Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the hot, sunny, relatively speaking, and soon to be thunderous island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this Saturday morning, the 20th day of July, 2013, another scorcher out there, although we here on the Cape and Islands are not complaining, well, some people may be, about this oppressive heat wave that has gripped not only New England, where the temperatures in Boston have remained in the upper 90’s for the past seven, now eight days, but much of the country, from the wild fires in Palm Springs to the melting of the glaciers around the world… Of Course the weather is much worse inland and as I look to our leader and scientist/Senator from the great state of Oklahoma, Mr., give it up for, James Inhofe, a republican whose most famous line of his career as a politician was, “global warming is the greatest hoax ever to be played upon the people of the United States”, has got to be pleased with his meteorological theories–soon to be published by the Smithsonian Institute. Gotta love him! Tell that to the people who are living without air conditioning, mostly poor and elderly folks who have a tough time with this weather, not to mention the children. Of course, it is not the fault of the Senator, nor the republican party, in fact it is just a bloody shame they can’t get on board of what 99 percent of world renown scientists have confirmed– that this is all due to mankind’s continues spewing, like an open sewer, of carbon dioxide, i.e. green house gassed emitted from the burning of fossil fuels, into that said atmosphere, an atmosphere, by the way, WE all share, as will our kids and grand kids down the line. So, stay cool and help out those most affected by this most recent outbreak of heat that is off the charts–the young and the elderly–especially those without air conditioning, water or food for that matter… Turning back to what I spoke of, as well as our great President Barack Obama wonderfully turned his attention to on Friday–the Trayvon Martin case. The President spoke to the nation regarding this tragedy and travesty of JUSTICE and made it clear that 35 years ago, and I quote, “…that could have been me.” (regarding Trayvon, who was shot down in cold blood by a wanna be cop who used the “stand your ground law” as a vigilante racial move to kill another innocent CHILD). We need to take a hard look at race relations in this country and take it seriously, for I just watched the film “Lincoln” once again, having seen it in the theaters when it first came out. The very first part of that movie showed the bloody Civil War at it’s beginning and portrayed a young African-American soldier who was fighting on behalf of the Union Army. He spoke in earnest with the President, arguably the greatest President of our time, Abraham Lincoln in the year of 1863, yes he spoke of the Emancipation Proclamation and quoted it verbatim, essentially stating that this nation, “Of the people, by the PEOPLE and FOR the PEOPLE will not vanish from the face of the EARTH”. This sentiment remains in tact for ALL to witness, NOW and in the coming years. I pray this does not go unnoticed, as Vigils all around the country today mark the end of another kind of slavery, racial profiling. The great Reverend Al Sharpton puts together said Vigils for Trayvon and his family in over 100 cities across this great land of OURS, ALL of OURS! God Speed sir, whose show, “Politics Nation”, can be viewed every week day on MSNBC at 6 p.m. eastern standard. Have a great week end folks and may the Force be with you. The FORCE being the arc of good that always bends towards JUSTICE for ALL! PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M
