Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the raw, cold, rainy island of Nantucket! Great to be with you and yours on this Wednesday morning, the second day of May, 2012, another cool, misty day on Cape, looking for a break in the weather sometime after midnight, with more seasonable temps expected over the week end…  Yesterday, President Barack Obama visited Afghanistan under the cover of darkness, arriving in that war torn country to sign an agreement to pull out U.S. combat troops by 2014, but with the caveat of a presence until the year 2024– leaving little to no doubt that although fighting a war that makes little to no sense to the average American, the U.S. will not make the same mistake it made in 1989 when, after helping the Afghan rebels defeat the then Soviet Union, we pulled out, leaving a vacuum for terrorists and others to reek havoc on innocents in foreign lands years later…  It is a tough sell, but one that will be bantered back and forth by the pundits, politicians and media alike for the foreseeable future.  The one year anniversary of the death of Osama bin Laden has also been politicized, not by the President so much, but by those who say that what the President did could have been accomplished by anyone with a pulse, thus, should not even be brought up in such a contentious political year. Really?  Jon Stewart of “The Daily Show” on Comedy Central thought differently last night as he brought up the FACT then President George W. Bush landed on an aircraft carrier, spiking the ball in the end zone, declaring “Mission Accomplished” before the war really even began in earnest in Iraq. Begging the question, do you folks on the right side of the aisle have a memory bank in that rather foggy head of yours?  Me thinks thou protesteth too much my liege! Don’t you just love American politics?  I know I do.  Have a nice day folks and keep on dodgin’ those raindrops, I mean, wooden nickles offered up on the various ‘news’ shows FOX puts on the airwaves every day…side effects include, but, again, are not limited to, paranoia, tunnel vision, delusions of grandeur, cramps, loss of direction, hoarding, difficulty going to the bathroom and an overwhelming sense that the world is passing you by, or at least it’s ‘reality’ in this ‘day and age’ IS.  PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M
