My Mantle to yours…

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 9:51 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the cool, clearing island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this twenty-sixth day of December, 2011, a dry day on Cape, after receiving quite a downpour yesterday as we made our way ‘over the river and through the woods to grandmother’s house we go‘, well, Falmouth, a town on the western half of the Cape, a nice meet and greet, hello, Merry Christmas to all the “fam” and head on out the door, back to God’s country, Cotuit, where this ‘message in a bottle’ is reaching you today, a town where you can still feel the Indian presence, filling the night air with a kind of mystic that you can’t quite put your finger on, but is palpable nonetheless, yes, Cotuit, a town that looks out onto many different bays, as it is a peninsula unto itself, surrounded by trees that make this area of Cape Cod somewhere in between,‘where the ocean meets the wood’… Not much going on today in politics, unless you consider Newt Gingrich, as well as Rick Perry, failing to get enough signatures to get on the ballot in Virginia, that, and the other ‘big’ story of the day, ‘returns’, yes, that all important story of how retailers are expecting a bounce from shoppers going back and returning all of those sweaters you would never wear, not even on a bet.  So, your options today, if you are anything like me, a filthy, liberal, tree huggin’, hippy, your options on this quite December morning are to either go out and get some exercise, watch FOX “NEWS”, or do the complete opposite by way of something for yourself, for as we ease on into this upcoming year, it would behoove one, it would seem to me, to take that inner journey that results, always, in a greater amount of peace in one’s life.  No one can do this for you, it must be done by and for yourself.  Think about it, you and your loved ones will be infinitely happier, and after all, is that not what this life, indeed this country, ‘the pursuit of happiness’, (credit Thomas Jefferson) is all about?  There are many books on this subject, by countless gurus, scholars, and world renown healers, but perhaps one of the best books I could recommend to anyone, as it worked for this cowboy, is a book by a man named Michael Brown, who wrote, “The Presence Process”, an inner journey (comprised of breathing techniques that keep one focused on the present moment, nothing more than that) that brings more PRESENCE into one’s life, thus more happiness. The results WILL astound you!  A disclaimer, I’ve only read and applied the principals of this book.  I neither work, nor am associated with said author in any way.  I just believe it to be a truly great gift to anyone who may be struggling right now… Food for thought if no one got you what you wanted for Christmas, Hanukkah, or Festivas this year!  All the best for this upcoming week and upcoming year! PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M
