Morning at Sea

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 10:01 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the great island of Nantucket!  So good to be with you and yours on this cold, very cold, morning here in Osterville, as we expect some more of the white stuff soon, while our friends in New York, Connecticut and the rest of Massachusetts expect another good dumping of the frozen moisture from above…ah, life in New England.  Politics is a funny thing, as I watched my favorite news shows, filled with FACTS, as opposed to fiction, as well as great insight from even greater reporters such as Howard Fineman from the Huffington Post– shows such as “Countdown, with Keith Olbermann”, “The Rachel Maddow Show”, “The Last Word, with Lawrence O’Donnell”, “Hardball”, with Chris Mathews, as well as football legend, Ed Shultz, of the “Ed Show”, all, only on MSNBC, oh, and by the way, I don’t work for MSNBC, I just like their style.  As I watched all of these shows, most of them taped, as I could not sleep if I watched all of that information prior to sleeping, what, with all of those happenings whizzing around my neuro-transmitters…as I purveyed the landscape of not only those outlets, but also “The PBS NEWSHOUR”, and “BBC World News America”, those shows I can actually watch before bedtime, for it gives me a few hours where I can wind down with a good book before falling asleep, a good book such as “True Compass”, a memoir of the late, great Last LION of the Senate, Ted Kennedy, a must read for any history buffs out there, yes, as I watched all of that information conclude, just moments ago, “yesterday’s news” as it were, I could only come up with a one word conclusion–HOPE. I believe there HAS been a tectonic shift in tone and blood thirsty rhetoric, and further, I believe the transparency that WE, collectively as a nation, have been yearning for, is finally here.  With constant “tweets”, “You Tube” postings, texts, the intranet, blogs, and a seemingly endless “Facebook” entries now available at the push of a button, we can now see, hear, taste, feel and even smell what is going on in this country 24/7/365.  Twenty four hours is a lifetime in the news cycle, yet what happened in Tuscon, Arizona a week and a half ago only seems to be picking up steam, not the other way around.  In other words, there has been a REAL shift in CONSCIOUSNESS and AWARENESS in this great country of ours, where, perhaps, some of the dreams of Martin Luther King Jr., Jack Kennedy and Abraham Lincoln are finally coming into a clear focus of REALIZATION, coming to fruition, taking root and not allowing the wicked crosswinds of “politics as usual” to sway them from their eternal perch–serving the nature of our better ANGELS. Have a wonderful day folks and GOD’S continued speed to Gabby Giffords, her family, and all of the victims of that horrible day.  PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M
