Have a Heart

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 6:55 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the great island of Nantucket!  Very good, as always, to be with you on this Friday morning, the first day of October, 2010, as we here on the Cape and islands are experiencing some rather humid conditions at 6 a.m., EST, with some light sprinkles expected today… Quite a week it has been in Washington D.C., as the politicians are gearing up for what will prove to be the fight of the century for the heart and soul of “America”, for if you have any lingering doubts as to the importance of these mid-term elections on November 2, you might want to consider some of the proposals the new and improved “republican tea party”, or RTP, will be attempting to force down the “American People’s” throats come election day.  If you look back at the failed investment banking firm of Shearson Brothers, circa 2008, and subsequent equivalent of holding a gun to the congress’ head, forcing the people of this country to deliver on a 850 billion dollar bailout for Wall Street while leaving Main street high and dry, you are only looking at part of the equation.  Lost in translation this election cycle, is the fact that trillions of dollars evaporated into the mist during this epic financial crisis, most of which were embedded in average Americans’ pensions and 401(k) accounts who lost, on average, 40 percent of their worth.  The RTP, in a virtual choir of rhetorical nonsensical lockstep, claim that they plan to overhaul the one solvent and working “government” program, that is extremely popular, Social Security, and privatize it.  In other words, the RTP wishes, at the behest of Wall Street executives, that pull their little, invisible strings, to place this most holy of safety nets for our seniors and persons with disabilities, retirees and the like and place those untouched funds into the private system of the stock market, taking off 5 percent right off the top, as opposed to the less than 1 percent overhead currently, which will put our grandparents’ and the most vulnerable of our citizens at the whim of Wall Street, the den of thieves that nearly took this country down.  The RTP cares nothing for “our kids” or the “next generation”, for if they did, they would stop this denial of GLOBAL WARMING that threatens us all, collectively, as a species.  They care nothing for the next generation when they allow companies like Koch Industries to pour 596 chemicals into the ground via the “fracking process”, hydraulic fracturing of shale rock with high pressure water mixed with those 596 chemicals, that seep into wells, rivers, inlets and into your body, causing health problems to countless people, animals and plant life in 37 states now.  They don’t care about “the kids of the next generation” when they blindly follow hate, promote fear, intolerance and encourage violence, via Sharron “Angle’s” “second amendment remedies”.  They don’t care about the next generation when they wish to abolish the Department of Education, while 53 percent of children in inner city schools don’t graduate from high school, leaving them in the streets of America to fight for whatever life they can scrape together, children who are slipping under the cracks of society.  They don’t care anything for the next generation when they ship jobs overseas, to boost corporate profits, while cutting off unemployment benefits for millions who can’t find a job, and thus, nor can their kids, nor will they be able to, as our competing friends like China, India, Brazil and Germany rocket past our youth, grabbing the good jobs and leaving the service jobs like McDonald’s to our youth of tomorrow.  They care nothing for those same youth when they allow multi-national corporations to rape and pillage our land for our natural resources, giving nothing back to society at large, in fact blocking our attempts to get at the truth regarding such horrible “spills” as the Deep Water Horizon, effectively destroying the waters of the Gulf, and with the upcoming abolition of the Environmental Protection Agency along with MMS, who knows how many other natural places of wonder the RTP will soil.  The RTP cares nothing for our kids or our grand-kids, unless you are one of the top 2 percent, have a possibility to attend Harvard or Yale, and thus, have an opportunity to carry on the “family” fortune, attitude and action of the ever growing trend towards a true PLUTOCRACY in the good ‘ole U.S. of A.  Therefore, this election day, please remember these FACTS about the RTP and vote accordingly, for even though it seems bad now, the alternative is much worse.       Have a wonderful week end folks! PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M
