Chatham Mist

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 8:00 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket!  On a very humid morning here in Osterville, I hope you are enjoying the start to your week end.  On a lighter note, a couple of nights ago, Keith Olberman, on his show airing on MSNBC every week night at 8 p.m. EST, “debunks” the newly “established” “Beck University”, a hilarious view of “higher learning” at it’s best from a man who is clearly insane…and they said the educational system in this country is going to heck in a hand basket.  Shame on you, look at what Glenn Beck is doing for our children!  Here you have a talk show stooge, who rants and raves every night on the politically funded and directed FOX NEWS, rewriting the history of the United States (with the help of the Texas board of education), not to mention the world, and moreover, the true meaning of the words of Jesus Christ himself (who will be taking a few courses at Beck U so he is in line with the “new” rewritten words that he himself spoke).  Keith’s guest on July 8th’s show was the author Chris Rodda, who is the senior director for the military religious freedom foundation, and wrote a book entitled, “Liars for Jesus,” the religious right’s alternative version of American History. Glenn Beck’s tee shirt sales of “Beck University Debate Team” may not break any records, but his flat out lies about American history, more specifically the separation of church and state, leaves one puzzled–a bizarre scheme to confuse the ignorance in this country further than it already IS.  Beck would have you believe, as he “claims” to believe, and more to the point, what his corporate handlers want you to believe for their bottom line benefit–the separation of church and state was NOT what the founding fathers had in mind.  That even though they went to great lengths to spell that out (the separation of church and state) in no uncertain terms–the fact that no specific religious affiliation should interfere or control, in any way, the functions of the Republic, whose foundation is the Constitution of the United States, it still escapes the ‘mind’ of Glenn Beck.  They could see the dangers in a government influenced by one faith (a big reason why they left England to begin with), for they knew that manipulation, coercion and corruption would soon follow, and in order to be a truly free democracy and society, AS IT WAS WRITTEN, there must be a clear and distinct line drawn between the many faiths of a nation and the government that is leading it.  This fact was spelled out quite clearly in the ‘Declaration of Independence’ and the Constitution of the United States, but the p.o.h.n. would like you to believe, and they will do just about anything to convince you of this “fact”, that our founding fathers wanted the “Christian Faith” to co-govern with the Judicial, Legislative, and Executive branches of government–bringing joy, love and peace to all.  “Professor Barton”, (ironic name, any relation to Joe Barton of Texas?) was Beck’s first Laurette (of what, I have no idea) and proclaimed, in his first “seminar”, that because the forefathers, during the writing of the Declaration of Independence, took a 3 day break during the 4th of July celebrations and the fact that those celebrations took place in churches, where all social gatherings took place in that time period, then the document in question must be Christian and therefore, there WAS and IS no separation between government and what religion the “forefathers” were engaged in at the time.  Simple logic right?  His other “theory”, much like Anne Elke’s theory on Brontosauruses (credit: Monty Python’s Flying Circus and Graham Chapman), revolves around the premise  that the 27 points defined in the Declaration of Independence are actually all taken from sermons that took place between the years of 1756 up to 1776 and, therefore, make the separation between church and state impossible.  Barton is purely political, as he has stumped for “family values candidates” for years now, and so this one-two punch by the p.o.h.n., via their vocal chords over at FOX NEWS, is designed to influence voters through distortion and manipulation–if not flat out mind control.  The reasons again why the Franklin, Adams and Washington felt that there needed to be a clear division between the two concepts was to maintain purity, to keep them above the fray of the misguided ego trips mankind tends to go on, sometimes to the point of bringing down the entire nation.  If I didn’t know any better, I would say this looks like the beginning of a holy war.  This is not just an isolated tv show, this is happening at our military bases around the United States, where ministers are actually letting these crazy people distribute literature that confirms the “fact” that the forefathers wanted the “Christian” faith to co-govern, really to govern, the United States, leaving these naive men and women to begin “thinking” along the lines of the p.o.h.n., said Rodda, “it is pretty dangerous to our military who already believe this is a holy war.”  There is, I assure you, nothing HOLY about it.  Finally this morning, I would be remiss if I did not mention your pal, and mine (unless you are a minority, poor, Jewish, homosexual, disabled, or a liberal of any kind) drum roll, please, Sharron, “what have you done for the p.o.h.n. recently”, “Angle”, whose ironic name is only outmatched by her own paranoid, hypocritical, dangerous and out-of-date views on everything from “second amendment remedies” to abolishing social security and medicare.  Yesterday, in a radio interview, talking about bp, a caller phoned in and asked the seemingly set up question, “I wanted to know what she thought about the 20 billion dollar “slush fund” and whether or not “government” should be able to do that to a private company?”  “Angle”:  “Well, the short answer is no, government shouldn’t be doing that to a private company, and I think you named it clearly.  It’s a slush fund.  They’re actually using this crisis, if you will (I won’t), because they never waste one (talking point number 3301), Saul Alinski’s rule for radicals.  They are using this crisis now to get in ‘cap and trade’ (god forbid we save our planet from melting) and every fine and penalty and slush fund like you said…” (her words verbatim, does Beck University offer a course in English composition?)  Then, to get a real handle on this crazy lady’s moral compass, she was asked by another crack reporter “Alan Stock”, “what would you say then, to a young girl, when a young girl is raped by her father. let’s say, and she is pregnant, how do you explain this to her in terms of wanting her to go through the process of having a baby?”  “Angle”:  “I think that two wrongs don’t make a right.  And I have been in the situation of counseling girls, not 13, but 15, who have had very difficult at risk, difficult pregnancies, and my “counsel” was to look for some real alternatives, which they did, and they found that they had made what was really a lemon situation into lemonade.”  To quote Mr. Keith Olberman, “I can’t imagine many Nevadans, many Americans, many human beings as cold and callous as to agree with this sick, sick woman.”  I think that pretty much sums it up.  The “vision” offered up by the “stars” of the tea party, the p.o.h.n., celebrity CEO’s, the monsters of the airwaves (Beck, Limbaugh, FOX NEWS, etc.) all have on thing in common–they are all haters (to use a phrase from the younger generation).  People who hate usually hate themselves and in their delusional projections, blind themselves to all the beauty, love and joy the world and all of it’s people, not to mention the animal kingdom and nature preserved, have to offer.  It’s rather sad.  But, do not delude yourself to the dangers of believing in false prophets.  For no where in the Bible does Jesus say the words, “what you do unto the corporations, you do unto me…”  The last time I checked, the Christian faith, devoid of any political aspirations, still revolved around the teachings of Jesus, those few short years before he was killed by his own people, where he stated the words, “what you do to the least of me, you do unto ME.”  GOD’S SPEED to the GULF, all of the good people who live there, to all of the sea creatures, SEA TURTLES, DOLPHINS, WHALES, BROWN PELICANS and marsh lands therein…may a miracle happen soon! Have a nice week end folks!      Peace~M
