Thank you!

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 11:31 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the water logged, yet drying out and still quite cool island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this THANKSGIVING DAY morning, a good one to you and yours, this 27th day of November, 2014.  A day set aside here in the United States to come together at the dinner table, wherever that may be, and give thanks for all that we collectively have in this rich nation.  A nation that has more than it can ever really spend if it really wanted to…

Like every other reporter out there I simply want to give thanks for just being here, really.  Albeit a simple ‘left’ wing, tree huggin’ “blogger” like myself.  I am also grateful for all of the journalists out there giving their all so we can wrap our collective heads around some of this pretty crazy stuff happening around this little blue rock we all call home for a while, while we all attempt to understand our world a little better, like the ‘kids’ on the “Cycle”–a fine show week days at three p.m. eastern, only on MSNBC. Or Chris Hayes of “All In” (8 p.m. eastern on that same fine station), Rachel Maddow of “TRMS” coming to you LIVE weeknights at 9, Lawrence O’Donnell of “The Last Word, with said Lawrence O’Donnell” (weeknights, MSNBC, at 10 p.m. eastern), or Alex Wagner of “NOW” coming to you from New York City at 4 p.m., “The ED SHOW”, nobody beats him at five weeknights, not to mention Joy Reid with “The Reid Report”, coming at you every week day at two, but wait!  There’s more!  Last but not least you have the old gun, the old man, the “Hardball” himself, Mr. Chris Mathews who hosts a show of that same description, LIVE every weeknight at seven p.m. eastern.  And as you ease on into the week ends, you can’t miss a beat tuning into part time game show host and full time anchor of “UP, with Steve Kornacki”, Saturdays and Sundays, eight to ten a.m., followed by the great professor at Tulane part time, but full time on MSNBC, “MHP”, Melissa Harris Perry, who will not pull any punches when it comes to digging for the TRUTH, all while putting a smile on your face.  Any one of these news shows will bring one closer to what is really going on, so educate yourself on political policies and vote!

Therefore, as a completely non-paid Ad, I am grateful to these professionals.  Most especially to those bringing the LIGHT, like Reverend Al Sharpton does on fine show at six p.m. eastern (MSNBC) “Politics Nation”; exposing our shortcomings as a people when it comes to fairness, freedom and equality. Exposing  the way we are ALL treated in this big picture ’scheme’ of cosmic Justice, love, forgiveness and Peace.

I suppose for anyone interested in finding solutions to the epic problems of mankind’s 21st Century world, you could do a whole lot worse while searching for said information than the makers and shakers at MSNBC, who bring a full perspective on what is shaping OUR world and who will lead it in the future.  Thank you all for your heads up reporting this year, you know who you are! May you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving and Holiday Season…

As Sir John Guilgud stated many moons ago in the great film “Arthur”, also starring the late, great Dudley Moore, circa 1981, (a line analogous to writing sometimes),“…bathing is a lonely business”… “Except for fish”, “…Did you say except for fish?” … “Yes, fish tend to bath together, although they do tend to eat one another. I should think they must get awfully tired of seafood. What are your thoughts on this Hobsen?”.

Have a great Thanksgiving week end everybody and be safe out there ‘amongst the English!

Listing Starboard!

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 8:04 pm

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the densely fog shrouded island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this Tuesday morning, the 25th day of November, 2014, a grey day here at the Hyannis/Hyannis Port Waterfront; although very busy, as the Cape and Islands, as well as the rest of the nation, readies itself for “Thanksgiving” coming up in only a couple of hours…

People of Ferguson, Missouri will not be giving much thanks to the JUSTICE system here in the U.S. however, especially after St. Louis County prosecuting attorney Robert McCullough handed down the ‘verdict’ last night around eight p.m. central ‘time’.  A decision about whether or not to charge Officer Darren Wilson (Ferguson Police Department) with the crime of murder, or second degree murder, or voluntary manslaughter, or involuntary manslaughter, or nothing at all.

The whole world watched this decision by a St. Louis Grand Jury of 12 regarding the officer’s brutal killing of Michael Brown, an unarmed teenager with his hands in the air, the international signal of surrender, on August 9th of this year, sending chills up the spine of anyone who has a heart in this country, none so much as the oppressed citizens of Ferguson, who were understandably outwardly ANGRY regarding this rather contrived piece of judicial ‘prudence’ in 21st Century America.

Last night “Bob” gave a 20-30 minute speech about how everyone, including 7 eyewitnesses who were apparently ‘wrong’ in what they actually witnessed, seeing the whole thing go down with their own two eyes, should just ‘take their word for it’ and be good boys and girls and simply go about their collective business, for ‘there is nothing to see here folks’. Yes sir, “Bob” gave the world quite a performance, there is no doubt in my mind he may be up for an Oscar come March (fingers crossed!).  How no one noticed his nose growing as he spoke is still a mystery though.

“…no probable cause exists to indict Officer Wilson”.

No probable cause because you made that so.  You sir, no one else.  Let’s take a good look at this man, Bob McCullough for a moment shall we?  First off, he is a St. Louis County prosecuting attorney.  Second, he is the chief law enforcement official for the county.  Three, he has been in office since 1991.  Fourth, his father, mother, brother, uncle and cousin worked for the St. Louis Police Department.  Six, father was killed in the line of duty.  Seven, this is the man who was in charge of ‘instructing’ the 12 man grand jury by giving them all of the evidence in the case (highly unusual), without giving any real unbiased direction.  With many law scholars crying foul when the Governor of Missouri, Mr. Nixon, fell asleep at the wheel after the shooting, a window when he should have appointed a special prosecutor instead of McCullough, as he was too close to the police culture to really possess that unbiased point of view.

John Gaskin III, a community activist in the St. Louis area, put it best in an interview with Chris Hayes of “All In” (weeknights, eight sharp, only on MSNBC, great coverage by the way!), when he said last night, “…if Bob doesn’t want an indictment, there won’t be an indictment, plain and simple.” Going on to lament, “…my confidence in the Justice system is at an all time low tonight.” A sentiment echoed loudly by protestors around the country as this ‘verdict’ has become ground zero for racial tension in America today.  With the many police forces around the country acting like an occupying army, outfitted with machine guns and tanks; as opposed to the humble and intended job description of a neighborhood police officer whose duties are simply–

to ‘Protect and Serve’.

WE, as a people, are a FORCE–the mightiest. England learned that lesson 238 years ago.  Tyranny of any kind is wrong.  It was wrong in 1776 and it is wrong in 2014.  When an officer of the law is afforded the luxury of taking a young man’s life with no penalty or explanation other than “Bob’s”, there must be a response.  Albeit a peaceful one, it must also have teeth.  For that is what these people–real live human beings, with emotions and fears, love and life just like you Darren Wilson–have been fighting tooth and nail against.  TYRANNY.

Most young black men in the United States feel as though they are targets of police aggression and suppression.  Whether or not this is accurate, which it is, is irrelevant.  The problem is systemic and must be addressed as such if anything is to be done to correct the ship’s course.  Correcting it before it hits an iceberg it can’t recover from.  Namely, having a police force that is representative and caring of and about the people and community is serves. Not an enemy of it.

Without hope, most youth are lost in a system that cares nothing about them.  Thrown back out into a cold, hard world that offers no opportunity or guidance, little to no love while simultaneously trying to kick out any legs of the stool they may be standing on, desperately holding on to try and get a better life for themselves and their families.  Income inequality, lack of proper education and nutrition, coupled with police tactics that are not helpful to the peace of mind a community needs to thrive all spell another Michael Brown victim in the future.  With again, no responsibility for actions taken therein by the police force of fill in the blank community USA.  As this nation slips further and further into the racial divides we experienced in the 1960’s, with civil rights and voting rights being at the epicenter of this thing WE all call JUSTICE.

The ARC of the moral universe is a long one, but in the end always bending towards that sweet JUSTICE!

Have a nice day!

All Aboard?

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 10:25 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the wet, windy and wild island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this soggy, blustery, and rather mild day here at the Hyannis/Hyannis Port Waterfront.  A quiet Monday morning to be sure, this 24th day of November, 2014, as many of us fortunate enough to have a home will sit down soon and figure out what’s for dinner on Thursday ’round 4 p.m. in whatever ‘time’ zone you may happen to be living at presently…

Of course, that quiet reflection is not going ‘down’ in Ferguson, Missouri right about now.  With hundred of TV news vans descending upon the normally quiet suburb of St. Louis, awaiting a verdict in the shooting of an unarmed teenager back in August.  Quite?  At least until Officer Darrell Wilson emptied his clip into an unarmed teenager with his hands in the air, begging, “…please don’t shoot!”, leaving his body on the ground for over four hours, while horrified members of the community, CITIZENS of this country, gathered around comparing notes, with seven, count them SEVEN, witnesses coming forward stating that they witnessed what looked to be a cold blooded crime by an officer of the PEACE.  A person put in his position, paid for by the tax payer, to PROTECT and SERVE, not to ‘get some aggressions out’ on some poor, underprivileged African-American boy.

The Grand Jury has been convening for quite some time since that August incident, deliberating on the evidence (all of it, with no direction; the biased prosecution explaining nothing, but hinting with a wink and a nudge that this will be like 99.9 percent of the other fatal police shootings, i.e. no charges filed), with the whole world watching in earnest.

Many protests have been set up along this Arc of the Moral Universe, ‘which is long, but bends towards Justice’, with demonstrations planned in over 80 cities if the verdict goes the way most pundits think it will, resulting in an acquittal that will create a fire storm BECAUSE the mostly peaceful protestors will be met with an army of aggression via a heavily armed police presence, armed to the gills with all kinds of goodies they got from the “Patriot Act”, ‘keeping the peace’ by launching tear gas canisters and dangerous grenades that hold rubber bullets and some kind of chemical that stings the eyes beyond the point of pain, leaving many innocents reeling in the streets as the media ‘no fly zone’ is put in place by the Governor who has already called for a state of emergency so they can tell TV anchors Chris Hayes and Rachel Maddow of MSNBC–

“…’there’s nothing to see here folks, the town’s (park) is closed.  The moose outside should have told ya!” (credit the classic film “Vacation”, starring Chevy Chase and the late, great John Candy playing the security guard at the fictional “Wally World”, circa 1983).

