47 Percent…?
Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the incredibly beautiful, sunny seasonally cool island of Nantucket, sunny, as always, well sometimes, save for the occasional fog… Great to be back with you on this Thursday morning the 20th day of September, and my deepest apologies for being AWOL for this past week or so, as I was in the process of moving to a new home. Still here in Cotuit, ‘where the ocean meets the wood’, and as we all know, moving or change of any kind is, to use an old euphemism, a big pain in the butt. I fired Comcast and moved on to a better source, Verizon and although I normally don’t promote corporate entities, I must say, having DISH TV, satellite, is far better programming than ‘cable town’ (please credit 30 ROCK and Alec Baldwin, not to mention the great Tia Fey of SNL fame). It was nice being unplugged for a while I must admit though…no phone, no television, no internet, and I truly got the chance to be with nature as I watched the great Danny DeVito film, via Dr. Seuss’, “The Lorax”, keeper of the forest, and understood what it truly all means in the end, for OUR environment is the most pressing issue of the day and will be for many decades to come, as well as the 311 million Americans living under the umbrella of what our leaders from the past put forward as a blue print, or vision, for what this country truly stands for–namely a FAIR SHOT, or FAIR SHAKE for ALL, not just the chosen few who hide their vast amounts of cash in foreign lands, paying nothing in taxes while they use words to their own benefit, designed, of course, to pull the wool over unsuspecting minds that may not know any better. Take ‘ole Mitt Romney for example, as the great journalistic integrity of “Mother Jones” (please Google) exposed most recently, yes, I am sure you have heard of this, where the Mittster tells a group of wealthy plutocrats at a recent fund raising event (like they need any more money) what they wanted to hear, namely, that 47 percent of US don’t pay any federal income taxes. However, he fails to mention that FACT that they do pay taxes. They pay taxes when they buy food, they pay taxes on their payroll, taxes on a job that pays less than what Mitt spends on his pool chemicals to keep said pool shiny and clean. Poor Mitt, he is out of touch, and perhaps, out of his mind, for if he truly believes that this country is going to fall for his empty suit rhetoric. He is sadly mistaken. WE ALL KNOW THE TRUTH, at least in the elite media circles, and it WILL be exposed in the end. Take Elizabeth Warren for example, currently running for Teddy Kennedy’s Senate seat in this here great state of Massachusetts. She is a shining example of what is right with the trend “NOW” happening in the nation as this pivotal election comes closer to fruition on November 6th of this year. So remember to tune out FOX NOISE and keep in mind that people, true journalists, like Rachel Maddow, Lawrence O’Donnell, Ed Schultz, Reverend Al Sharpton, Alex Wagner, Chris Hayes and Melissa Harris-Perry, all of MSNBC fame, have your back, not to mention a man who is perhaps the greatest President since the days of Franklin Delano Roosevelt, and that man is Barack Obama.
