“No Dogs allowed?”

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 9:19 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the sunny, cold island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this Friday morning, the ninth day of December, 2011, another gorgeous day on Cape, with cold temperatures and abundant sunshine streaming in over Cotuit Bay, ‘where the ocean meets the woods’, offering up some holiday spirit as we march towards the most sacred of all the 365 days on the calendar year for most American citizens, namely, Christmas. Although, this season marks many other significant holy days for other religions, other than Christianity, such as in the Jewish faith, celebrating Hanukkah, or ‘the festival of lights’lightness, yes, as we all attempt to ‘get along with each other just a little better’, or, god forbid, actually take the words of the man whose birth many acknowledge as that most Holy day of the year and begin LOVING ONE ANOTHER, for real, because like the boys in the cave from the film, ‘Dead Poets Society’, when one of the boys stands up and says, regarding the poetry they are reading and the inspiration that it is evoking within them, “…if all we are going to do is sit around this cave and read poetry, well, what are we doing?”. Double that sentiment for this country’s chosen religion, a nice, tidy religion at that, for the hypocrisy runs deep in most political circles, and, as the politicians who do not need to be named, they know who they are, continue thinking they have successfully pulled the wool over the eyes of the American people, think again, for this ‘time of year’ represents YOUR opportunity (see “A Christmas Carol” for more details, preferably the Bill Murray film ‘Scrooged’) to get it right (you will be visited by 3 ghosts! Boo!), to change your ways and begin TRULY walking the talk you spout so well (directly translated by your ego from your religion of choice), as you and your crazy, ‘capitalism gone wild’ hoodlum friends, who go by a name that rhymes with ‘dump’, “take that cow out and try and make it with the cow…I gotta party with you cowboy, you and me together?, forget about it…” (credit Bill Murray, once again, and the classic film, “Stripes”, also starring the incomparable writer Harold Ramis).  Christmas is the season where WE, collectively, take a step back, hopefully taking the words Jesus Christ himself uttered millions of moons ago to heart, moreover, into ACTION!, you know, random acts of kindness and all that!–your redemption, your “savior”, so to speak, resides in your brothers and sisters, for 99 percent of the people in this country are JUST as important as you are old boy, so when you take a big dump on their collective heads, I am pretty sure you missed the point.  Have a nice day folks, as well as week end, and if any members of congress are reading little old seacapecod.net, please don’t allow the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline to go through as an attachment to doing the right thing in passing the payroll tax cut for the middle class, for if that horrible, filthy carbon bomb goes through, it will, in the words of every credible climatologist out there worth his or her salt, “…represent lights out for this planet’s environment as we current(v)ly know it.” PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M
