February Dunes

On a cool Tuesday morning here in Osterville, Massachusetts, snow flying once again on the rocks of Dowses Beach, I hope you are warm and safe wherever you may be at this moment in “time”.  There are many items of interest on the agenda this week in the world, redundant as that sounds, but we live in a time where every day is a day of history in the making.  Every day is another chance to wake up and observe the world in which we all live, and more importantly, all share.  Perhaps that is the one disconnect that the now infamous “party of NO” is failing to see clearly.  The irony is that these men of “power”, muddying the waters of change, cling to the “word of God” in their daily press conferences and truly believe that they speak for the CREATOR of this small fragile planet, as well as the Universe as a whole.  One of the central messages that Jesus himself said over 2000 years ago was simply this, “What you do to the least of me, you do unto me.”  On February 25th the White House will hold a summit in Washington D.C. to promote an open dialogue regarding a real problem in this country, health care.  Despite what you may think about providing health care to all citizens of the United States as a matter of moral consciousness and as a human right, the truth about the current system is this–we spend 1 out of every 6 dollars on health care (roughly 17 percent of our GDP) and if the current system remains in place, that number will rise to 1 out of every 3 dollars, bankrupting families around the country who are not independently wealthy.  This system is taking money from good, hard working families and giving it to CEO’s of the pyramid scheme known as health care in the United States of America.  Moreover, it is increasing our national debt, as the emergency room is now the primary care physician for most Americans below the poverty line.  This affects us all.  In California recently, a case in point, an insurance carrier named Anthem Blue Cross of California raised their premiums by a whopping 39 percent, while the company’s bottom line (profit for 2009) was 2.7 Billion dollars.  I am no math genius, but in the words of George W. Bush, “that sounds like fuzzy math to me”… This is not an isolated incident.  It is happening all over the U.S., and as the monopolies grow stronger, the rape and pillage of the American people will continue, with no end in sight.  Make no mistake about it, the sham of the “detente” in Washington on February 25th is political and the republican party will vote NO, as they know that most Americans do not understand the fine print, and will vote that way no matter what.  Why?  To gain as many seats in the upcoming 2010 elections in November as possible.  This is a calculated, manipulated, crooked, ungodly, scam the GOP is serving up to the American people and should be viewed in the light of truth for what it and they truly represent–their own interests.  “What you do to the least of me, you do unto me…”  Have a nice Tuesday!  Peace~ M