The real reason, besides the crime itself, why people in Ferguson and many other communities just like it, are so angry is due to the FACT that most black males in this country are treated as though they are already guilty of some crime.  They feel useless and unwanted.  They feel as though they have no future and are left mostly to fend for themselves, by themselves, hoping to find a path forward with little or no help from a community that is so far divided racially and economically–they see no way out.

Many do turn to crime and drugs, having no choice really as many feel that gangs and the drug selling life is the only ‘way out’.  That is the great blight of our society, our failure to nurture, educate and love our own citizens.  The vast majority are good souls just trying to find a foot hold in a country that is mostly disposable these days, mirroring what they already feel about themselves, thus creating a self fulfilling  prophesy of the vicious cycle of income inequality; GREED being the main culprit eating away at our society at large.  That, and the school to prison pipeline as the for profit prisons make a mockery out of what we once called the ‘greatest nation on earth’.

To keep that title, you have to earn it with DEEDS. Altruistic Actions–acts of random kindness once exemplified by ‘The Greatest Generation’ (WWII vintage), a phrase coined by NBC former anchor Tom Brokaw, who will be receiving the highest civilian honor today from the President of the United States, Barack Obama–the Presidential Medal of Freedom. A beautiful tradition started by OUR 35th President of the United States of America–the beloved and ever people focused--President Jack Kennedy. His own brother’s (Bobby Kennedy) wife, Ethel Kennedy, honored today as well…

Who can say that those harassed youth in Ferguson can make a claim on that word?

Have a nice week a head folks, praying ever for peace not only in Ferguson, Missouri but all around the world.  And a special hope that the towns near Buffalo, New York, digging out from over seven feet of snow, can handle the epic melt down happening right now, as the temperatures outside our studios here at Sea Cape Cod keep rising, now around 65 degrees Fahrenheit, same as it is in upstate New York.  Everyone asking the same question as the rains fall down like gang busters,

‘where is all of that water going to go?’…

Frozen traditions

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 10:11 pm

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the once again sunny, breezy, frigid island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this Friday morning, the 21st day of November, 2014, with the cold and sun expected to stick around this little sand bar created 11,500 years ago by The Last Great Ice Age for the remainder of the week end…

How about that President Barack Obama? I was going to turn on “Morning Joe”, only on MSNBC, before sending this insignificant ‘message in a bottle’ out to the world, but I thought better of it, instead choosing meditation and pleasant sounds of birds waking and enjoying the golden silence that I sometimes forget still actually exists if you seek it.  Tuning out a seemingly darkened world that is in constant conflict, never ending conflict.

Even when someone simply wants to do something GOOD, such as keeping families from being torn apart because some real ‘king’ (money) objects to the notion.  The President being right about the entire issue of immigration in the United States in this 21st century America.  The Republican party is right about nothing these days, but their brainwashing machine(s)–FOX “News”, Rush Limbaugh/right wing nut hate radio in general, hell all the haters on the pay roll out there in Hate-ville!– will continue being busy at work telling the “American People” that President Barack Obama is acting like an Emperor or KING and therefore, must be punished.  Somehow thinking, in their warped minds, that they can hurt him any more than they already have.

The heart beat of the American people–if furnished with real facts, you know the real insight (follow the money $!), into what is going down in these here United States of America–would throw those bums out on the streets just as look at them.  But they don’t.  Why?  Because of so many factors it would be hard to list them all here right now, save one–‘traditions’.

Traditions, like families, are hard to break, for those bonds are steeped in loyalties, blood thick, and do not respond well to reason, logic, love or science these days.  So, people like Republican Senators’ Ted Cruz and Mitch McConnell know–via the plutocratic Washington D.C. think tanks that tell them what to do, say and think on a daily basis–that if they follow a scientific script, saying all of the right things at the right time, probability and outcome will rule the day.  Not the heart and minds of all of ‘the American people’, worry not my dear friend of history, for there is always the underhanded and quite evil ways of the Machiavellian methods applied daily by this ‘not your grandfather’s GOP’, methods and polices that will continue unabated until somebody pulls the sheets down and exposes this whole bloody affair, namely the upcoming attempted coup of OUR democracy, the one we fought WWII for, the one with that little letter ‘d’.

Plutocratic rule has NO place in a healthy, FUNCTIONING democracy and never will.

Have a great week end folks, even though NFL ‘traditions’ in Buffalo are frozen this weekend!

‘…It’s still a beautiful world, strive to be happy!’

7 feet!

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 9:10 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the sunny, cool, delightful island of Nantucket! Great to be with you once again on this Thursday morning, the twentieth day of November, 2014.  Slip off the bonds of the treadmill for a moment and perhaps take in a good movie, a real made for TV cliff hanger that will take your mind off of what is going down tonight around 8 p.m. eastern ‘time’–namely the “Empirical Emperors’ Prerogative”, or U.S. President Barack Obama “lawlessness”; a good man who will use his (deferred action deployed by seven other U.S. presidents) Executive Authority to ‘defer action’ (deportation), towards 5 million illegal ‘aliens’ living under the shadows here in this very wealthy nation of immigrants; not amnesty, sound economics rather, with the granting of temporary work permits, thereby creating what will eventually be hailed as a truly humanitarian move that will keep families together and strengthen communities nationwide.  Embracing sociological, demographic and cultural changes that will happen regardless of how many wish it were not so.  Oh, those are the same thing, never mind…

“Deferred Executive Action” regarding inhumane deportations and temporary work permits has been ordered by “Emperors” before… (U.S. Presidents’ using this action 11 times, going back to President Dwight D. Eisenhower). But hey, facts are facts and if you say this guy is a King– then so be it!

How this will all play out is anybody’s guess, but the good money is on a strong and stupid response from the likes of the brilliant Speaker of the House, Mr. John, “I don’t play with matches”, Boehner, who will do just that as his caucus decides whether or not they should a) shut the government down b) impeach the president c) throw a temper tantrum d) have another press conference regarding the danger of using matches without adult supervision e) take a another long vacation before the Christmas break f) repeal “Obamacare” root and branch while waiting on the response to the immigration outrage g) sue the president again h) meditate on it with Deepack Chopra and Oprah streaming in to your electronic device all month long! i) ask Bill Maher to address the issue of Emperor Obama’s outrageous behavior on his show Friday night, LIVE at ten p.m. eastern, only on HBO (not a paid AD!)–“REAL TIME, with Bill Maher” j) actually stop acting like insane puppets and do your job!  Namely truly act on behalf of those AMERICAN PEOPLE you keep jaw boning about!

If you are going to deny climate change Republicans, the least you can do is let the people who mow your lawn enjoy their time on this earth with the people they love, i.e. their children, wives, mothers, as they move out of the shadows and into everyday life here in the good ‘ole US of A!  Just as your grand-pappy did Mr. “Factor”, the one the only Bill O’Reilly of FOX ‘news’ fame, if that is your real name…

We have a file on you Irish, I should know, I’m Irish as well.  You know why God invented Whiskey don’t you Bill?  So that the IRISH wouldn’t rule the world!

Hope all is well in Buffalo and may the force be with you! Seven feet of snow is not unusual, is it Bill?

Have a nice day everybody!

Hallelujah 2.0!

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 8:33 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the ice cold, blustery, sun drenched island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this Wednesday morning, the 19th day of November, 2014; absolutely freezing down on the Hyannis/Hyannis Port Waterfront at this very early morning hour, while this little sand bar along with the majority of the U.S. is feeling an arctic surge that has not felt this cold since 1976.  All experiencing the ghostly chill of ancient Arctic ice sheets, coupled with  wicked winds born out of eons old glaciers gone by, as that mighty ice slowly melts into oblivion…

But not today!  That bloody Keystone XL Pipeline (that would, if all that dirty tar sands oil was unearthed up in Alberta, Canada, according to 97 percent of climatologist worldwide, ’spell lights out for the environment…’), was shot down yesterday afternoon by the U.S. Senate, in a 59-41 vote, with that body needing a 60 vote filibuster proof majority, which they don’t have, thus, the bill will NOT be going to President Barack Obama’s desk, at least not today…

Hallelujah brother Rosebud!

It was a breath of fresh air, no pun intended, for this nation’s environmental crew.  A rag tag group of ‘nobody’s’ who eat, according to the brilliant Joe Scarborough, pontificating again on his “Morning Joe”, lots of Cheetos snack food ‘items’, “…slacking off and bad mouthing your government I’ll bet!”, (credit the film, circa 1982, “An Officer and a Gentleman”).

This group of concerned U.S. citizens regarding oil and gas companies hijacking our democracy with a little letter ‘d’, all in the interest of their PROFIT and the PROFIT of their shareholders.  Caring NOTHING about the common American.  Jobs?  To use your words, are you kidding me John Boehner? ’stupid is as stupid does’ Mr. Speaker!

This concern for our land, air and water is not only growing in size and scope, it will eventually be the topic of the day, the ‘new normal’ as the pundits like to say, and the talk of this GOP taking over such a great country as this, or rather the plutocrats taking it over, will be long in the rear view mirror.  For it will be OUR kids and grand kids who take us out of the canyon of fear based politics and those children are FAR more important than the horrible dark monies that have pulled the wool over so many of our citizens eyes, blinding them to the truisms staring them directly in the face, yet not having the voice or passion to do anything about it–YET!

