“…a moment with you.”
Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the big, blue skied, fair cloud laden, balmy (relatively), zephyr driven, Daffodil filled island of Nantucket! Great to be with you and yours on a glorious Friday morning, The Twenty-Seventh Day of April, 2018. Broadcasting LIVE here in historic Centerville, mid-Cape, just a football toss 27 nautical miles North/Northwest of that fabled island made world famous via ancient whaling boats of ‘yore, who sailed the Seven SEAS, creating wealth and fame beyond her wildest imagination…
AHOY!
That’s right folks, it’s “Daffy” time! Welcome to Nantucket’s 44th Annual “Daffodil Day Weekend”! Going off with a bang today with various flower shows and such, an island all decked out in yellow, the color of the season’s first line flower, the hearty, perennial Daffodil! Tomorrow, please join Chris Reiser and the gang over at fabled ACK.FM, motoring in style with a “True Compass”, made by Jeep--’DJ’s Drinking Coffee in Cars’ (with comedians?, gee, I hope so)–paaahked on mystical cobblestone streets made to stand the test of ‘time’, lo, happily awaiting your good words of encouragement, thanks and high salutations for a job very well done! Ever sailing souls on that hearty island and beyond (download the free ‘Ap’ today@ACK.FM.com; a true ‘feeling’ of “Being THERE!”), guiding one into the waves of U2, Dire Staits, Bowie, Segar, Lord Huron, Snow Patrol, Matchbox Twenty, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Johnny Cash, Frank Sinatra, Hootie and the Blowfish, Supertramp, Toto, The Rolling Stones, The Doobie Brothers, Nickleback, ABBA, Blondie, Stevie Nicks, CCR, REM, Led Zepplin’s Robert Plant, Elton John, perhaps some John Denver?
You get the idea…
Many stations have come and gone, but in the words of one genius lyric to one of the great tunes you will hear daily via Chris, Nancy, James, Jeff and all the others who make this station (“ACKFM”), so great–‘True island Radio”--is simply summed up in a song written by Vance Joy, entitled, “Saturday Sun”;
“…no ray of sunlight’s ever lost.”
Act NOW!
There’s still ‘time’ to catch a “Train(s), Plane(s) and Automobile(s)” (fancy Ocean Yacht, Lear, Hyline or Steamship Authority ferry), and enjoy tomorrow’s antique car parade; motors sporting over 300 vintage models, adorned naturally with a flood of yellow and gold Daffodils as they wind their way past throngs of people under the whale oil lights of yesteryear…
Not to mention the fabulously cool Nantucket ‘locals’ car parade on Sunday, the main event, where one could run into a ‘Stormtrooper’ or ‘Darth Vader’ himself, lazily putting along down India Street, up Federal, taking a sharp right on Main…
A Daffy moment with you!
PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M
