Inauguration Day 2009

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 9:28 am

Inauguration Day!  President elect Obama will be sworn in as our 44th President of the United States of America today at noon.  An historic day for so many reasons, the biggest being the growth in human beings as a species, for the ceremony takes place at the Capitol building in Washington DC, a building that was built by slaves only 200 years prior.  The VIP seats for the viewing of the event, the front row or rock star seats sit in the same field that held the tent city that housed the slave workers who built that beloved monument.  When we look at a crumbling economy and a warring world, we should not despair, for those things have always been part of the history of man.  But, if we look deeper at the significance of the symbol of today’s inauguration, not the color of a person’s skin, but the essense of their character and more importantly the essense of the character of a nation that elected a black man to the white house, saw beyond the hatred and fear of racism, and indeed called out to our better angels to lead us down a different path, one that allows us all to look into the mirror and see a nation healing and a world rejoicing.  Peace M