Of course, some of those voices have been cut short with the criminal use of excessive force wielded by ‘men of authority’, thus must rely on the VAST majority to speak on their behalf.  I pray that Ferguson, Missouri, today and every day, may find the peace it is looking for.  Whatever the verdict in this horrible crime against and unarmed man turns out to be. People must know that violence is never the answer and that the majority of police officers are good people, many times put into bad situations, such as an angry crowd demanding JUSTICE when it looks like that is not going to happen.  At least not in St. Louis County anytime soon.  Hopefully, Ferguson and other police departments can learn from this incident and make more of an effort to be a part of the community, not apart from it.

However, the core of what is really wrong must be addressed before any of this can happen, i.e. income inequality, lack of opportunity for young black males, etc., and thus, WE, as a nation, if we want to still be a nation, must come to terms with the FACT we are all in this together.  WE all breathe the same air, drink the same water and eat the same food, and ultimately were created, according to that document, what is it?  The Declaration of Independence? Yes indeed, we were ALL created equal.  Perhaps, just perhaps, we may just grab a hold of that concept someday and SEA where it takes US!

Have a nice one!

‘Comfortably Numb’

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 11:39 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the cloudy, clammy, windy island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this Tuesday morning, the 18th day of November, 2014, a quiet morning after a ferocious line of thunder, lightening, heavy rains and wind hit the area from about the dinner hour until late in the night, exposing US all once again to the reality of who is REALLY in charge–Mother Nature…!

Of course that won’t bother this co-opted GOP none, no sir! Their short sighted agenda mirrors day traders on Wall Street or a crack head on the streets of Denver.  Both looking for a quick ‘high’, regardless of the consequences, or the means, finding that ‘at the end of the day’, that the very temporary high of killing ‘the American people’s’ dreams for your master’s PROFIT proved to be futile and hollow indeed.  A fact that will come home to roost someday, for this ‘not your grandfather’s GOP’–whose brand has been soiled by the likes of an opportunist such as Senator Ted Cruz of Texas or his side kick Mike Lee of Utah, both hell bent on shutting down the government because “Obamacare” (the Affordable Care Act passed into LAW in 2010), is not only meeting expectations (with over 10.1 million covered in one year alone, with open enrollment going swimmingly, with over a million linking on with no problem during open enrollment going on right now until December 15th!)), but exceeding them, and would do that much better if all states adopted the concept of insurance exchanges and allowed for the free FED monies to pour into the thirty odd states denying the Medicaid expansion, allowing millions more to gain coverage just like every other sophisticated, progressive, modernized country around the world–is clearly not on the side of a real democracy that serves all of her people, not just a chosen few…  handed down with Justice and mercy, fairness and civility.

Enlightened, cosmic, sacred virtues that WE should ALL want to embrace, cherish and preserve…

Universal Cosmic Justice Michael Brown of Ferguson, Missouri will never get to experience.

But this fight is about far more than the ACA, it is a fight about the concept of a real democracy itself, you know, the one with that little letter ‘d’. It seems the poison contained in the 596 deadly chemicals (secret from the public and the EPA), used in the fracking process (for attaining methane)–making some plutocrats richer than their own fear based God, while it has harmed every day Americans in the process as they try and BUY our democracy out from underneath our feet–has been piped into the drinking water (figuratively speaking of course), of Congress for good, with GOP leaders claiming it is ‘he’, President Obama, who is ‘poisoning the well’ with his executive order to help 5 million undocumented human beings living in this country ‘illegally’ to breathe a little easier by allowing them to remain here so their kids don’t grow up orphans.

Doesn’t sound like a tyrannical dictator to me, does it to you Joe?

The “Executive” action on immigration status (really not ’status’ at all, merely a temporary deferred ‘action’ or`deportation`, while still allowing those immigrants to work, the seeds coming in the 1970’s with the great Beatle’s singer/song writer John Lennon’s immigration lawyer Leon Wildes bringing this deferred action to unwittingly to over 5 million people almost 50 years later)–a humanitarian move made by President’s Ronald Reagan in 1986, then tweaked by ‘the Gipper’ himself in 1987 and then again by his protege George H.W. Bush in 1990; helping out our historically ever present and ever shifting ‘immigrant population’ by treating it with compassion, respect and dare I say LOVE, you know, like real, live human beings–is not new.  But because this Kenyan socialist is making it, interfering with the fake grass root tea party (plutocratic) take over, the “…tea party tail wagging the (GOP) dog(credit the great David Corn of Mother Jones Magazine), will continue to snarl and bite, growl and attack at any moment…tearing at the flesh of a now stable U.S. economy (thanks to President Barack Obama!), by threatening another government shutdown, stating that giving “Obama” money, keeping the lights on, will somehow be what?  Some kind of blood money for amnesty or some other voodoo nonsense like ISIL for Ebola? Give it up for this 21st Century GOP, folks, they truly have brought back the word “nonsense” and raised it to a whole new level!

Well done sir!

The only thing worse than a Republican policy these days is…

I don’t know what.   Is this a trick question?

This party stands for nothing, wishes to build nothing and promotes in nothingness, save the Almighty DOLLAR and the people at the ‘top of the food chain’ who have the most of said ‘dollars’, dollars they think make them rich. Bowing down to ‘corporations’ who are now “people too”, according to vulture capitalist and GOP operative Mitt Romney and the like…but people only when it serves it’s ends.

If a person destroyed an entire ecosystem the size of the Gulf of Mexico there would be hell to pay, especially if he were a black guy, right Mr. Wilson?  I’m sorry, your not a scientist are you?  But if a corporation does something like that, there is a small fine applied to said corporation.  Such as ‘property taxes’ on a Monopoly game board; a small pittance paid out in a much larger game that has absolutely NOTHING to do with ‘The American People’.  A people whom the corporate owned media and Madison Avenue wizards have drugged to the point where the vast majority are either completely brainwashed or truly “Comfortably Numb”… (credit the Rock band “Pink Floyd”, a song taken from the track “Dark Side of the Moon”).

Have a nice day!

“hold the reason!”

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 10:32 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the warm and water logged island of Nantucket! Thanks for tuning into Sea Cape Cod on this 17th day of November, 2014, another wet one here at the Hyannis/Hyannis Port Waterfront, as temperatures are expected to plummet over the next 24 hours, leaving this little sand bar frozen again, just like it was 11,500 years ago by the “Last Great Ice Age…”.

This should be an interesting week, with U.S. President, Barack Obama, returning last night from a fruitful swing across the great East–achieving historic agreements on the reduction of greenhouse emissions by both the U.S. and China, the world’s two largest emitters of the carbon dioxide, methane and other gasses that trap the sun’s heat in our atmosphere, heating it, thus melting the ice, oh hell, if you don’t get it by now…

I suppose this whole ‘climate hoax’ is good for Ostriches who live in a land locked state of denial, such as in the great state of Oklahoma.

Say it with me Senator (and newly elected Chairman of the U.S. Senate’s ‘Environment and Public Works Committee’, yikes!) Jim, “…’cause dag nabbit, God is still ‘up’ there!”, Inhofe–of that said grand state where many still believe the earth is flat, Jesus likes Wonder Bread and that the Earth was created 6,000 years ago with humans and dinosaurs playing, what softball together?  … apparently a time well before (math never being one of Inhofe’s strong points) this so called “Last Great Ice Age” you filthy, hippy, liberal, tree huggin’, left wing-nut bloggers out there keep talking about; with all of your over the top satirical views regarding this puppet like, God fearing ‘not your grandpa’s GOP, no sir!–that’s right say it with me Inhofe, you hate them rivers, them lakes, them estuaries, them reservoirs, you hate ‘em all!

That being water and them environmentalists who wish to save those bodies from your ever present representations of GREED! It is a bloody shame what you and your Republican friends plan to do with what is left of not only the natural bodies of water we can all see, moreover, the ground water that is being played with via this insane Keystone XL Pipeline that will make a boat load of money (estimates of upwards of 100 billion!) for the Koch Brothers’ (huge stake in a company located not in the U.S., but in Alberta, Canada), but will do nothing for this nations’ “energy independence”, or “lowering gas prices”, I mean really, what the hell are you talking about here?

We all live (you don’t live in a bubble sir!) in a GLOBAL economy now, and you know just as well as I do that ALL of this dirty, toxic, highly carbon intensive crude tar sands oil–running rough shod right up the middle with a bloody pipeline right across the VITAL Ogallala Aquifer (Nebraska mostly impacted, hence the law suit pending in that great state)–will be sold to the highest bidder.  A means of transport of said dirty oil just so another GLOBAL plutocrat can ‘make a buck’ and ‘create’ perhaps 40 full time jobs, several thousand during a two year period while the ‘dang fence, I mean pipeline is being built.  Why are oil and gas jobs so sacred?  What’s wrong with Solar jobs?  Are they less American Senator?  Do they pay like we pay women in this country, 77 cents on the dollar?  Senator?  And what about that danger to our soon to be incrediblby important water sources?  What happens when creating a dangerous pipeline that could leak, and will eventually?  What happens if it gushes out onto said Aquifer?  Oh, your ‘donor’ doesn’t care, as he eats out?

Do we look that stupid Senator?

Your big SCAM will be revealed for what it truly IS; even though you have duped most of ‘the American People’ into thinking, ‘…hey, yeah, that Keystone pipeline, yeah, that sounds like a great idea man, you say it will create 42,000 jobs and lower gas prices?  Hell yeah!  USA! USA! USA!”.

Of course it does none of that Tony and the only person(s) besides Charles Koch and his brother David (and whoever they may throw a ‘bone’ to), who will benefit from this insane move to create a pipeline across our precious water supply, are the titans of big oil.  An industry that cares nothing for the people it f’s over, just ask the good people of the Gulf coast and their relationship with bp, an oil company that has DESTROYED The Gulf of Mexico!

