“Crossing the Delaware”

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 5:02 pm

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the sunny, bone chilling cold island of Nantucket! Brrrrr, it is cold out there!  Of course, I don’t have to tell you that if you live anywhere in the northeast or even down south… Mother Nature ‘ain’t playing ’round no more, no sir!  The gloves are off; humans are going to have to real eyes that GLOBAL WARMING is “not a hoax”…

Of course, that does not really bother any of the presidents we honor today, men who have served this country well, at least most of them, with one in particular set aside for this year’s ‘tribute’ to great American presidents’, alive or dead.

George Washington was born on  February 22, 1732 and became the first President of the United States (1789-1797).  He was also this nation’s first “Commander-in-Chief” of the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War, and one of the Founding Fathers of the United States.  He presided over the drafting of the United States Constitution, which replaced the Articles of Confederation and remains the supreme law of the land.  The Federalists made him the symbol of their party for many years.  The Jeffersonians continued to distrust his influence and delayed building the Washington Monument.  As the leader of the first successful revolution against a colonial empire in world history, Washington became an international icon for liberation and nationalism.  He is consistently ranked in the top three presidents of the United States, according to polls of both scholars and the general public.

What would Washington have done about the horror surrounding the killing group known as ISIL? Hiding behind Islam; nothing more than base evil that has existed since the dawn of time.  President Barack Obama is wise to keep low, below the radar, not allowing for the leadership of the hateful group be the tail wagging the dog, for the great man known as Washington could not have imagined an “I-phone” or a Jumbo jet, so how could our ancient civilization road map, guideline really, i.e. the U.S. Constitution, indeed how could that old, very old manuscript apply to every situation we face in ultra modern 21st Century America?  Some terror, like the terrifying thought of two businessmen taking this country over via a puppet like Walker frightens one even more than the isolated chance of being hit by a stray ISIL bullet.  A country as democratic, just, free and fair as OURS, should not be up for sale to the highest bidder.  And that, my friends, is something I think we ALL can agree upon, well perhaps not all…

Enjoy the day off if you have it!  Otherwise, have a great week ahead everybody!
