A Mighty Wind

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 9:53 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the great island of Nantucket!  Great to be with you on this Sunday morning, the twenty seventh day of February, 2011, and while I wait for the Sunday “talk” shows to begin presently, “This Week, with Christiane Amanpour”, “Meet the Press” and CBS’ “Sunday Morning”, arguably one of the best shows on television, representing the batting order, I thought I would offer a prayer, a song, a poem of sorts to you this morning, for, I’m sure you may agree, this world could sure use some LOVE. Have a wonderful day and please remember that you are as important as anyone else on planet earth… God bless us all.  enjoy….

A MIGHTY WIND

“As I travel down the backroads, of this home I love so much

with the carpenter and cowboy, and the layman with a crutch,

they’re all talkin’ about a feeling, about a taste that’s in the air

they’re all talkin’ ’bout this mighty wind, that’s blowin’ everywhere…

Oh, a mighty wind is blowin’, it’s kickin’ up the sand,

It’s blowin’ out a message to every woman, child and man.

Yes, a MIGHTY WIND is blowin’, across the land and ‘cross the sea,

it’s blowin’ peace and freedom, it’s blowin’ equality.

From the LIGHTHOUSE in Bar Harbor, to the bridge called Golden Gate,

from the trawler down in Shreveport, to the shore of one Great Lake.

there’s a star on the horizon, and it’s burning like a flame,

It’s lighting up that mighty wind, that’s blowin’ everywhere.

Oh, a mighty wind is blowin’, it’s kickin’ up the sand,

It’s blowin’ out a message to every woman, child and man!

Yes, a mighty wind’s a blowin’, across the land and ‘cross the sea,

it’s blowin’ peace and freedom

it blowin’ EQUALITY.

When the blind man sees the picture

when the deaf man hears the word

when the fisherman stops fishin’

when the hunter SPARES a bird,

we’ll still hear the wondrous story,

in a world where people CARE

this story of this MIGHTY WIND that’s blowin’ everywhere…

Oh, a mighty wind is blowin’,

It’s kickin’ up the sand

It’s blowin’ out a message to every woman, child and man,

Yes, a mighty wind is blowin’, ‘cross the land and ‘cross the sea…

It’s blowin’ peace and freedom, it’s blowin’ equality,’

It’s blowin’ PEACE and FREEDOM,

It’s blowin’ YOU and ME.

PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M
