Harbor Morning

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 5:49 am

On a very cold and early morning here in Osterville, Massachusetts, I bid you a fair adieu.  With the temperature of 23 degrees F and below freezing temperatures for quite some time now, the harbors are beginning to freeze with the possible exception of the busiest harbor on Cape Cod, Hyannis Harbor.  You may be able to make out the “Grey Lady 2″ as she steams south-southeast on her way to Nantucket, roughly 27 miles away.  Not much going on here on Cape Cod at the moment, being 4:37 a.m., but rest assured there is always something going on both here on Cape Cod proper, as well as the islands of Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard.  Perhaps the best time to be here is the Winter, with the ever present dunes, harbors and hope.  Hope because of the solitude, not the absence of it.  The silence of mornings, devoid of loud, meaningless noise, are most prized and sought after here on Cape Cod.  For it is in finding those moments of silence that we find ourselves and realize that it is all worthwhile, this thing called Life, even if it may not seem so at the “time”.  Have a wonderful week end and Saturday morning…  Peace~ M
