A presidential day
Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the milky sun skied, cold, fabulous island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on a Monday afternoon–this Fifteenth Day of February, 2016, “President’s Day” here in the good ‘ole US of A–broadcasting LIVE from historic Hyannis Harbor, where history books at the high school all over the country state George Washington vacationed, as well as Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, bringing up Jack Kennedy and the Kennedy Compound on Marchet, (nuggets of truth thrown in for credibility). Yeah, all of these fine “books” go on to state these men and their families all summering at the comfortable Hyannis Harbor Hotel! Which was built during the reconstruction phase of the, what’s that? Wrap it up?
Sorry about that folks, just making up history as I go along, like much of the presidential lore that has been ‘told’ to US over the decades/centuries, via a pathetic public education system/mass corporate media propaganda machine and/or other ‘interested parties’. Lo, feeling all warm and cozy inside when reminiscing about all that has been seductively seeded into our minds, sweetened/seasoned through re-written historical fairy tales, proving that history is always written by the winners. Hmmmm. “The Right Stuff”, all designed to keep y’all in the dark, never having an opportunity to possess the vision of what’s to come… For one can only know where one is going when one knows, really knows, where one has been.
How many lessons are needed here?
One could say that the Executive has risen far above the humble glass ceiling established by George Washington and the rest of the brave crew back in the late 1770’s. One designed to keep this 233 year old Republic just that, a Republic. “This isn’t Russia Danny, is this Russia?” (credit Chevy Chase in the classic 1980 film “Caddyshack”).
