Old Town
Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the warm, humid, sunny island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this Thursday morning, the 2nd day of August, 2012, a typical ‘dog day of summer’ here on the Cape and wonderful islands of MV and Nantucket, home, of course, to the best radio show (hi Sandy, D.C. and Hubbs! Good Luck to you all and thanks for all of the great work!) on planet earth, 97.7 ACK FM, please Google it, or dial it up, for when you hear the sounds on a weekend, say, via Boulder, Colorado, well, that “Acoustic Storm” will take you by surprise, and may, just may, wake you up to the FACT this is still a great and beautiful world WE all share, whether you are rich, poor, black, white, gay, straight, pink or polka dot… For what color is God’s skin anyhow? Yes sir, this picture you see above you, of some goof ball “blogger”, sums it all up–Cotuit, ‘Old Town’ Cape, ‘where the ocean meets the wood’. Last night, perhaps around 9 p.m., almost ‘Martha’s Vineyard midnight’ (credit the late great Mike Wallace of “60 Minutes” fame), eastern standard of course, I was parked, as usual, at “Loop Beach”, via Ocean View Avenue. My fiance and I witnessed, listening in silence, to four young men, right out of high school, take a hike on to the top of the Nantucket Red lifeguard stand on said beach, jumping up to watch perhaps the most spectacular full moonshine show this simple reporter has ever seen. For you saw this full moon (the first of this month, as the “Blue Moon” will be coming at the latter end of this month) rising above a gorgeous, calm Nantucket Sound, with ‘ner a sound in the night air. The deep, dark purples that radiated in and out of the bright light of that companion to planet earth, seemed to drift one in and out of ‘consciousness’, and into a realm that only a few witness, if they only took the ‘time’ to SEA life all around them, as opposed to being plugged into the mundane world this country has seemed to have succumbed to, a.k.a. ‘the Kardashians’… We simply, like I said, listened to their words, as those four young men about to go off to college, one UVM, good luck sir, yes, listening to those innocent words of my own youth, brought it all full circle, seeing for the first time how that laughter, love, joy, and peace still remained within me as well. I thank them all, for that moment, and wish them the best for their futures, as well as all of the young people in this great country, called “The United States of America”. Our youth are OUR future, and if you don’t believe that, or in them, well, I just feel sorry for you, for that Carma will come back and bite you in the end. The spirit of this great country has not died, rather, has been restored and is getting stronger by the day, for out of one, is many, and out of many is ONE! This nation will be reborn and restored, regardless of the plutocrats push for people that don’t pay taxes, or rather feel they don’t owe any–above, somehow in their ‘minds’, the 99.9 percent of US who struggle day to day to pay the bills that keep the lights on, keep our children out of harms way, educated and fed don’t count for much. Is that not the whole point? Inquiring minds would like to know. Have a great day folks and keep on watching the skies, stay safe and enjoy these 2012 Olympic games in my old home town of London, England. They are worthy of your attention. PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M
