D.C.’s Fear and Loathing…
Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the very wet and wild island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this soggy Friday morning here on little old Cape Cod. It is the fourteenth day of November, the year, 2014, a year that many in the world will never forget…
For it seems this is the year of the (fingers crossed!) plutocratic takeover of the United States of America, via the newly elected puppets in Washington D.C., as we gear up for a showdown between the very fine 44th President of the United States, Barack Obama, and the ever growing power of this rather transparent fake grass roots ‘tea party’ (praying on the ignorant U.S. electorate who vote down Republican party lines; mostly to their own detriment, as this 2014 GOP does not have the common, everyday ‘Joe six pack’s’ best interests’ in mind, via their many outlandish proposed POLICIES written by and large via A.L.E.C. (American Legislative Exchange Council), The Heritage Foundation and other republican think tanks in the D.C. area), policies that favor their bosses, the top .001 percent. Politicians who will most likely attempt to impeach the leader for using his Executive Authority (his RIGHT) to tackle the very real and human problem of over 5 million undocumented immigrants in this country (a country of immigrants), bringing them out of the shadows to have a shot at this mostly elusive (again, because of GOP policies now and in the future),
“American Dream”…
The now seemingly all red House of Representatives will be voting on the Keystone XL Pipeline today, with the Senate expected to possibly vote on and pass it as well, many Democrats trading madness for reason in the process, and thus, Obama may be put in yet another “hostage” situation, as the GOP employes ‘the Stockholm Syndrome’ once again (a phenomenon whereby the captors, i.e the ‘American people‘, feel sorry for their captors, e.g. ‘the good people at the ‘oil and natural gas companies’, in the attempt to jam bills through Congress that are clearly not good for the VAST majority of her people…
Bills such as the cataclysmic folly of this horrible pipeline through the middle of OUR nation–across the vital Ogallala Aquifer–claiming it will ‘ween us off foreign oil’ and make us ‘more secure as a nation’ (that old bit), claiming it will ‘create’ tens of thousands of jobs (estimates say a few thousand for 2 years while the ‘dang thing is being built and then 40 full time jobs, tops), while it locks this country into a dirty, oily future ripe with many inevitable leaks, spills or outright gushers, making a few very, very rich, while doing absolutely nothing for the country’s people as a whole, as it puts (along with the other oil, gas and coal companies reserves) 5 times more carbon dioxide/methane into the atmosphere than the atmosphere can handle, hence the statement made by 97 percent of climate scientists in the world today (the other 3 percent are bought by Koch Industries and the like), “…if the Keystone XL Pipeline is built, it will spell lights out for the environment.”.
Of course, 97 percent of real men of science could be wrong, but are you willing to take that chance, moreover, take the word of some bloody politician who is in the back pocket of the Koch Brothers?
These ‘men’ who claim to represent the people of this country are full of hor$e$hit. I wish the media would just come out and say so. But they won’t. Nor will they tell you any more than they, the corporate titans who bring you Brian Williams, Scott Pelley and now David Muir of NBC, CBS and ABC respectively, want you to know. ‘The less you know’ is our bread and butter baby! Giving perhaps ten seconds of air time to the story of what will, and already IS, happening to the environment as a whole.
But far more importantly WHY it is happening. Not the science, we know that, the question is who is making it happen and why are they doing it? That never makes it to Brian’s desk.
The sad truth is that most of US will wake up only when it is too late to do anything about it, although I hope I am wrong about that one. The news media has a sacred OATH to tell the TRUTH (the very definition of journalism, with many doing an OUTSTANDING JOB, i.e. some programming on MSNBC–you know who you are!) and in my mind that sacred truth has been hidden, bought and sold like so many cattle. The days of the great Walter Cronkite of the old “CBS Evening News” are over in the main stream media and if you hipsters out there think you are above it all, watching the ‘news’ on your I-phones or tablets, always in sixth gear, you may want to reconsider. The content provided to you is mostly well choreographed and sanitized for your protection is it not? Sure, there are lots of buzzes and bells; sex, hot colors and loud noises, the many outrages and Hollywood gossip until you just can’t take any more. But real news that has any of the right stuff; stories that will effect you and yours in the years to come, such as GLOBAL WARMING and who is mostly responsible for said warming? That you have to look for.
“Seek and ye shall find!”
Most Knowledge is like that though–and the wealthy know it.
POWER consolidated at the top of the food chain never leads to joy. At least not to the subjects under it’s spell. I hope that President Barack Obama keeps pushing these next two years, with his legacy reflecting that ‘at the end of the day’…
Fighting these idiots who say you are ‘poisoning the well’ if you act alone, f them! They poisoned the well the moment Obama was elected. In 2010 Republican Kentucky Senator Mitch McConnell actually stating that the GOP’s number one goal is to make Obama a one term president; obstruct him at every turn, thus making him look weak and ineffectual…and it almost worked. Now he just doesn’t give a damn about your attitude or your warped agenda. This is not a black or white thing, this is a right and WRONG thing.
What is right for the majority of the American people vs. What is right for the plutocratic class.
We shall SEA! Have a nice week end folks and beware of those wooden nickles thrown about by FOX ‘news’ Sunday. Side effects still include, but are not limited to, severe abdominal pain, delusions of grandeur, hallucinations, fever, nausea, and the rare projective vomiting that could be linked to, but not yet confirmed, the dreaded virus Ebola!