For it will be water that wars are fought over in the future America, WATER.  A vital resource of LIFE and a supply that is dwindling by the day (see ground water problems in the Middle East, California, etc., on the Google!), as those WATERS will be, in a very short amount of ‘time’ much more important than OIL ever was.

Water will be worth more than GOLD soon.  For one cannot drink oil, can they Senator?  But don’t you worry your ignorant self about nuff’m, ’cause who gives a damn about future generations anyway!  This ‘not your grandpa’s GOP‘ sure as $hit don’t.

Have a great week ahead folks and steer clear of the dreaded wooden nickles emanating from ‘the FOX hole’ of knowledge.  Well, knowledge in this context being of an oxymoron value now–FOX “NEWS”.  One must also realize that spending any ‘time’ in said black hole of knowledge will most certainly leave one with a sense of bewilderment, frustration, anger, rage, fear and the occasional terror.  “Pass the Ebola Frank!” All for the price of a cable TV subscription of what, $200 bucks a month?  What a deal!  Where do you sign me up?  Comcast and Verizon–don’t you go changing just to please me! A sentiment I suspect some of your customers who have a cable bill these days may be thinking as well, saying out loud to themselves (as the cable giants quietly attempt to quash Net Neutrality so they can finish the job of brainwashing/controlling America), “…“Gravity” again?!! I hated that movie the first time!  George Clooney should have paid us all to watch that piece of crap!”.

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the cold, sun drenched island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on the 16th day of November, 2014, a crisp one out on the Hyannis/Hyannis Port Waterfront; calm though as you can clearly make out from the image taken of said Hyannis Harbor only moments ago.  Even though the calendar says “Thanksgiving” and “Christmas” (along with all of the other holy holiday celebrations celebrated by the many equally good religious dogmas out there–by gosh by golly!), keep in mind that the good folks on Nantucket, Hyannis, Osterville, Centerville, Chatham, Truro, Provincetown, Yarmouth, Dennis, Yarmouthport, Barnstable, Cotuit, Mashpee, MV, Falmouth (all eight townships therein), will put on what we here on this little sand bar created 11,500 years ago by the Last Great Ice Age, call “A Christmas Stroll”.  And like the ‘Who’s’ of “Whoville”, thanks Dr. Seuss!, we don’t care about the Grinch stealing the spirit of the lights, laughs and love surrounding this sacred annual event. For it represents the Love of community mostly, highlighting our shops and our lives, but mostly just how much we depend upon each other. The true meaning of this coming holiday season in my humble opinion. So take heart America and come on down to Cape Cod and the Islands for a good old fashioned Christmas Stroll, if not this year, then pencil it in for Christmas Future!  Like the 21st Century GOP policies lined up for America’s future (if they didn’t have a road block called President Barack Obama), you will feel like you are back not in the 19th Century, no sir, rather back in the days of ‘yore, rubbing elbows with none other than Paul Revere himself…who famously (according to historian and FOX ‘news’ contributor extraordinaire, Sarah, “I kill innocent wolves from the safety of a helicopter!”, Palin), rode crazily through the streets of Boston, “…shooting off ‘dem warning shots’ to ‘warn the British that the Americans were, you know, gonna be comin’ soon, er, line?, umm, yeah, he was ridin’ his horse all through town, lightin’ them gas lamps and all by golly, all while he was doin’ ‘dat, he was um, er…, what’s ‘dat?  You want me to wrap it up?  Gladly…”. Have a nice day everybody, hopefully turning off your ’screen’ and feeling the freedom of a good swim in the Atlantic in November or, conversely, simply walking out        the door, go out onto 5th Avenue and get a Starbucks coffee, or something like that…

D.C.’s Fear and Loathing…

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 10:43 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the very wet and wild island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this soggy Friday morning here on little old Cape Cod.  It is the fourteenth day of November, the year, 2014, a year that many in the world will never forget…

For it seems this is the year of the (fingers crossed!) plutocratic takeover of the United States of America, via the newly elected puppets in Washington D.C., as we gear up for a showdown between the very fine 44th President of the United States, Barack Obama, and the ever growing power of this rather transparent fake grass roots ‘tea party’ (praying on the ignorant U.S. electorate who vote down Republican party lines; mostly to their own detriment, as this 2014 GOP does not have the common, everyday ‘Joe six pack’s’ best interests’ in mind, via their many outlandish proposed POLICIES written by and large via A.L.E.C. (American Legislative Exchange Council), The Heritage Foundation and other republican think tanks in the D.C. area), policies that favor their bosses, the top .001 percent.  Politicians who will most likely attempt to impeach the leader for using his Executive Authority (his RIGHT) to tackle the very real and human problem of over 5 million undocumented immigrants in this country (a country of immigrants), bringing them out of the shadows to have a shot at this mostly elusive (again, because of GOP policies now and in the future),

“American Dream”…

The now seemingly all red House of Representatives will be voting on the Keystone XL Pipeline today, with the Senate expected to possibly vote on and pass it as well, many Democrats trading madness for reason in the process, and thus, Obama may be put in yet another “hostage” situation, as the GOP employes ‘the Stockholm Syndrome’ once again (a phenomenon whereby the captors, i.e the ‘American people‘, feel sorry for their captors, e.g. ‘the good people at the ‘oil and natural gas companies’, in the attempt to jam bills through Congress that are clearly not good for the VAST majority of her people…

Bills such as the cataclysmic folly of this horrible pipeline through the middle of OUR nation–across the vital Ogallala Aquifer–claiming it will ‘ween us off foreign oil’ and make us ‘more secure as a nation’ (that old bit), claiming it will ‘create’ tens of thousands of jobs (estimates say a few thousand for 2 years while the ‘dang thing is being built and then 40 full time jobs, tops), while it locks this country into a dirty, oily future ripe with many inevitable leaks, spills or outright gushers, making a few very, very rich, while doing absolutely nothing for the country’s people as a whole, as it puts (along with the other oil, gas and coal companies reserves) 5 times more carbon dioxide/methane into the atmosphere than the atmosphere can handle, hence the statement made by 97 percent of climate scientists in the world today (the other 3 percent are bought by Koch Industries and the like), “…if the Keystone XL Pipeline is built, it will spell lights out for the environment.”.

Of course, 97 percent of real men of science could be wrong, but are you willing to take that chance, moreover, take the word of some bloody politician who is in the back pocket of the Koch Brothers?

These ‘men’ who claim to represent the people of this country are full of hor$e$hit.  I wish the media would just come out and say so.  But they won’t.  Nor will they tell you any more than they, the corporate titans who bring you Brian Williams, Scott Pelley and now David Muir of NBC, CBS and ABC respectively, want you to know. ‘The less you know’ is our bread and butter baby!  Giving perhaps ten seconds of air time to the story of what will, and already IS, happening to the environment as a whole.

But far more importantly WHY it is happening.  Not the science, we know that, the question is who is making it happen and why are they doing it?  That never makes it to Brian’s desk.

The sad truth is that most of US will wake up only when it is too late to do anything about it, although I hope I am wrong about that one.  The news media has a sacred OATH to tell the TRUTH (the very definition of journalism, with many doing an OUTSTANDING JOB, i.e. some programming on MSNBCyou know who you are!) and in my mind that sacred truth has been hidden, bought and sold like so many cattle.  The days of the great Walter Cronkite of the old “CBS Evening News” are over in the main stream media and if you hipsters out there think you are above it all, watching the ‘news’ on your I-phones or tablets, always in sixth gear, you may want to reconsider.  The content provided to you is mostly well choreographed and sanitized for your protection is it not?  Sure, there are lots of buzzes and bells; sex, hot colors and loud noises, the many outrages and Hollywood gossip until you just can’t take any more.  But real news that has any of the right stuff; stories that will effect you and yours in the years to come, such as GLOBAL WARMING and who is mostly responsible for said warming?  That you have to look for.

“Seek and ye shall find!”

Most Knowledge is like that though–and the wealthy know it.

POWER consolidated at the top of the food chain never leads to joy.  At least not to the subjects under it’s spell.  I hope that President Barack Obama keeps pushing these next two years, with his legacy reflecting that ‘at the end of the day’…

Fighting these idiots who say you are ‘poisoning the well’ if you act alone, f them!  They poisoned the well the moment Obama was elected.  In 2010 Republican Kentucky Senator Mitch McConnell actually stating that the GOP’s number one goal is to make Obama a one term president; obstruct him at every turn, thus making him look weak and ineffectual…and it almost worked.  Now he just doesn’t give a damn about your attitude or your warped agenda.  This is not a black or white thing, this is a right and WRONG thing.

What is right for the majority of the American people vs. What is right for the plutocratic class.

We shall SEA! Have a nice week end folks and beware of those wooden nickles thrown about by FOX ‘news’ Sunday.  Side effects still include, but are not limited to, severe abdominal pain, delusions of grandeur, hallucinations, fever, nausea, and the rare projective vomiting that could be linked to, but not yet confirmed, the dreaded virus Ebola!

Take care!

“Take me to your leader!”

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 2:19 pm

Greetings (earthlings!) and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the super sunny and still mild, calm island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this spectacular Thursday morning, the 13th day of November, 2014, another gorgeous one out there, take your pick of positive adjectives, and I can attest to the fact because this reporter just returned from the marsh you SEA below, a marsh that is worth saving for sure…

Two rather earth shattering events happened yesterday, the first being the amazing lunar landing like feat of putting a small probe on an asteroid traveling at about 88,000 miles per hour, the equivalence of striking a golf ball and hitting the moon, times the power of ?

