Mad Men

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the great island of Nantucket!  Great to be with you on this Sunday morning, the 7th day of November 2010, with cool, raw conditions being displayed, weather-wise, outside of my window this very early a.m..here’s hoping all is well with you and yours.  As we ease on into the ‘pundits room’ of intelligent discourse about the election results and what they mean to the country and indeed, world, at large, aspirin not included, brought to you by the corporate owned media where they may, or may not, allow you to speak the TRUTH without the plug being pulled from your microphone, I thought I might offer some discourse from Los Angeles and our friend Bill Maher, who hosts the reflective and insightful show “Real Time, with Bill Maher,” only on HBO. In a statement he made on Friday’s new show, Bill reflected on the recent “Restore America to Sanity” rally, hosted by John Stewart and Stephen Colbert, of the Daily Show and the Colbert Report respectively, where there was an equal measure given to “sanity” and the truly insane, mirroring what is really happening in the media these days if you are paying attention to all of das propaganda!  Yes, Bill said what we are all really thinking when he revealed, what I am about to offer verbatim, the huge divide between sane journalism and the mindless, Fred Flinstone, Kool Aid (laced with Hemlock) ‘vitamin’ show over on FOX “NEWS”–for to compare the two is akin to comparing the Sistine Chapel and the work of Michelangelo to a self portrait finger painting of Glenn Beck as he likens his presence to the Son of God himself–Jesus Christ.  This is for you Keith!  AND ACTION: “It seems to me that if you truly wanted to come down on the side of restoring sanity and reason, you’d side with the sane and the reasonable…and not to try and pretend that the insanity is equally distributed in both parties.  Keith Olbermann is right when he says he’s not the equivalent of Glenn Beck (AMEN)…one represents FACTS, the other is very close to playing with his own poop.  And the big mistake of modern media is this notion of balance for “balances” sake; that the left is just as violent and cruel as the right, that unions are just as powerful as corporations, that reverse racism is just as damaging as real racism–there’s a difference between a mad man and a madman!  Now getting 250,000 people to a liberal rally is a great achievement and it gave me hope…and what I really loved about it was that it was twice the size of Glenn Beck’s rally…but weighed twice as much!”  Watching Bill Maher’s show that night, with one of the panel being none other than Darrell Issa (R-CA) who looks and acts more like ‘Mad Men’ star Jon Hamm than Jon Hamm does and with that crazy look in his eyes, scares me just as much, (not really).  It seems that REPUBLICORP is going back in time, BACK TO THE FUTURE, if you will, back to the days of three martini lunches and the streets of Madison Avenue in New York City where the magical world of advertising can convince you of just about anything, save your belief that you really think for yourself and you don’t live in fear everyday of what the multi-corporate media wishes to put on your intellectual dinner plate tonight–more LIES and innuendo anyone?  Bottom line–GLOBAL WARMING IS REAL. Republicorp’s integrity is not real.  Have a blessed Sunday folks and say a little prayer for one of the true heroes of AMERICAN journalistic INTEGRITY, Keith Olbermann, of “Countdown, with Keith Olbermann,” only on MSNBC, who could use a shot of LOVE right about NOW.   PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M
