Chatham Fog

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket!  I pray that you had a nice week end, as the weather here on the Cape feels like it dropped 20 degrees…I actually had to put on a fleece–alert James, “mountain”, Inhofe and tell him that I, along with countless credible scientists, was wrong and that he was right–global warming is “the biggest hoax ever played on the ‘American people’.”  Ah, the party of no, strike that, the party of “hell no”.  Hell no! to clear cut scientific facts about what carbon emissions are doing to this planet as evidenced by the intense heat wave that is gripping not only the United States, but Moscow, where record breaking temperatures sent the capital of Russia into the 100’s once again yesterday, with no relief in sight.  Yes, that man, James, “she’ll be comin’ round the mountain when she comes,” Inhofe (R-OK) may, if the Republicans take back the Senate (GOD FORBID) in the fall, become the next Ken Salazar, Secretary of the Interior, where he can put his “theory” (much like the Monty Python skit, “Anne Elke”(John Clease), offered to the late great Graham Chapman on Brontosauruses, i.e., how they are very thin at one end, much, much thicker in the middle, and very, very thin again at the far end…) on how polar ice caps melting at an alarming speed is just another left wing hippy hoax played by former members of ACORN, the DNC and guests on “Countdown, with Keith Olberman.”  Add to that, the nightmare scenario of the p.o.h.n. (GOD FORBID) winning the House of Representatives as well, and then you will have Joe, “I’m sorry (bp)”, Barton (R-TX) who will take over a key committee position on energy…  Why not let ALL the wolves into the hen house?  Let us bring back “Dick” Cheney to run the cleanup effort in the Gulf, making sure that bp pays no one in the Gulf states who are now complaining that bp has not paid out any claims, even as we watch add after countless ad, on every network, claiming, in the same vein as Tony, “GONE SAILIN’ (permanently), Hayward, with his syrupy prose, that “bp” is doing everything in it’s power “to make this right”…right. Whether or not you believe in “global warming” is akin to you believing that “you” did not create “you”.  It is true, global warming that is, and even if you stick that giant head of yours in the sand Mr. Mountain Man, (for you are nothing more than the shill, we all know you are, for big oil, and the interests therein) it will not make the droughts, fires, warming temperatures, stronger storms and devastating floods any less REAL.  I look forward to your next syllable with great eagerness.  The biggest opportunity for ALL of US to have embraced in this devastating environmental disaster in the Gulf is still CLIMATE CHANGE and our lack of urgency in facing it directly.  The Chinese, Indians, Brazilians and most of Europe have adopted so many fossil free ideas that they will take advantage of the situation, creating millions upon millions of jobs, and leave us behind, as a third world nation, which is where the p.o.h.n. want us to be anyway, or more to the point, the corporate ‘robber barrons’ who pull their little strings on a daily basis.  We look at Ohio in a special that Anne Curry, of NBC, created last night, and the epic hunger that exists in the house leader’s John, “billy bob”, Boehner (R-OH), home state of Ohio.  These poor, good people are often too proud to get food from a food bank, that is quickly running out of food, for they have worked their whole lives and lived them honorably.  I find it ironic that the “leader” of the House minority has the guts to go on his little press tour and talk of anything other than how he will bring back jobs to that crippled state.  All he really cares about is maintaining the tax breaks, the BUSH tax breaks of 2001, 2003, for the wealthiest of us, adding another 350 billion to the deficit that he, and the rest of the clowns, seem so hell bent on “balancing”.  I suppose that buying some Frosted Mini-Wheats would break the budget though, right?  I can’t wait to hear what they have to say next on the matter of hunger that is quickly becoming a real issue in almost every state.  To quote Dean Wormer from the cult classic film “Animal House”, circa 1978, “there will be no fun of any kind.”  Except of course, if you consider marginalizing the already marginalized fun… GOD’S SPEED to the GULF, all the people, SEA TURTLES, DOLPHINS, WHALES, BROWN PELICANS and marsh lands therein…may your days of pain and suffering be over soon. Have a wonderful week folks!  Peace~M