The European Space Agency’s Rosetta Space Probe on Wednesday successfully deployed its robotic lander Philae on the comet ‘67 P’ Churyumov-Gerasmenko after a 4 billion mile journey that began in 2004.  Landing on what is essentially a giant ball of dust and ice, compiled with the stuff of our physical universe, called by many`star dust. When the earth was created, roughly 4.6 billion years ago (or less than 6000 years if you are a creationist; ‘time’/reality continuum really not mattering anyway), it was rocked by millions of asteroids that carried what most scientists believe to be the water in our vast oceans, covering 70 percent of the earth’s surface today.  The world will most likely know more about this thing we call the human race and the origin of this planet and the universe at large because of the WILL and genius of these brave men of science–who are truly ‘going further than man ever dared to go before’!

Thank you James, may I call you James?  No, Captain Kirk is preferred?  So be it.  However, Beam me up Scotty! After this next story, it appears that there really is no intelligent life down here anymore on planet earth!  Save our pals aforementioned, have them beamed up as well!

Case in point, this beautiful ‘agreement’ between China and the United States yesterday (in China), brokered by the Premier of the People’s Republic of China, Li Keqiang and the President of the United States, Barack Obama. Sitting down and discussing what WILL be the hot topic for the rest of this century and beyond–the ever warming CLIMATE (and the devastating consequences of inaction) –with the U.S. committing (assuming the reasoned U.S. Congress will abide) to cut it’s green house gas emissions by a third by the year 2025, as China caps it’s emissions by the year 2030.  China stating they need a little more time to ‘play catch up’, which is fair if you think about it, as the U.S. accumulated most of it’s wealth during the Industrial Revolution to wit China and other countries are just emerging, but still wanting to change quickly to a more green future, due to huge air pollution problems in say, Beijing for example.

All well and good if this country was not about to be led by a bunch of insane climate deniers such as our good buddy from the great state of Oklahoma; give it up for the willful ignorance and blind loyalty to big oil and gas Mr. James, ‘climate change is the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on ‘the American People’, Inhofe, a real honest to God U.S. Senator (and a maniac pilot!), who has been put in charge–via the equally moronic new U.S. Senate majority ‘leader’, ha!, Mitch, “the mouse”, McConnell (R-KY)–of the Senate’s ever more important position of Chairperson of the ‘Environment and Public Works Committee’, where I assume he will just continue sticking his head in the sand like an Ostrich and tell the poor people who listen to his lies and blatant manipulation, “…oh, that couch?  I don’t have the slightest clue why your coach is floating down the street, where is your mommy? No, I don’t think all those recent earthquakes in Oklahoma (and recently in Kansas!), have anything to do with all of that wonderfully profitable–a real blessing–fracking going on all across this great land of ours…oh, and don’t believe any of those filthy, liberal, tree huggin’ scum bags either, they will tell you that global warming is real, but they are just jealous of the successes of the oil companies, like the one your daddy works for, yep, and all this talk about man drowning the polar bears is just nonsense, don’t you worry your pretty little head about anything my dear…”.

Have a nice day folks and may we all just sit back and ponder the FACT we could land a fridge on a rock hurtling through space, yet we can’t ask our ‘gods‘– the oil, gas and coal industries– to just ‘give it a rest’ on the fossil fuels for a while.  Investing in renewable energy before it’s too late for future generations?   What is wrong with giving it a shot? Because, ‘at the end of the day’, WE, as a collective human race, assuming we want to live, are going to have to tackle this problem.

There is only one planet earth…last time I checked.

‘…a thousand points of light’

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 8:42 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the very foggy and sultry island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this Wednesday morning, the 12th day of November, 2014, and unlike the image of Hyannis Port water above, the weather is gloomy and muggy; a deep fog bank enveloping Nantucket Sound, along with the rest of that fabled island, as the “Polar Vortex” steadily creeps it’s way south, with much of the nation expecting temperatures by Friday being below the freezing mark for at least part of the day…

Not much to report ‘On the Western Front. Isn’t that right Vladimir?  May I call you Vlad?  I’m sure President Obama is looking forward to getting the hell out of China, as the meeting with the Premier of the People’s Republic of China, Li Keqiang did not go so good, with the tough guy leader (rooting out corruption big time, along with the rest of Chinese peoples basic human rights) of billions of very well disciplined Chinese, both in and out of Hong Kong, stating loud enough so that everybody could hear,  “…he very immature.”

A dig apparently quipped by the Premier in response to the constant ‘gum chewing’ (nicotine gum) at various state events attended by the U.S. President Barack Obama.  Who can blame him? Would you like to hang out with those two world leaders, leaders who are looking at the U.S. with deep, dark skepticism and little in the way of love?  And then get to ‘go home’ and have a Kentucky Bourbon with Mitch, ‘the mouse’, McConnell? I’ll take two packs of that Nicorette gum thank you very much Mr. 7/11 man, and a six pack too, I hate bourbon!

‘Qualifications?  Wait a moment, what have you got in your mouth?  ’nuff’m', “Nuff’m eh?, Lyle!”, (man searches the man’s mouth) GUM!’  …chewing gum in line eh?  Well, I hope you brought enough for everybody!” ‘I didn’t think there would be this many’, to wit “Hedley Lamar”, played by the late, great  Harvey Korman, in the classic 1974 Mel Brooks film, “Blazing Saddles”, shot the man, as ‘Jim’ (the Wako kid, starring the great Gene Wilder), who is hiding behind a rock says, “gosh he’s is strict.”

Anyway, I’m sure y’all want to get back to “Morning Joe” or “FOX & Friends”, where they will tell you all about the Republican plan to completely destroy the environment, create a stronger plutocratic class, and attempt to cut any and all social programs for those poor schmucks who happen to live in Rock Ridge, I mean Ferguson, Missouri, where apparently it is OK to gun down innocent black youths for target practice, or conversely, to get out ’some of your aggression’, some of your racial biases.

“I want you to round up every vicious criminal and gun slinger in the west.  Take this down.  I want rustlers, cut throats, murderers, bounty hunters, desperadoes, mugs, pugs, thugs, nit wits, halfwits, dimwits, vipers, snipers, con men, Indian agents, Mexican bandits, muggers, buggerers, bushwackers, hornswogglers, horse thieves, bull dykes, train robbers, bank robbers, ass kickers, shit kickers and Methodists!” (again, the great Harvey Korman playing well, take your plutocratic pick, say a Charles Koch? You be the judge in the classic film already mentioned!  Also starring, Cleavon Little, Madeline Kahn, Slim Pickens and so much more!).  So keep you eye on Rock Ridge, I mean Ferguson, Missouri folks!  YOU BETCHA!

It’s a lightening rod in 2014 America; a microcosm of how some communities deal with people in said community that don’t look like they do.

What are we in grade school?  Come on, this is not Rock Ridge and it is not the early part of the 19th Century.  We don’t need some hard line Governor going on TV right before a verdict that we all know is going to exonerate the cop who shot and killed an unarmed teenager, just to make sure we know how much you hate their guts sir!

Gotta love the stupidity; constant stupidity 24/7!

“..This isn’t Russia Danny, is this Russia?” (credit Chevy Chase in the equally classic film parody of 21st Century America, “Caddyshack”, also starring the late, greats, Ted Knight and Rodney Dangerfield, circa 1980).  The decade that began with former U.S. President Ronald Reagan’s ‘Morning in America’, and then “41″, former U.S. President George H.W. Bush, a good man, who famously spoke of those, ‘thousand points of light’, ah yes, I remember it well…

Have a nice day everybody and remember it is nice to be important, but it is more important to be nice.

Unless you are a writer–and then you can completely ignore that sentiment altogether.

We salute you!

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 8:00 pm

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the once again sunny, cool and delightful island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this Tuesday morning, the 11th day of November, 2014–a spectacular day on the Hyannis/Hyannis Port Waterfront–as the nation celebrates the service and sacrifices of OUR American veterans, alive and dead…

This nation’s wars have mostly been fought in the interest of preserving OUR democracy, a sacred public TRUST that no one should be able to tamper with.  And as the never ending war footing seems like it is ‘back on track’ in Iraq, ‘fightin’ ‘em over there so we don’t have to fight them here’, a sentiment that is all well and good by most in Washington D.C., perhaps we should pause and check just to make sure we are not going down another rabbit hole.  Wondering aloud if our 2014 military vision lacks the fundamental insight of former U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower, and his remarks to ‘the American People in 1960–

“…we must safeguard our selves against the military industrial complex.”

For now that the U.S. Congress intends to spend the rest of it’s days left in office this year threatening the president over any ‘executive action’ regarding our badly broken immigration policies, and then, when it comes back as the ‘new’ and more vicious 114th Congress, setting it’s sights on the man himself–the very fine 44th U.S. President Barack Obama–attempting to impeach him while they force his hand in signing a deal with the devil, namely the passage of the Keystone XL pipeline, yes, indeed, now that WE all have that to look forward to…

A move that WILL push the climate over the edge via digging up more than five times the carbon, hence  emissions, the earth can handle, effectively raising the earth’s average temperature by more than the 2 degree Celsius threshold EVERY country, including this one, agreed would be the MOST this planet could handle.

Just so we are clear, if the all of the Alberta tar sands are unleashed into the atmosphere, and if all the other oil and gas companies, as well as the coal companies, use their ’stockpiles’, rather ‘weapons of mass destruction’–they will be releasing five times more carbon than the earth can literally breathe in.  Just the carbon released today–into an already damaged and at capacity atmosphere screaming ‘no mas’, ‘no mas’–the parts per million (scientific stuff, you know, the way them ’scientists’ count carbon dioxide in the air; see…) level has now hit 400 and it is only trending higher by the second, a number representing and correlating with that 2 degree Celsius ceiling (red line), so if the carbon levels are parallel with the temperature levels, well…

The last time Carbon dioxide levels were this high range from 800,000 years ago to 15 billion, therefore, there were no humans.  The hundred plus years of the fallout from the Industrial Revolution is already causing mass migrations, deep droughts, rising seas, stronger storms and higher temperatures, yet the mantra on the idiot sixth grade level intelligence on the right keeps screaming, “…drill baby, drill!”.

