Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the great island of Nantucket! Good to be with you on this Sunday morning, the twenty sixth day of September, 2010, while we enjoy a beautiful mid-fall morning here on Cape, with warm temperatures and sunny skies…Indian summer if you will. The beautiful Osprey’s are flying home for the winter, south, as you might have guessed. These magnificent sea birds of prey, perhaps the best “fisherman” out there in that sub-set of species, fly as far south as the Amazon river basin and will stay there until the snow begins to melt once again and spring fulfills it’s eternal promise of renewal and rebirth. The time is 10:21 a.m., EST, and I thought I would take a break from the Sunday morning talk shows, as I just witnessed the coy, dry, cynicism of minority leader of the Senate, Mitch, “the mouse”, McConnell (R-KY) who just appeared on “This Week”, with Christiane Amanpour. I had not eaten breakfast yet, and I’m not really sure when I will be able to digest anything solid after listening to our “friend” on the, now, extreme far right of this country’s real center speak to the Bush tax cuts of 2001 and 2003, the new republican tea party’s, or RTP, “Lemon” Pledge (credit Keith Olberman, MSNBC) to “America”, which should, of course, have been titled, “the right wing (nut) pledge to multi-national corporations and billionaires who have hijacked this country”, and his dodging of some very direct questions from Christiane concerning Nevada Senate hopeful, republican tea party extraordinaire, Sharron “Angle”, and her rhetoric about “second amendment remedies”…McConnell, when asked by Amanpour, is this a little extreme?, answered, obviously angry, “you know what is scary, the left wing progressive agenda and their out of control spending in Washington D.C…..” the same tired old talking points that one would expect to hear from this out of touch and uncaring minority group in this country who don’t give a damn about, “the American people,” for if they did, they would let the Bush tax cuts expire, thus assuring that the “American tax payer” won’t have to bear the burden of giving the rich, those who make over 1 million dollars a year, an extra $100,000., money that we are borrowing from China and will result in adding 700 billion dollars to our national debt. Sadly, the democrats have seemed to give up on the whole idea, burdened with tough local elections and having to fight on a daily basis the lies and propaganda that is being put out there by the combination of slick Madison avenue advertising coupled with the prowess and cunning of republican strategists like Frank Luntz and Karl Rove who have tapped into 3 billionaires who are pumping huge amounts of liquid cash into the campaigns of unqualified candidates like Christine O’Donnell running as the tea party “witch” candidate in the great state of Delaware. Oh my, I think I’m going to be sick. All I can tell you is that it is imperative that you look at these candidates for who they are really LOYAL to, not what they may say on or off camera. Follow the money. Have a blessed Sunday folks! PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M
