Golden Eagle

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the, again, shimmering starry skies of Nantucket! Great to be with you and yours on this Friday, December the second, 2011, a beautiful, cold, clear morning, black, save the naked specks of light shining far above this little blue rock called earth…  “Occupy”, day 77, begins again all across this great land of OURS, a movement that is not ‘fun’ in nature.  It is spit upon by the lame stream corporate media outlets, who, ironically, sell it out in favor of some pharmaceutical giant, peddling pain relief products on the NBC Nightly News, painting the youth, the unions, and other activists as ‘trouble makers’, among other, more colorful adjectives, all while the GRAND CANYON gap between the haves and the have nots continues to widen.  A weapon the republican party, in forty states now, wields to continue that trend is the vote itself, making the one basic, unalienable right more difficult for seniors, students, minorities and the down and out to exercise, needing those new voter ID’s that ten percent of the population cannot attain for many different reasons.  Can someone say real voter fraud?  “Countdown, with Keith Olbermann”, airing every week night at eight p.m., eastern standard ‘time’, only on Current TV, and re-airing again at 11 that night, 2 a.m., 7, noon and three the next day, had, as his guest last night, the great singer, songwriter and activist Jackson Brown, a man who needs no introduction.  Mr. Brown spoke to these people in ‘power’, commenting that they are, indeed, getting nervous, especially with all of the brutal police tactics employed to squash the “Occupy” camps, from New York to Los Angeles, Denver to Boston, Minneapolis to Phoenix, yes, responding in such a way that might seem to indicate they are officially,“…freaking out.” When you have giants like Brown, Crosby, Stills and Nash, among many others, speaking out on behalf of these brave protesters who are following in the footsteps of the mythical protests in 1968, whereupon, after that civil rights movement was successful in changing our behavior and attitudes towards not only African-Americans, but also women…you may just be on to something here.  Jackson pointed out that there was a drought and an apathy of sorts among OUR people for many years, whereupon the ‘powers that be’, at that moment in ‘time’, took advantage of the society WE all share, and brought this country to where it stands today, divided, poorer, and hungry.  While ninety-nine percent of it’s people look up at the towering symbols of capitalism and ask themselves, ‘what does any of this have to do with me or my family?’. Our old pal Frank Luntz, Google, if you will, ‘word doctors’, and you will get all you need on this guy, yes, old Luntz, the spin doctor himself, has been up to his old ‘teachings’ of late, hired to coach the masters of the talking point du jour, what to say in regards to this undesirable ’side effect’ of FREE SPEECH, namely, “Occupy Wall Street”, employed to come up with alternative double speak when confronted with ugly words like “inequality” or “the rich must pay their fair share”… Luntz states that the politicians on the ‘right’, as well as the wealthy corporate overlords who pull their strings, must abandon words like ‘capitalism’, replacing it with the words, ‘free market’.  That’s right, it’s a fun game WE can all play at home!  What else Frank, tell US please!, what other words has your tireless focus group come up with to avoid at all cost?  What’s that you say?  Avoid saying ‘government taxes the rich’, opting for ‘government TAKES from the rich’? Brilliant. Luntz also recommends not saying ‘defending the middle class’, as that word has become tainted, rather, say, ‘defending the hard working tax payers’. Also, after drinking your GOP approved Kool-Aid, please refrain from saying, “government spending”, utter the one syllable word “waste” instead.  Don’t ever ask anyone to ’sacrifice’, instead, recreate the cliched statement of ‘we’re all in this together’ (please bite tongue to keep from laughing out loud), and finally, please don’t EVER blame Wall Street, rather, blame WASHINGTON. Oh, and one more thing, never, ever say the word, under no circumstances, the word “Ni” (credit the “The Knights who say ‘Ni!”, from the classic 1974 film ‘Monty Python and the Holy Grail’), yes, and also, do not ever say the word, ‘bonus’, opting for the foggy ‘pay for performance’, OK?  Got it?  Good. Spin, spinning, SPUN. The GOP actually pays old Frank Luntz, a republican strategist, big bucks for this stuff, PROVING the GOP is full of horse$hit, and could not care less if they tried about the ‘American People’, Ni?, (please Google those Knights who till most recently said Ni!) who have, thanks to Mitch, ‘the mouse’, McConnell (R-KY), become the number one talking point in this here United States of America, as they attempt, one more time, as Jackson Brown might have said, to pull the wool over those real American eyes, who may, by now, be seeing the LIGHT for the very first time.  Have a great week end folks and thanks again to Jackson Brown for giving a little back, bringing the spirit of this holiday season into the hearts and minds of the majority of people who live and breathe in this great nation, a nation, lest WE forget, built on that principal of WE THE PEOPLE, all living together in a democracy, with a little letter ‘d’, ‘of, by and for those PEOPLE’, especially the ‘little people’, the meek, those souls, who, as Jesus himself once said, ‘would inherit the earth’… PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS!  Peace on earth, good will to men~M