I don’t know what else to tell you.

Save this… The earth’s atmosphere just cannot handle what the oil and gas industry wish to dig up, e.g. Tar Sands in Alberta, Canada (Keystone XL pipeline though American heartland; for PROFIT only), and if anyone tells you any different is either willfully ignorant, stupid, masochistic or simply brainwashed, oh, or just don’t give a $hit about the natural world and the natural order of things.  These polluting giants cannot continue polluting at WILL without some kind of REASON applied and a real dialogue with the rest of HUMANITY!

You and I can’t just throw litter in the street, empty our garbage can out into the roadways and expect to get away with it!  Why should the big oil and gas conglomerates?  Further, why are WE, the American tax payer, SUBSIDIZING these guys?  Doesn’t that tell you something?  It spells doom for democracy and doom for the environment if WE don’t wake up and smell the roses soon.

Our brave men and women in uniform deserve our respect, gratitude and Love on this day and so be it.  I just hope the wars they fight in the future are not all about a sticky black substance, rather a vigilance and fight against tyranny of any kind, both foreign and domestic–ever protecting the ideal and reality of a true democracy that serves ALL of her people, not just ‘the chosen few…’

Forest for the trees…

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 8:23 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the starry, cool and soon to be sunny island of Nantucket! Great to be with you early on this Monday morning, the 10th day of November, 2014, with the Cape and Islands expecting a spectacular day.  A great day for boating, kayaking, biking, walking, swimming, bird watching, sail boarding, or strolling on the hundreds of incredible beaches you will have all to yourself today, taking in all of the beauty that is this little sand bar created 11,000 years ago by ‘The Last Great Ice Age’ has to offer.  A hike at “Eagle Pond” in Cotuit?  Perhaps planning your getaway to this amazing natural wonder before the new chairman of the U.S. Senate’s ‘Environment and Public Works’, Senator James, “Global Warming is the greatest hoax ever played on the American people”, Inhofe takes over the reigns in January.  Taking control of an office that is supposed to “manage and preserve?” our very fragile environment.  An environment that is on the chopping blocks now, one that is bought and sold like so many cattle–exploited daily by the big oil and gas corporate mandates to ‘drill baby, drill!–frack, frack, fracking beautiful!  What is that velvet?—with no cares for the FUTURE of our planet’s natural resources, as they attempt to destroy every living thing on planet earth if it gets in the way of their ever growing PROFITS!

It is hard to fathom this blow to OUR beautiful land, air and SEA; our tributaries, streams and lakes.  Putting that clown in charge of anything is an affront to common sense, however with this newly elected group of “Republicans” anything is possible–save sanity, LOVE and compassion.

The table has been set for impeachment of our very fine 44th U.S. President Barack Obama–who has done an outstanding job considering the circumstances real history books will prove.  Impeached for you know,  using his ‘executive authority’ (once raising the minimum wage for Federal contract workers) and the ‘veto’ pen (twice in six years) too much I suppose, neither of which of true.  But when did the truth or FACTS ever get in a Republican politician’s (plutocratic operative’s) way?

The sad truth for the environment will be playing out soon with the possible passing of the Keystone XL pipeline.  A move of epic FOLLY that WILL spell “lights out for the environment” (according to ALL credible climate scientists out there worth their salt–97 %), if all of that dirty, filthy, highly toxic and carbon intensive tar sands oil is sent through a pipeline right down the middle of this country, a b-line through the nation’s most vital aquifer, the Ogallala.  That oil will not be ’saved’ for ‘national consumption’, rather will be, per the ‘invisible hand of the free market’, purchased by the highest bidder.

The people who will benefit the most from digging up five times more carbon than the earth can handle, all for THEIR own personal PROFIT, are very few and very far between. You know them as the Koch Brothers– who will stand to gain 100 billion more dollars to add to the 41 billion they each have in their bank accounts as we speak.

Let it be known that if approved, this pipeline will lead to a future locked into an old, dirty system of energy that has seen it’s day.  We were once a nation that lead when it came to the ‘forests and the streams’, as even a former U.S. President, Richard M. Nixon, a Republican, got in on the act, passing the ‘Clean Water Act’ and ‘Clean Air Act’ into law in the early 1970’s.  Something that would never happen today, as this nation has been hijacked by big oil and big gas; big chemical and big agriculture manipulators (GMO’s), so much so that (thanks to the folly of the 2010 SCOTUS’ “Citizens United” decision and little public will to change the status quo in Washington D.C.), it will be a miracle if the other 60 percent of our wildlife (the other 40 percent have vanished; become extinct in the past half century due to mankind’s lack of vision, unable to ’see the forest for the trees), make it to the end of the century.

What are people like the KOCH BROTHERS thinking?  Are they that sadistic?

How much money is enough?

WE have a whole lot more POWER than they do, collectively, and if we don’t wake up soon to these very clear, very simple scientific FACTS regarding a cataclysm on the horizon, one that has not been seen by mankind, EVER, well, just keep on diggin’ that dirty tar sands boys, ’cause apparently the folks in Washington, and all of the pundits out there talking about 2016 already, are truly missing the point, they cannot SEA that forest for the trees in the slightest…

Have a great  week ahead everybody and take a walk, feed a bird or pet a cat.  You will be amazed at the result!

Beyond the ‘Wall’

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 9:40 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the once again mild, overcast island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this early Sunday morning, the 9th day of November, 2014, with the Cape being as quiet as a church mouse in this lull after a momentous election and before the busy holiday season…

A good time to reflect on what happened this past week, or not. Quite frankly, it has all been said ad nauseum, and on this 25th anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall’ all separating ‘East’ from ‘West’ (like ‘red’ and ‘blue’ in the U.S., post 2014), Berlin youth sending up thousands of balloons to mark the occasion only nine minutes ago, I wonder if anyone really listened or cares at all now, I mean, where the hell is the LOVE? All happening as Mikael Gorbachev, the famous former Soviet Union President, warns of another Cold War in the future, stating that the west claimed ‘victory’ with a little too loud of a voice, perhaps explaining some of Vladamir Putin’s recent movements in Crimea and the Ukraine…

But what does that have to do with the ‘wall’ between the haves and have nots?  The ever growing chasm, a GRAND CANYON.  A great difference between the people now ‘in power’ representing the .001 percent really in POWER and those who do not have a pot to piss in, the vast majority of ‘the American people’…

Funny man, humanitarian and all round good guy, TV talk show host Bill Maher had–on his venerated show “REAL TIME, with Bill Maher”, only on HBO (Fridays at 10 p.m. sharp, eastern; 7 p.m. pacific)–a good example of what I speak of here–a nice, average person who lived ‘Hand to Mouth’ by working three jobs and still not making ends meet’ but can now because she wrote a dynamite book about the whole bloody experience!  This is not the exception to the rule, rather the other way around in these days of Ayn Rand’s whip ‘em but good! 21st Century GOP austerity, bringing back the days of ‘yore where only those with land voted and women were second class citizens deserving less pay for equal work than her male counterpart, preferably barefoot, pregnant and in the kitchen…

In 1960, when the Berlin Wall was erected, it served as the ultimate symbol of the Cold War, and as that war waned, the wall was torn torn in 1990 with little pieces of it spread throughout the world (as was brilliantly pointed out by Google today, just ‘Google’ it if you don’t believe me Mr. Speaker!), to perhaps REMIND us of what we are talking about here–no more walls between peoples, less hate and more LOVE, hello, McFly? Is this thing on?

The walls have gone up, not down.  Look around you folks, the walls of Wall Street are deep and they are VAST.  They stretch from lower downtown Manhattan and extend outward from sea to shining sea.  America’s new slum lords, with those big banks we bailed out owning much of the real estate that was bought and sold like so much cattle in the most recent ‘meltdown’ of those ‘too big to fail banks’ , banks, along with the oil and gas industry, that ARE the government now, as the Chief Justice John, “we’re not an activist court”, Roberts Supreme Court (as his nose literally grows a few inches as we speak) eyes another prize, “Obamacare”, perhaps erecting yet another wall for over 5 million Americans who just got health insurance, calling the subsidies ‘unconstitutional’ because of a typo.

The walls erected to block opportunity for our young African-American communities, such as Ferguson, Missouri, MUST be addressed, lest we become like the nations we have been fighting for it seems an eternity, Iraq?, no, ‘them Middle Eastern ‘extremists’.

Why do you think these countries have youth that become radical extremists?  Besides the folly of the Iraq war for starters.  It’s Because those young people lack opportunity, loving guidance and HOPE.

We, the United States of America, are better than that as a country and it is high time we bolster our education systems and EMBRACE our youth, ALL of them.   And not just lip service that WE can ALL see right through…

“Fool me once, shame on me, fool me twice, er, um… you just can’t get fooled again.” (credit the classic comedic stylings of our 43rd President of the United States, Mr. George W. Bush!). No sir, we do not need talk that carries NO street cred, ultimately bringing the nation BACK from the brink of the destruction of a hard fought for 238 year old democracy with that little letter ‘d’.

Beyond the wall (door), “…there’s peace I’m sure…”. (credit; guitarist/song writer Eric Clapton)

Have a nice Sunday folks and please enjoy your day!

p.s., Where was Berlin?  ‘Was that Russia Danny? No?  It was in Germany, that’s right, I remember now….

