A thought…
Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the breezy, overcast and warm inviting island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this 31st day of August, 2013, a beautiful Saturday morning on Cape, Hyannis/Hyannis Port to be precise, as we all take in what transpired over the past few days in Washington D.C., of course commemorating the famous march on the National Mall in 1963 that sent shock waves across the bow of many whose lives were transformed forever by a great man who stood for nothing but LOVE and the dream therein. Of course that day has passed as many wind down their summer vacations and kids go back to school, but to quote the great Caroline Kennedy, now Ambassador to the country of Japan, a quote that IS an ancient Japanese proverb, “…although the waters may have flowed by, the river remains the same”–I am always humbled and honored that I have known these great people who think of others more than they do of themselves, a trait I believe all of US deep down aspire to. I think of that today because of what the world looked like fifty years ago, looking to that dream of MLK, and realizing that many of those dreams have come into fruition. Although we still have a long way to go, i.e. eliminating wars, hunger, disease, income disparities and racial injustice among others, I truly believe that this nation of immigrants can REAL EYES what is most at stake and fight to preserve what has already been written. So pray for the Middle East today, finding some common sense to Syrian aggression and the pain and suffering violence causes us all. For we are truly all one, on this little blue rock we call earth and home for the moment. After all, it is only the moment WE all have. The past being a cashed check and the future a promissory note. Bring the republican party back to it’s senses God, for it is truly NOT the republican party of my grandfathers–the party of Abraham Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt. God Bless you all on this Labor Day week end and please come on back to the Cape and aforementioned islands–we will, as always, LEAVE THE LIGHT on for ya! PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M
