Nantucket Red
Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the sunny, cool island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this Wednesday morning, the twenty-eighth day of December, 2011, a stunningly beautiful one on Cape, with some blustery conditions still lingering, as a strong weather system just passed over Nantucket a few moments ago, taking with it all of the soaking rains, making way for abundant sunshine and fairly warm temperatures for this ‘time’ of the year, where the Christmas spirit of Love, kindness, charity and Joy will remain with US, being ‘the gift that keeps on giving all year long Clark’, (credit the classic film “Christmas Vacation”, starring Chevy Chase, and, of course, Randy Quaid), speaking to Clark Griswold’s (Chevy Chase) Christmas present from the “Jelly of the Month club”, a gift his boss in the corporate game of food additives generously gave to his chemist employee, who expected a much larger bonus in the form of cash, so as to put in a new pool. As Clark found out, his boss was a ’scum sucking….’, the rest of that rant cannot be uttered on this G rated blog, where he and the rest of his employees, ‘took it up the rear’, whereupon “Eddie” (Randy Quaid) takes matters into his own hands to wit the rest you can either imagine or watch for yourself, perhaps on one of the many electronic devices you may have received this Christmas, devices WE all have now for viewing vintage movies exclusively, still frames of our brothers and sisters on the stage that is Life, presenting timeless moments seemingly much larger than our own lives, transporting us to different worlds with images that capture our imaginations and sometimes answers all of life’s riddles. One riddle we ALL would like to unlock is this upcoming 2012 Presidential election, that is just now beginning to heat up. Iowa’s famous caucuses will be held in a week, with Romney and Gingrich leading with 22 percent or so, Paul a distant third and the rest of Barnum and Bailey’s b team continuing to juggle, pull their pants down, honk their big red noses, and make little children cry, like some god awful new reality television show where the fine American family called the Kardashian’s meet up, to presumably rumble, do drugs and have sex with the Swamp People. Hallelujah! Amen I say unto you my brother, Amen! Thank the Lord above for corporate sponsored horse$hit polluting the airwaves 24/7, melting our collective brains, can a brother get an Amen? Amen, yes sir, Amen! If these people really wanted ratings, they would challenge each other to an epic cage match, put it on pay-per-view and give those FOX “NEWS” viewers what they really want–red meat, violence, and non-sense that does not require any thinking, reading or physical excursion…non-stop carnival action, for if you give the “people” enough distraction, coupled with a boat load of high-fructose corn syrup, useless carbs loaded with fat, sugar and salt, and a whole $hit load of alcohol, you can get them to do just about anything. They will respond to the dog whistles that have been configured by very intelligent, albeit maniacal, strategists, mostly republican, who use ‘focus groups’ to determine what will sell to a generally ignorant and uneducated audience, who respond well to fear, anger, blame, and revenge, especially if it is directed towards a man like President Barack Obama, who is unlike ‘them’– he is black, can read, write, and think critically–and thus, evokes FEAR, fear of what they don’t know, and they know they hate fear, so therefore they hate Obama. If those core emotional hangups are exploited, to which they largely ARE by current republican strategists and the men who pay them, namely corporate bad guys like David and Charles Koch, they have you on the slow drip Kool-Aid, and it is unlikely you will escape…for this is the hook that captures it’s prey, a hook that keeps it’s victims, in this case white middle class males and the growing working poor who have historically voted republican and therefore against their own best interests, blind to the TRUTH, a truth that would set them FREE! By accomplishing this, FOX NEWS and others have done a great dis-service to their viewing audience, for they have put them ALL in a dark cave, with no way out, save through the god given (more like god forbidden) republican ideology of ‘trickle down’ economics, or ‘free market’, or laissez-faire, or what it really is, VOODOO economics that only exacerbates the vicious cycle, fueling the Grand Canyon wealth gap in the United States of America, as big corporate polluters destroy our planet one gem at a ‘time’… Have a nice day folks, no, really enjoy this PRESENT day, for even with all of it’s sham drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world, strive to be happy!