Oyster Harbor

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 7:48 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the foggy and almost balmy island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this early Friday morning, the 7th day of November, 2014, another overcast day on Cape, rather mild for this time of year. But alas, fear not, the ‘polar express’ is back in town, gearing up to bring misery to the Midwestern U.S. this week end, with a monster storm in the Bering Sea, bringing 50 foots waves and 180 mile per hour winds…

Of course, that won’t bother the incoming moron-in-chief in charge of how the U.S. handles this upcoming cataclysm known ’round these here parts as GLOBAL WARMING! Yep!  We got us one maniac pilot (we did not forget your embarrassing escapades up in the air Senator–remember that near death experience with the ground crew at that Oklahoma airport a few years back?  Remember Senator, when you almost purposely–it seemed to everyone watching on the ground–flew into a grouping of workers who were ‘in your way’ as you attempted to land?  Good times…), named Senator James Inhofe (R-OK) who is going to be–thanks to the lack of turn out, bad messaging, a lack of unity and mad money coming in from the dark corners of the universe thanks to Citizens United, yes and all of those horrible Madison Avenue level 10 brainwashing Ads that kept bombing the insurgents, I mean ‘the American People’, 24/7–in charge (soon to be the Chair of the Senate Environment and Public works committee!) of telling said insurgents, again, my apologies, what I meant to say all along are those wonderful and adorable sheep, I mean, “American people” what is going on with the environment, you know, the one he feels that “God” has a good beat on.  Because, and I quote the crazy pilot of his own warped mind, “…he’s still up there”.

Just like you and your crazy flying machine!

Yep, that’s what is coming ’round the mountain folks, James, “she’ll be coming round the MOUNTAIN“, Inhofe, the man I have been writing about for years!  What a gift.  Not only have the big polluters won the day with this Republican “100 year mandate” (according to one loose lipped ship who will be reprimanded for letting the world KNOW what they, the puppet brigade, are really thinking and attempting to DO), yes, not only have these ‘men behind the curtain’ won the United States Congress back, lock, stock and barrel, but they have the luxury now of destroying what is left of the EPA and thus, our environment, via this insanity of appointing a man who does not believe in the concept of the green house and how that science stuff works.  This living monument to the word “folly” will ‘in charge’ of anything and everything when it comes to what is left of our country’s natural wonder.  Hiring a hit man to run over the EPA with a tar sands dump truck!

This is the man who famously said, “…the biggest hoax ever played on the American people is this concept of Global Warming and that it is caused by human activity”. Although he did say it simpler.  This is a man who has written a BOOK on the subject!

“…Hello, McFly, hello, is this thing on?  Think McFly, think!” (credit the classic 1985 film, “Back to the Future”, starring Michael J. Fox).

There will be more on this later in the broadcast, however, on this still early Friday, I think I have said enough.  The reality of the fox and the hen house is something that will not be brought up on the upcoming insightful and damn depressing Sunday talk shows (I hope that smug Peggy Noonan is on ABC’s ‘This Week’, fingers crossed!).  I just wish baseball expert George Will was still on as well, the two of you knuckleheads together on the same show, forget about it!  The bat$hit crazy FOX “news” channel is lucky to have him, he is a national treasure!

Have a great week end everybody and please enjoy the natural world around you, with James Inhofe in ‘charge’, who knows how long it will be here!

Hold on to your hat…

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 9:54 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the mild and misty island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this Thursday morning, the sixth day of November, 2014.  A wet one here at the Hyannis/Hyannis Port Waterfront, with much colder temperatures expected a little later on, towards the week end.

Just so WE are clear, the giant ‘wave’ of Republicans taking over the U.S. Senate in 2015, coupled with an even stronger House, can go one of two directions, as this brand is at the crossroads of it’s existence as a viable and relative party in a real democracy.  If we are talking about something else here, please disregard all of the forthcoming information completely.

The new presumed majority leader of that 114th U.S. Senate will be Mitch McConnell, who won going away in the great state of Kentucky, giving a conciliatory victory speech, hinting that there may be room to work with President Barack Obama. Perhaps getting something done for a change, starting with the minimum wage, road/bridge projects, bolstering the EPA and the like.

But with venomous angst a reality in this ‘not your grandfather’s GOP’, i.e. the insane rantings of Republican Senator Ted Cruz of Texas, that is not likely to happen.  No sir, the writing on the wall is pretty clear and this brand is not going to take any prisoners, including the environment.  Former RNC chair Michael Steele put it well the other day when he said, “…yeah, if the president goes ahead and passed the Keystone pipeline, creating jobs (ultimately perhaps 40 at best), while he lowers the corporate tax rate (1 out of every 4 U.S. corporations do not pay ANY taxes at all), yeah, that could go a long way in creating a working environment…”, right Michael–approving the Keystone XL pipeline will only serve to enrich the KOCH BROTHERS (by 100 billion some estimates say).  It will NOT make this country ‘energy independent’, for you know as well as I do that all of that nasty, dirty tar sands oil will simply pass through our vital aquifers in South Dakota and Nebraska, inevitably leaking or disastrously gushing out due to whatever could happen out there, and after it makes it all the way to the Gulf, it will be refined or remain unrefined sludge that will be shipped out and sold to the highest bidder in the global oil trade–let’s pass a bill that will seal the fate of the earth’s future, making it a bleak one…

Why not call it what it really will be in a few months–as you contemplate impeaching the great man while simultaneously sneaking the pipeline approval under the radar as an addendum to some other bill the President must sign, such as raising the debt ceiling–EXTORTION!

This great 44th U.S. President, Barack Obama, who has done an outstanding job as Commander-in-Chief despite what critics may say–future real history books proving otherwise–has put up with this kind of crap since day one.  And now Senator Mitch McConnell, who famously once said the day after Obama was inaugurated as President in January of 2009, “…our number one goal as a party is to make sure Obama is a one term president”, wants us to believe that “The Heritage Foundation” and their creators are going to ‘work’ with this man?  When they could take this country by storm, drag it into a bathtub and drown it like their tax henchman Grover Norquist parroted so many moons ago.

No, this is the big chance for the plutocrats to get what they want, namely an end to any regulations at all.  No more EPA! No more IRS! No more Department of Education! No more food stamps, no more affordable care, ‘no more fun of any kind!’ (credit the fine words of ‘Dean Wormer’ of ‘Faber College’ via the classic 1978 film “Animal House”, starring the late, great John Belushi)

I hope I am wrong.  However, if you take a look at what is really going on under the surface, peeling back the onion, pull back the curtain, take your metaphorical pick, look hard enough and you will see the TRUTH. And I have to ask the simple question–‘for what?’.

Do they really want a nation that looks and acts like Russia does today?  Are we really going to let all of those who sacrificed, OUR greatest generation who fought Nazi atrocities (genocide and tyranny) in WWII, yes, are we going to allow those deaths to be in vain?  They fought for what our founding father’s fought for, democracy with that little letter ‘d’. And until someone puts a new shingle on the White House that reads “…the White House, brought to you by Koch Industries“, I, and others like me, will continue to speak out for those who do not have a voice.  As the voter suppression and Madison Avenue wizards–along with gerrymandered districts and all of the dark money in the world (thanks to the folly of the 2010 “Citizens United” decision via Chief Justice John Robert’s rather activist U.S. Supreme Court)–turn away would be voters while brainwashing them on ‘TV’ to vote against their own best interests, it is not a surprise to SEA where the country could be headed–right off a cliff!

This country–now run by people who believe that ‘life’ begins at conception yet adopt a ‘rugged individualism’ philosophy when it comes to basic child welfare–needs it’s remaining leaders  to not bow down to these few greedy plutocrats, no sir.  We need to stand firm as ONE~ just like the fake grass roots 21st Century GOP does every day, fighting for our children and grand children’s futures–futures that include seeing a whale in the big, blue SEA someday. In an ocean that is not dying a slow acidic death because WE, as a species, did not wake up in time to save it along with planet as a whole.

Have a nice day folks and be well.

Tomorrow is another day.  Remembering that LOVE and LIGHT always triumph over the dark!

The CEO’s retort

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 7:19 pm

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the dark, gloomy and rather muggy island of Nantucket! “…Good evening…, as the fantastic late, great Alfred Hitchcock was lovingly remembered as always saying, and it is Great to be with you on this gloomy Wednesday evening, the fifth day of November, 2014.  Hope all is well with everyone recovering from all the fun that was had on Tuesday, God bless all who covered that spectacle (MSNBC especially).  And please recover soon, hopefully knowing that this is all an illusion, or a dream as the man sings, sailing gently down that stream…

This just in from Reuters, an exclusive exchange between an employee and an employer…let’s have a listen in, shall we?

“…please, sit down  You have meddled with the primal forces of nature Mr. Beal, and I won’t have it!  Is that clear?  You think you merely stopped a business deal.  That is not the case.  The Arabs have taken millions of dollars out of this country and now they must put it back.  It is ebb and flow, tidal gravity, it is ecological balance.  You are an old man who thinks in terms of nations and peoples.  There are no nations.  There are no peoples.  There are no Russians, there are no Arabs, there are no third worlds, there is no West.  There is only one holistic SYSTEM of SYSTEMS.  One vast and main, interwoven, interacting, multivariate, multinational dominion of DOLLARS.  Petrodollars, electrodollars, mulitdollars, Reich marks, Rems, Rubles, Pounds and schekles.  It is the international system of currency, that determines the totality of life on this planet.  That is the natural order of things today.  THAT is the atomic, subatomic and galactic STRUCTURE of things today.  And YOU have meddled with the forces of nature.  And you will ATONE.  Am I getting through to you Mr. Bean?  You get up on your little 21 inch screen and howl about America, and democracy.  There is no America.  There is no democracy.  There is only IBM, ITT and AT&T; DuPont, Dow, Union Carbide and Exxon.  Those ARE the nations of the world today.  What do you think the Russians talk about in their counsels of state?  Karl Marx?  They get out their linear programming charts, statistical decision theories, Binder max solutions, and compute the price/cost probability of their transitions and investments.  Just like we all do.  We no longer live in a world of nations’ ideologies Mr. Beal.  The world is a college of corporations, inexorability, determined, by the immutable laws of business.  The world is a business Mr. Beal.  It has been since man crawled out of the slime.  And our children will live Mr. Beal, to see that perfect world, at which there is no war, or famine, oppression or brutality.  One vast and ecumenical holy landing; for whom all men will work to serve a common PROFIT.  At which all men will hold a share of stock.  All necessities will be provided, all anxieties tranquilized, all boredom amused.  And I have chosen you, Mr. Beal, to preach this Evangelia.  why me? Because you’re on TV dummy.  Because 60 million people watch you every week.  You’re on Monday through Friday!  i have seen the face of God! You may be just be right Mr. Beal…”.

