy savagery was quickly followed up with the very funny Larry Wilmore, who, as he said on the show last night, is the “…black guy who replaced Jon Stewart”. Anyone who watched the show LIVE last night would disagree.  This man can stand on his own. His insight and delivery arguably as powerful as the President’s, considering the material and how tough that room really was and always must be, hitting even more nerves in the audience than the president, proving he is hilarious and truth exposing, i.e. funny, or, as TBS would say, very, very funny…

Have a good one everybody!
