Charlie Brown Christmas
Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the great island of Nantucket! So good to be with you on this Monday morning, the thirteenth day of December, 2010, a bleak and chilly day here on the Cape, Osterville to be specific, a tiny, tiny little hamlet in the middle of Cape Cod proper, where the Osprey flies and the coyote rambles… I saw a coyote outside of my home here on Oak Ridge Road, just last night, and seeing his magnificence gave me spring hope eternal for a better world yet to come. The Sunday talk shows were, in a word, predictable, yet, as I watched CBS’s “Sunday Morning”, formerly hosted by the late, great Charles Kuralt, now, with the equal measure, the very good Charles Osgood, I witnessed the story of Dick Van Dyke, and his 85 years of giving BACK to society through LOVE, LIGHT and FROGS. In the piece, his story has never swayed from who he IS…and, that, being a man of LOVE and integrity that he only wishes to share with the world, a seemingly cold and desperate place filled with pain and misery. Yet, it does not have to be so. It can be filled with the light of another Charles, Mr. Charles Schultz, as embodied in my little, tiny, tiny Christmas tree I planted in my front lawn in HIS honor many moons ago. So, on this cold and wet Monday morning, I bid you the very best of feelings and blessings to capture the SPIRIT of the SEASON–be that Hanukkah, Christmas, Romadon, or whatever floats YOUR boat. Have a great day! PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M