That next week, Mr. Beal went on the air to preach the corporate cosmology of Arthur Jensen.

“…Last night, as I asked you people to fight for your heritage, you did, and it was wonderful.  Six million telegrams were received at the White House.  The Arab takeover of ‘CCA’ has been stopped.  The people spoke, the people won and it was a radiant eruption of democracy.  But  I think that was it fellas.  That sort of thing is not likely to happen again, because at the bottom of all of our ‘terrified souls‘, we know that democracy is a dying giant.  A sick, sick, dying, decaying political concept rioting in it’s final pain.  I don’t mean that the United States is finished as a world power; the United States is the riches, the most powerful, the most advanced country in the world, light years ahead of any other country.  And I don’t mean the communists take over the world because the communists are even deader than we are.  What is finished is the idea that this great country is dedicated to the freedom and flourishing of EVERY individual in it.  It’s the individual that’s finished.  It’s the single, solitary human being that’s finished.  It’s every single one of you out there that’s finished.  This is no longer a nation of independent individuals.  It’s a nation of some 200 odd million transistorized, deodorized, whiter than white, steel belted bodies, totally unnecessary as human beings and as replaceable as pistol rods.”  (credit the film “Network”, starring Faye Dunaway, Peter Finch, William Holden, Ned Beatty, Robert DuVall, circa 1976).

Have a nice week ahead, knowing that it’s not money, rather LOVE that truly makes this world go round.

A November choice…

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 8:35 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the beautiful, sunny and mild island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this Tuesday morning, the 4th day of November, 2014, election day here in the United States, as the good citizens of this very wealthy nation decide once again who will lead them into the future, a future with ‘lots of known unknowns’ as it were…

These midterm elections are pivotal in how the average American will fair as opposed to the top ‘earners’ in this country (the top .001 percent v roughly 300 plus million of ‘…the American people’), really what this election is all about.  With a possible plutocratic takeover in the future, as the real natural waves take control of the conversation, along with the rising seas coupled with warming temperatures, hotter and more intense wild fires, mudslides, deepening droughts, much more severe storms, and an ocean that is becoming more acidic by the hour.  Nothing to SEA here folks!  “…and I said I wanted fries with that God dammit!”.

Ah, but those are mere facts laddie and future prognostications about something (global warming) that does not even exist.  This talk of a man made cataclysm is a waste of everybody’s time, am I right? “…what I’m talking about here are jobs, yeah, ‘merican jobs, you betcha!  Oh, and if you don’t want that Ebola in your neighborhood, or wish for a safe militarized ‘no fly zone’ for your community, to keep them pesky journalists from doing their job of reporting the TRUTH (Ferguson, Missouri), or ISIL taking over your local 7/11 well then, a vote for me, Scott Brown, former Senator from a state that didn’t want me no more, Massachusetts, is in order.

“…For I am a microcosm of this whole election cycle. I represent the lolly pop guild, the puppet brigade, ‘men with strings attached’, you get the idea. I work for Koch and ExxonMobil, the real future of this country and knowing y’all don’t like Obama or his policies that favor the many, well then, Scott Brown is your one stop shopping for political pandering and plutocratic plight.  We frown on giving away health care to poor people, poo poo on that my friend.  Why do these poor kids need food?  Can’t they get a job?  No more Mr. Nice Guy, ’cause after we waste millions of your hard earned tax dollars on impeaching this Kenyan socialist, we are going to gut the EPA, the Department of Education, the IRS, and any and all social programs we can get our hands on.  “Furthermore, we are going to ask all of our citizens to wear their underpants on the outside, so we can check…” (credit that last line to Woody Allen’s classic 1971 film, “Bananas”).

The U.S. Senate is at stake, as well as a myriad of important governorships across the nation.  New Hampshire and North Carolina are in play first, must wins for Democrats, and then it’s on to the main event.  Are you ready to rumble!!! Iowa, Colorado, Kansas, Alaska, Georgia and Arkansas are all part of this mix of six, the magic number needed by the Republicans to take control of the Senate, with December and January, a runoff in both Georgia and Arkansas a distinct possibility.  Happy Holidays everybody!

The stark contrast between the two competing philosophies could not be starker, and thus, the stakes could not be higher.  The Republican brand, as Rand Paul (R-KY) stated a few weeks back, “…sucks”, thus, it will take a whole lot more than the dark Koch monies to fool the American people into believing you about much of anything, save that you are not in this game to serve, ‘the American people’ you seem to know nothing about, caring even less…

This is still a democracy with that little letter ‘d‘ and the fact that many gave the ultimate sacrifice for that lower case letter and all that it represents is more important than any amount of money.  Men and women much larger than these modern day Robber Barons in this late year of 2014.  American values do not include destroying our aquifers, our lakes, our streams, our marshes, our estuaries, our brooks, our rivers, our reservoirs, our tributaries, or OUR seven mighty oceans, via large international corporate polluters who have American politicians in their collective back pockets, like so much change…a nickle here and a nickle “their”, while they continue raping and pillaging our heritage–our land, air and water–with their chemicals and other waste as they continue a march of madness chanting the plutocratic oath from the roof tops of the world–”PROFIT over People”.

A lesser bird?

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 8:36 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the cold, clear and sun drenched island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this Monday morning, the eve of the U.S. midterm elections, this third day of November, 2014.  Good morning! and with only one day to go before we all find out who will ‘lead’ this new Senate/Congress, the 114th of this nations’ rather young and violent history, I am sure we are all on the edge of our collective seats, so enjoy the spectacle that is fair and honest elections?  In 21st Century America?

But before you go to the polls, just remember this.  A Corey Gardner of Colorado, a Joni Ernst of Iowa, a Scott Brown of New Hampshire?–are all votes for the plutocratic takeover of this great country that has fought tooth and nail, many dying in wars, just to preserve a democracy.  You can put all the spin on it you want, but that is the bottom line here.

If the plutocrats take over…

Gone will be the birds, the polar bear, the forests, lakes and streams.   Gone will be innocence of youth, where urban settings become more like target practice than a place of common good and common growth.  Gone will be education and the EPA (already largely in bed with big polluters like ExxonMobil & Koch Industries), along with the minimum wage that sets some kind of standard in this here US of A, where we collectively believe that people in such a rich country should not be left on the streets–freezing & starving to death.  Gone will be the light in people’s eyes all over the world when the name “America” is brought up, once a proud beacon of TRUTH, JUSTICE.  You know, ‘the American way’, the Lone Ranger among others promoted and protected…   Now a nation to be feared, moreover, by many in the world, a nation to be hated.

Gone are the fishes in the oceans that are dying of acidification, one pristine coral reef; one magnificent star fish at a time, as we look in marvel for a few seconds on the TV at our accomplishment of creating giant garbage patches (the size of Texas in all seven seas), while once proud fisherman on the Louisiana coast fiddle with a 5 inch glob of oil (thanks bp!–for all the memories and the deadly Corexit ‘dispersant’ combined, on purpose, with the 500 million gallons of nasty crude y’all spilled in that horrible 2010 ‘mix-up’ the Gulf!), the size of Rhode Island sitting at the bottom of that Gulf, killing anything and everything in the area, creating what people known as ’scientists’ call a ‘0 oxygen zone’, or a “dead zone”, where even those basic, fundamental and essential building blocks of the food chain, microorganisms, die.  A trend that will continue going up the food chain until…

Gone is the moral fabric of our nation, where we let the big polluters literally take over Congress (PROFIT over people), thus spelling not only doom for the world’s overall environment, as explained (more about that later in the broadcast sometime this week), by the new IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) report on the earth’s rising temperature, but our education system as well, rewriting the history books, as if to say, nothing to see here folks!  A report that received about ten seconds air time on NBC & ABC.  The new corporate news outlets for the masse, shifting gears quickly to spend another hour on Ebola and the space ship crash a few days back…

Ostriches got nothing on Republicans baby! What are your ‘thoughts’ “Morning Joe”?

I know I am not alone in this call from the wilderness, in this ‘message in a bottle’ as the country attempts to fool itself one more time with a Republican brand that wishes to ’shrink government down to the size where they could drown it in a bathtub’ (credit Grover Norquist, tax henchman for the plutocratic overlords), but only when it gets in the Oligarch’s way.  Republicans have no problem getting in women’s uterus’s, or having the Supreme Court act as activist for “The Brothers’ Koch”, not to be confused with the scary fairy tales of “The Brothers Grimm” from the 19th century, where their stories of witches (Hansel and Gretel) luring young children into a ginger bread house, apparently to bake them into a pie or something to that effect, is being played out right here in ‘Gasland’ (an HBO original movie, a must SEA!), I mean the United States of America.

Please vote today folks, remembering that even if the dark money Ads work and these newly elected “puppets for plutocrats” take the country to a new low, don’t give up the fight.  Even the General Secretary of the United Nations, the honorable Ban Ki Moon, stated clearly this past week ‘that if nations are willing to SEA the LIGHT and reduce carbon emissions–”the earth may still have a fighting chance.”

However, if we continue to allow big polluters–big oil, gas and coal–to continue sending up their billions of tons of carbon into said atmosphere with no penalties, making money hand over fist as whole nations fall under water, well then, I suppose that if you believe in Jesus,  Heaven and Saint Peter–as these deep “Christian” Titans claim– how do you square your behavior with welleternal grace?

There are no lesser birds laddie…
