Free Enterprise? Bueller? Anyone?
Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the gloomy, foggy, misty island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this Wednesday morning, the twenty-third day of May, 2012, drying out after a two day soaker, as the Cardinal, Chickadee, Robin, Blue Jay, Belted King Fisher, Great Blue Heron, the Oyster Catcher, the cat bird and the sea crow all wake up and sing their symphonic chorus of nature, day in and day out, reminding this reporter that it’s not all bad. However, having said that, I do believe that some alien force has come down and replaced this ‘not your grandfather’s GOP’ collective brains with, as Gene Wilder’s side kick ‘Igor’ (played by the great Marty Feldman) put it in the classic film, circa 1974, “Young Frankenstein”, an “abby normal brain”, one giant, crazy, abnormal brain, a brain that insanely repeats all of the same self serving talking points, over and over again, ad nauseum, out of different mouths, prompting the young Dr. Frankenstein to grab a hold of Igor’s throat, screaming at him, “…are you telling me that we just put an abnormal brain in an 800 pound gorilla? (Citizens United). Is that what you are telling me!!”. In a nutshell, that is what I’m telling you. This clearly hijacked, Stockholm Syndrome plagued ‘new coke’ republican party is up to no good, and I truly realized this when watching the best news hour on television today (along with Bill Moyers and Company, Sundays on PBS, please Google listings! you won’t be sorry!), “Politics Nation”, with the great Reverend Al Sharpton (who not only talks his talk, but moreover walks his WALK), who spoke on last night’s show to the FACT that FOX “NEWS”‘ attempts every day to paint this great President, Barack Obama, as an “outsider”, an “alien”, “not American”, “against free enterprise” (even though he has brought it up time after time, stating unequivocally that free enterprise is the backbone of our American society and it, free enterprise, is what made this country great), “a socialist”, or worse. And as these bubble headed bleach blondes over at–take your pick of poisonous shows from the FOX “NEWS” spice rack–continue their mission, via that mean old CEO of FOX, Roger Ailes, a mouthpiece for the “United States of Exxon-Mobile” and their brethren, who care NOTHING for the average man or woman, child living in this great land today, no sir, theirs is the ‘pursuit of profit’, many, if not most of the ‘time’ at the expense of everyone else’s ‘pursuit of happiness’–yes, as these ‘journalistic puppets continue spouting the LIES they spout, the old adage of “George” from Seinfeld comes forth with a very, very bright LIGHT indeed, stating, “it’s not a lie if you believe it.” Of course, taking it to the next level by repeating the LIE over and over again, knowing that many will SEA it to be true! Thomas Jefferson too, would have been quite nauseated indeed if he lived in this day and age, listening to the hypocrisy coming out of the mouth of a say Sarah Palin, famous wolf hater, who just a few months ago, along with Rick Perry (who should have been the nominee, for he seems as though there is a heart in there somewhere…), Newt Gingrinch, Jon Huntsman (another good man), Rick Santorum and others, stating their ‘concerns’ over at this so called ‘job creation’ at Bain Capital and whether or not Mitt Romney’s tall tale of being a self professed “job creator” actually held any water… (water laced with deadly fracking fluid perhaps), it does not. The facts will bear all of this out in the end, for it is truly a matter of warped and ill guided, not to mention ill intentioned perception versus reality of what IS and what is NOT. The Heritage Foundation, Crossroads/GPS, Americans for Prosperity, Restore America’s Future, and every other “super” PAC, with their dirty, angry money, to quote my friend Chris Mathews, of “Hardball” (airing every weeknight at 5 p.m., followed up by that great show that feels like you are in church, “Politics Nation”, at six sharp, only, of course, of MSNBC), will continue filling the airwaves (with the hopes of getting as many gullible registered voters to buy their LIE), with a filth almost as bad as the filth pouring out of all those ‘natural gas’ wells that are destroying our water, air and land again, for the profit of monster companies like Exxon-Mobil, whose wealth dwarfs entire sovereign national GDP’s, such as the country of Sweden, filth designed by Machiavellian minds to fool the American people into going back to the social policies of the 1950’s, the environmental policies of the 1970’s, and the economic policies of this past decade (credit Vice President Biden in a speech yesterday), dragging US backwards as opposed to FORWARDS, which is what this election and campaign of President Barack Obama is all about–moving forward, choo! choo!–that and a FAIR SHAKE for ALL. For it was a mere 236 years ago, a group of brave men signed a Declaration of Independence from the Tyranny coming from their own King, King George the third of England, who ruled over the colonies with an iron fist, demanding taxation without representation, as well as many other restrictive policies. The way congress is today, unfortunately for the majority of the American people, the only people being “represented” are big corporations, whose lobbyists crawl across the Capitol like so many ants on an ant hill, scrambling around like insects doing their masters bidding, namely to screw over, say it with me Mitch McConnell of Kentucky if you dare, “THE AMERICAN PEOPLE”!
