December Freeze

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the great island of Nantucket!  So good to be with you on this Tuesday morning, a beautiful one here in Osterville, although that line is getting old, as it IS always beautiful here in Osterville, and I wish you and yours a warm, happy day wherever this message in a bottle may be reaching you.  In the immortal words of Anne Murray and one of her signature songs, “No bad news today”, I have no bad news to report today.  The BUSH era tax cuts have been extended, but it was not, as many of my colleagues would argue, a complete disaster, although in the long term there MUST be some fundamental changes to the tax code (see “FREE LUNCH”, a book by the great economist, Pulitzer prize winner, and professor at Syracuse University…David Cay Johnston), for the real “American People”, some anyway, will see an extension of their unemployment benefits for at least the next year and hopefully, giving US some time to REALIZE what is really going on here–the “Grand Canyon” effect, where the wealthiest members of our society, who enjoy being a citizens as much as someone who is poor, continue to gain, while said “poor” people who were born into a middle class societal structure, established 50 years ago, are sent to the bottom of that canyon.  The deal was struck only late last night and for some, it is a blessing, for what could be worse than being a GRINCH on Christmas? So, have a good day and think some positive thoughts, for as those thoughts are sent out to the UNIVERSE, a non-digitalized universe, we may eventually SEE that light that WE all seek at the end of a very dark and disturbing tunnel.  Have a wonderful day!  PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M
