Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the clear, cold, rather blue skied island of Nantucket! Great to be with you and yours on this first day of the great month of February, 2013, and looking out my window, it seems that, at least for now, the weather has calmed a bit, acting more like February should, with seasonable temperatures and the slight ‘risk’ of snow in the forecast for the week end.  Of course this is “Superbowl Sunday”, only hours from now, with the great San Francisco 49ers combating against the Baltimore Ravens–the 47th Superbowl to date…  Having lived on the “left” coast for half of my life, I am rooting for the 49ers, for who could forget the dynasty that was forged by the great Joe Montana, Jerry Rice and famed head coach Bill Walsh, who brought four Superbowl titles to that great city by the bay in the late eighties.  Good Luck to all players and may the best team win!  Chuck Hagel was grilled yesterday on Capitol Hill, by the Senate in an eight hour confirmation hearing for his nomination to become the next Secretary of Defense.  None so much as a former brother in arms, Senator John McCain, (R-AZ), who blasted the former Senator and Vietnam veteran for being ’soft of Iran’, not agreeing to the ’surge’ in Iraq and basically not following along party lines.  Not surprising, but keeping up the status quo of silly men who are out of step with REALITY on the ground in the 21st century.  I pray he is confirmed, for he is a good man and will be, most likely, as he saw battle, with 5 purple hearts to his credit, on the ground as an enlisted man, one the real troops can rally behind as one of their OWN, for they KNOW HE has their backs.  Have a great week end folks and keep on dodging those wooden nickles thrown about by the likes of FOX NEWS, whose new poster boy is the mad man spokesperson for the NRA, the National Rifle Association, give it up for Wayne Lapierre!  A man who represents gun sellers who don’t seem to understand that people don’t need a 9 millimeter Glock with a clip holding over 30 rounds of ammunition–for ANYTHING, especially when it has been proven time and time again that these weapons do not belong in a civilized society.  PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M
