A Fragile Bridge?
Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the rain soaked, raw, misty, foggy, cold, uncomfortable island of Nantucket! Great to be with you and yours on this ‘good day for ducks’, lo, this Third Day of May, 2016! A Tuesday, and like the old “Wimpy” character from “Popeye” fame was always fond of saying, “…I’ll gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today”, Oh yeah, it’s Tuesday! Do you take American Express?
Ironically, one of the wealthiest areas in the country, Osterville–a little sea side hamlet and home to this “writer” from ‘time to ‘time’ and now open for business on a little sand bar created 11,500 years ago by ‘The Last Great Ice Age’–has, as one of it’s many fine restaurants, “Wimpy’s”; serving up many of the residents living here winter, spring, summer and fall. Ironic because as the fable goes, “Wimpy” was a man who could not get enough hamburger, indeed some might say he was a gluttonous pig, with a voracious appetite and no care for his fellow human beings, yet, did not have the means to pay for his habit.
This Republic, her manipulated masses, moreover the ’shadowy figures, the men behind the curtain, controlling this “global economy”; the fabulous “New World Order” (not really all that “new”, but chalk full of “order” and “world”, has become Wimpy. The irony is not lost on the humorous shift.
Be careful of what bridge you find yourself on these days folks!
Have a great day!
PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M
