Happy New Year from Cape Cod!

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 10:36 am

Greeting and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the foggy, misty island of Nantucket! Great to be with you and yours on this December 31st, 2011, the very last day of the year if you can believe it, and if you are wondering what happened to all of that ‘time’, you are not alone.  It has been one heck of a year, briefly summed up yesterday by little old seacapecod.net, and I wish to thank you for reading “Michael’s Blog”, and for visiting this website, whenever you may have, all year long, as this ‘message in a bottle’ has been all around the world now, and what a beautiful world it is that WE all share!  Thank you world! Perhaps that is the one good thing about this whole ‘globalization’ thing, even with multinational corporations taking over the planet and polluting it for THEIR profit, with the little people having no say in the kind of world we want to leave our kids and grand kids, i.e., a world.  I believe WE are beginning to sea we are all in this together.  For if, or better yet, when, for they already are, the seas rise due to mankind’s abuse of Mother Earth in the poor island nation of Maldives, they will also rise in rich New York City, for–water knows no international borders. Our summers here in the United States will be just as hot as those suffering in Moscow, as will our winter’s be just as ‘whacky’…Russia, once our sworn ‘enemy’.  Much of our awakening this upcoming year will come via the new social media of Twitter, Facebook, and much faster speeds on the Internet, along with the wonderful devices created by geniuses like the late, great Steve Jobs, and much more in the way of access, increasing KNOWLEDGE and the application of it around the world, making that world a much better place to live in.  This has already begun, prompting the ‘fire felt all over the world’, with a fruit vendor in Tunisia lighting himself on fire in protest of the horrible living/working conditions common people face all over the world, as the wealthy get wealthier at the expense of their fellow man.  Yes, one man lighting himself, literally, on fire, inducing this epic Arab Spring, creating revolutions in countries all over the Middle East, continuing on in Syria and Egypt today, a ’spring’ that gave rise to our own version of it via “Occupy Wall Street”, where people from all walks of life in this country are beginning to comprehend what the heck has been going on in ‘these here United States of America’ for the past, oh, three decades or so at least, prompting large institutions to defend themselves and ‘lawyer up’, via their mouthpieces in Washington D.C., the sad puppet show, crying foul, ironically branding the ‘filthy, hippy, tree huggin’ scumbags’ as creating a ‘culture war’ on the poor rich.  Rich. There has been no doubt the political games will continue as we ease on into 2012, a year that will see the reelection of President Barack Obama, as the republican field attempts to pull the wool over the ‘American People’s’ (credit Mitch McConnell, R-KY) eyes one more time with a constant barrage of negative ads paid for by those corporate plutocrat’s enormously deep bank accounts, all thanks to the John Robert’s Supreme court, who, in 2010, decided that “corporations are people too” (Citizens United 2010 U.S. Supreme Court decision–5-4), Mitt Romney’s middle name, (republican front runner with 25 percent in the Iowa caucuses in three days), allowing them to put unlimited monies into ’super pacs’, political action committees, therefore now holding enormous influence over American elections, a decision designed to ‘fool all of the people all of the time’, a feat that republican President Abraham Lincoln stated could never be accomplished.  This year will be a year to remember that is for sure, for what do we really know of ancient cultures like the Mayans anyhow?  Such as their calendar ending on 12/21/12?  With many predicting that date to be the ‘end of the world’, I don’t buy it, do you?  Email me if you have some inside information.  However, one thing is for sure, “God does not play dice with the universe…”, a statement made by Albert Einstein many moons ago, a deeply scientific man as we all know, but also spiritual as well, also stating something another ’spiritual’ man might have said many more moons ago than that, different words, same meaning of “Love thy neighbor”...”the only life worth living, is a life that is lived in the service of another.” I think if we think along these lines, perhaps only a few moments of every day, things just might be OK.  May you have a wonderful New Year, with safety, abundance, light, love and frogs!  As those little amphibians are THE barometer for the planet that WE ALL share! PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M
