“Overboard”

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 12:32 pm

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the once again sunny, breezy, cool and always delightful island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this Friday morning, the twenty-ninth day of August, 2014, a spectacular one out on those aforementioned platitudes one finds oneself when getting lost in the beauty of this little sand bar created 11,500 years ago by the Last Great Ice Age.  Of course, this is Labor Day week end and the Cape and Islands will be jam packed with everyone from everywhere from now ’till Monday when they, like the Osprey, will fly away for yet another season.   Many are on a ferry from Nantucket, already pining for those lazy summer days, even as I write these words, or, have already left their favorite spot in this magic kingdom and are sitting at a desk in some high rise wondering when will it be that I SEA that great place again?  “Seasons in the Sun indeed…”.  Fear not, summer will be back again next year, so until then, we will as always, leave the Light on for ya!’.

In the ‘real world’, especially on FOX “NEWS?”, the grim reality of living in their Murdoch produced man made FEAR never ceases to amaze.  From Ebola to ISIL, immigration/impeachment, Ferguson’s simmering tempest and the incredible amount of energy coming at you with school starting, a new TV/NFL Football season and of course, who can forget, the 2014 midterm elections here in the good ‘ole US of A!  It was fun to hear Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, a Republican, chime in at the Koch Brothers “hostile take over of the United States of America” annual summit at the fancy St. Regis resort in Dana Point, California.  A fitting Monarch of hotels, really, I have been there. It was at this swanky get together the plutocratic overlords have every year for the most recent memory, plotted to eliminate the EPA and the need for a democracy all together… A sentiment that the fine (outdated and dangerous) excuse for a United States Senator told a crowd of like minded men that he had their back all the way and that if, God Forbid, the Republicans win back that Senate come the fall, well then, he will personally go out and buy more puppet strings, ’cause, buy gum, we sure are going to need a whole lot more! Yep, we be passing all those new deregulation bills into law!  Isn’t that right Mr. President?

Stay tuned, but ’till then Mitch– don’t you go changin’ just to please me–ya hear?  You too Charles Koch, but just remember, we all breathe the same air, drink the same water and eat the same food and we all get to answer to our own consciences, assuming you have one.  Maybe not all eat the same food, as many in this nation live in food/education/environmental/Gaza strip like deserts, where one is limited to dinner at say a tax dodging corporate “food” merchant like Burger King, who like to say, “…have it your way!” Let US keep the ever growing gap between the haves and the have nots expand until every last bridge falls down. Let us keep the system, the rigged system, of what is being toted as democracy today (with the little letter d).  Yes, by all means, let us keep that system in place.  In fact, let “US” make it stronger so that the gap grows even more until one day, the ’system’ fall apart due to it’s imbalance.  Like a house of cards it collapses on itself, leaving a whole lot of people very angry at the few who have profited, enjoyed this nation’s WEALTH, her natural resources, while vowing to leave nothing for the many who do most of the living, laughing, loving and eventual, after a hopefully long a happy life, dying in this great nation.  A nation built on the principal that if you work hard and live right, you can get ahead.  Not a nation built on every man for himself and ‘he that hath all the GOLD makes all the rules. That is why this nation exists in the first place, because of rules like that!  Just ask King George III…he’ll tell ya!” !  Have a nice week end folks, Labor Day week end, remembering to be good to yourself–loving the little things around you.  Grateful people are happy people, those who aren’t, aren’t…… PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! No Angel?

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the sunny, awesome, perfect, top notch, beautiful island of Nantucket! Good to SEA ya’ll on this Monday evening, the 25th day of August, 2014.  If you picked this week for your vacation on that fabled isle, well now, you are in LUCK, ’cause it will be in the seventies and sunny all week long!

