Cotuit Color

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 9:32 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the sunny, seasonable island of Nantucket! Great to be with you and yours on this Saturday morning, the twenty-sixth day of November, 2011, a stunningly beautiful one on Cape, Cotuit in particular, as the sun has made it’s triumphant return, after eating some Tums and left over turkey, along with some great coconut cream pie one of my neighbors kindly made for our Thanksgiving day feast on this little sand bar created by the Last Great Ice Age over 11,500 years ago…thank you creative intelligence! Not much going on today, ‘news’ wise that is, unless you consider ‘Black Friday’ ‘news’.  Apparently CNN, NBC, CBS, ABC, FOX, among others most certainly do, especially if it involves pepper spray, a Walmart and frantic shoppers who are herded, like so many cattle, into the giant corporate shopping centers to fight like dogs for scraps of meat that come in the form of an X Box, a waffle maker, or a 100 inch plasma television set, creating the illusion of an economy that has signs of life.  The reality, and irony, of course, is this ‘Black Friday’ symbolizes that great divide, the Grand Canyon, between the haves and the have nots, exposing it as a side show, as Chris Matthews, of “Hardball“, only on MSNBC, might say, a real rift, for most impossible to navigate across, a clear divide that it most certainly has become.  A canyon so obvious that the people who are participating in the circus cannot see, for many different reasons, offering up entertainment, while pushing those all important corporate ‘holiday’ numbers more in the black than in the red–ho, ho, ho!! Flash to a corporate board meeting only a few weeks ago…  “Anderson, I want those figures on ‘the Samsung’, damn South Koreans, and how many units we can give away in relation to how much coverage we are going to get on this one…?”, for we all know, they are not ‘giving’ away anything, save their hand, in this trick of the trade, the old ‘bait and switch’, offering only more evidence of that stranglehold large corporate interests have on the masses, which is much worse when it comes to the smoke and mirror show that congress has devolved into during this mad day and age, a rather dark and gloomy ‘time’ in our history as a country would you not agree?  No matter what ’side’ you may be on at present, armed with the ‘facts’ certain television stations will allow you to think about…consider this. If you want to make a difference today, and every day, buy local, support small businesses in your community, in fact, think globally and act locally.  That IS the only way the current ’system’ (that has hijacked the United States of America) will turn away from the Current(v) course it is on, via the slow drip of crony capitalism, beginning it’s march back to sanity and a fair shake for ALL. Have a nice day and keep on dodging those wooden nickles offered up by FOX & FRIENDS, they may look like cuddly ‘news’ correspondents, however, take heed, they are not cuddly, they are not safe, cute human like fox figurines, nor are they your ‘friends’, for would friends offer you a lie instead of the TRUTH?  Would a credible news organization effectively steal your wallet and then help you look for it?  Would a decent journalist tell you to drink that tainted tap water now poisoned by the KOCH BROTHERS and Halliburton, Inc.’s, 596 deadly chemicals used in the ‘fracking’ process of attaining ‘natural gas’, in 34 states now, all UNREGULATED, slated to happen soon to the Delaware River Basin, affecting over 18 million U.S. citizens drinking water, mostly in the New York City area? I did not think so. PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M
