‘…a thousand points of light’

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 8:42 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the very foggy and sultry island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this Wednesday morning, the 12th day of November, 2014, and unlike the image of Hyannis Port water above, the weather is gloomy and muggy; a deep fog bank enveloping Nantucket Sound, along with the rest of that fabled island, as the “Polar Vortex” steadily creeps it’s way south, with much of the nation expecting temperatures by Friday being below the freezing mark for at least part of the day…

Not much to report ‘On the Western Front. Isn’t that right Vladimir?  May I call you Vlad?  I’m sure President Obama is looking forward to getting the hell out of China, as the meeting with the Premier of the People’s Republic of China, Li Keqiang did not go so good, with the tough guy leader (rooting out corruption big time, along with the rest of Chinese peoples basic human rights) of billions of very well disciplined Chinese, both in and out of Hong Kong, stating loud enough so that everybody could hear,  “…he very immature.”

A dig apparently quipped by the Premier in response to the constant ‘gum chewing’ (nicotine gum) at various state events attended by the U.S. President Barack Obama.  Who can blame him? Would you like to hang out with those two world leaders, leaders who are looking at the U.S. with deep, dark skepticism and little in the way of love?  And then get to ‘go home’ and have a Kentucky Bourbon with Mitch, ‘the mouse’, McConnell? I’ll take two packs of that Nicorette gum thank you very much Mr. 7/11 man, and a six pack too, I hate bourbon!

‘Qualifications?  Wait a moment, what have you got in your mouth?  ’nuff’m', “Nuff’m eh?, Lyle!”, (man searches the man’s mouth) GUM!’  …chewing gum in line eh?  Well, I hope you brought enough for everybody!” ‘I didn’t think there would be this many’, to wit “Hedley Lamar”, played by the late, great  Harvey Korman, in the classic 1974 Mel Brooks film, “Blazing Saddles”, shot the man, as ‘Jim’ (the Wako kid, starring the great Gene Wilder), who is hiding behind a rock says, “gosh he’s is strict.”

Anyway, I’m sure y’all want to get back to “Morning Joe” or “FOX & Friends”, where they will tell you all about the Republican plan to completely destroy the environment, create a stronger plutocratic class, and attempt to cut any and all social programs for those poor schmucks who happen to live in Rock Ridge, I mean Ferguson, Missouri, where apparently it is OK to gun down innocent black youths for target practice, or conversely, to get out ’some of your aggression’, some of your racial biases.

“I want you to round up every vicious criminal and gun slinger in the west.  Take this down.  I want rustlers, cut throats, murderers, bounty hunters, desperadoes, mugs, pugs, thugs, nit wits, halfwits, dimwits, vipers, snipers, con men, Indian agents, Mexican bandits, muggers, buggerers, bushwackers, hornswogglers, horse thieves, bull dykes, train robbers, bank robbers, ass kickers, shit kickers and Methodists!” (again, the great Harvey Korman playing well, take your plutocratic pick, say a Charles Koch? You be the judge in the classic film already mentioned!  Also starring, Cleavon Little, Madeline Kahn, Slim Pickens and so much more!).  So keep you eye on Rock Ridge, I mean Ferguson, Missouri folks!  YOU BETCHA!

It’s a lightening rod in 2014 America; a microcosm of how some communities deal with people in said community that don’t look like they do.

What are we in grade school?  Come on, this is not Rock Ridge and it is not the early part of the 19th Century.  We don’t need some hard line Governor going on TV right before a verdict that we all know is going to exonerate the cop who shot and killed an unarmed teenager, just to make sure we know how much you hate their guts sir!

Gotta love the stupidity; constant stupidity 24/7!

“..This isn’t Russia Danny, is this Russia?” (credit Chevy Chase in the equally classic film parody of 21st Century America, “Caddyshack”, also starring the late, greats, Ted Knight and Rodney Dangerfield, circa 1980).  The decade that began with former U.S. President Ronald Reagan’s ‘Morning in America’, and then “41″, former U.S. President George H.W. Bush, a good man, who famously spoke of those, ‘thousand points of light’, ah yes, I remember it well…

Have a nice day everybody and remember it is nice to be important, but it is more important to be nice.

Unless you are a writer–and then you can completely ignore that sentiment altogether.

PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M
