Nantucket Sound Sunrise

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 9:48 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the fabulous island of Nantucket!  Great to be with you on this third day of July, 2011, right smack in the middle of the 4th of July celebrations going on here on Cape and the islands of MV and Nantucket, as we have been experiencing wonderful weather and record crowds, especially right here in Osterville. Yesterday was perhaps the most spectacular day we have had all year, thus far, with temperatures in the low 70’s, deep blue skies above, and that all important, gentle sea breeze that offers natural air conditioning via the cooler Nantucket Sound and the Atlantic Ocean, a product that WE here at seacapecod.net would love to export out to the nation who has been reeling and suffering under record heat from Phoenix, Arizona, who has hit the 110 plus degree mark in the shade, to Detroit, Michigan, where it hit a record 98 degrees Fahrenheit yesterday, while residents scramble to find a little relief in the lakes of Michigan, Huron, St. Clair and Superior.  Tomorrow is the birthday of our nation, a nation that is on the brink of being turned into a “newt” or Greece–literally.  For today, the rich pay next to nothing in the way of taxes, with the average 400 wealthiest individuals in this country, a group that owns more than the bottom 50 percent combined, or 150 million people, paying only 14 percent in federal income taxes in the fiscal year of 2010.  Greece, by comparison, has a similar dynamic, as the average citizen’s taxes have gone up slightly and cuts to social programs have been dramatic, shared sacrifice or “austerity”, if you will, while the richest one percent in Greece pay next to nothing in the way of taxes, creating an unfair and unbalanced society where you can see the wheels coming off the wagon every day in Athens by just turning on your television set.  When the “American People” wake up and see what is really going on with revenue, or the lack of it, in the United States, and WHY we don’t have any money in the federal reserve, as governors begin shutting down entire states like Minnesota, which the republicans hope will be a microcosmic model for the rest of the nation, yes, as the “American People” SEE, and more importantly SMELL and FEEL, what the republican puppets are up to, where all of that money has really been going, playing a sick game of chicken or Russian roulette, choose your metaphor, with regard to raising the national debt ceiling, paying bills that have already been promised, that, if not raised, will cause this country and world to suffer greatly, while literally holding not only the U.S. economy hostage, but world markets as well, via a well defined Stockholm Syndrome, the “American People”, the republicans claim to LOVE and speak so often for, will rise up and throw those BUMS out of office forever, hopefully dropping them off in some urban area without food, water, or an American Express card!  There will be a revolt in every state in the union, while the public physically ousts these corrupt puppets, acting as if they are bona fide leaders, puppets such as John Kasich of Ohio, Rick Snyder of Michigan, Rick Scott of Florida, and Scott Walker of Wisconsin, just to name of few of the republican governors, not to mention all of the congressmen and, to some degree, Senators, whose only goal is to destroy the middle class, hope the poor die soon, and rip out every right they “thought” they had, per the orders of the plutocrats such as David and Charles Koch. I’m amazed that it has not happened sooner.  Have a wonderful Sunday folks and God Bless the United States of America, even though her flag is ripped and torn, she still flies with the same spirit she always did fly with.  PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M