Of course, in Ferguson, Missouri, that weather report is of little significance, as the funeral for an 18 year old boy was held today, with thousands in attendance, from Reverend Al Sharpton to civic leaders of all stripes and denominations, crying out for JUSTICE in a very unjust country.  On MSNBC’s “The Cycle” (weekdays at 3 p.m. eastern), co anchor Toure gave us a little history lesson on the origin of police forces and the fact many of those forces are seeing an epidemic of police violence against the citizens they are sworn to ‘protect and serve’.  Offering up tanks, sub machine guns and an itchy trigger finger in it’s place.  Way back in 1829, one of Great Britain’s land secretaries in the British Parliament, Sir Robert Peel, became what he is know today– the father of modern policing.  With the onset of the Industrial Revolution and a new need for better security, the ‘bobbies’ as they became to be known, these new ‘police officers’, named in his honor, were introduced to England, much to the dislike of most of the public.  Introduced not as an extension of the military, dressed in royal red.  No, dressed in blue and instructed to go out and act as a part of the community, lo, one where they were forbidden to carry guns, yes, one where Sir Robert made it CLEAR that it is PARAMOUNT that this new police force maintain the public’s TRUST.

Dictating the ‘Sir Robert Peel’s Principals of Policing’ goes along as such…  1.  The power of the police is dependent on public approval of their existence.  2.  The extent to which the public can be secured diminishes proportionately the necessity of the use of physical force.  3.  The police are the public and the public and the police.  Pretty common sense stuff.  “This isn’t Russia Danny, is this Russia?” (credit the classic 1978 film “Caddyshack”, starring Chevy Chase and the late, great Ted Knight), yes, let’s try to refrain from acting like Vladamir Putin and win the hearts and minds of America’s young people, not put them in FEAR.

Two quotes I thought were important to note.  One coming from a former police chief of Minneapolis, Minnesota, David Cooper, stating recently in his blog, Improving Policing, “…in order to be fair and effective, a police agency must have the TRUST and RESPECT of those they police…They (must) work collaboratively with citizens…”. What are your thoughts Reverend Al?  I heard you LOUD and CLEAR at church today, Michael Brown’s goodbye.  Yes, you spoke of that book (the Bible) some use as a weapon, a hypocritical weapon at that, a little part where it says, “…the last shall be first and the first shall be last.”, going on to say, “Justice will come, Justice will come, Justice will come.”

I hope you are right Reverend, for far too many of our fellow citizens have been injured or mortally wounded by what some would call ‘little men with little power’, thuggish cops.  Certainly not the majority of police in America today, many doing outstanding work day in an day out.  But to those who misuse the public’s TRUST by gunning down an unarmed relative baby in the streets, one with his hands in the air pleading for his life, yes, if you think you are going to continue to abuse that trust, think again.  Think this is going to be swept under the rug–think again!

Phillip Atiba Goff, Founder of the Center for Policing and Equity sums it up this way. “…compliance with the law stems from TRUST in police, not FEAR of them.” This branch in the new U.S. military industrial complex, via the Department of Homeland Security is now spending 35 billion dollars to outfit places like Ferguson, MO, population 22,000, with Lockheed Martin’s newest stuff, like man pads and armored military vehicles, making the CEO and shareholders happy, while the poor kids in that little Missouri town struggle to find enough food to eat and are afraid to walk down the street lest they get a major hassle from the majority white police force of Ferguson.

Not an Angel?  F you New York Times!  Your paper is becoming irrelevant, for we SEA your editorial biases now are based on the almighty buck.  Michael Brown may very well, as far as you REALLY know, yes he may well be looking down from on high… with the help of real Angels who no longer read your paper.

Have a nice week ahead folks and remember to go out and smell the roses, even on Park Avenue.  Remembering the air, water and earth are the same everywhere–all is connected…  RIP Michael Brown, RIP… PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M

“Fox’s Path…”

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 11:11 am

A Fox’s Path

Across the dune and into the tall grass, gazing far into the morning’s light–

A red Cape Cod Fox trots tenderly about the sand, strewn with seagull, blue heron and egret–moving effortlessly here and there like a Monarch, a kindred spirit, not tethered by the things of man…

How splendid the moment he rose this ‘morn, not knowing what the day would bring.

The scent of salt cupped with the early dew glistening on the cut green, green grass of summers, August summers on a little sand bar created eons ago by mighty glaciers, aged ‘ore a billions years, drifting off into a deep sleep not of their making…evolving into massive clouds evoking awe, producing wicked force.

Suddenly, the silence is broken by the flutter of an Osprey as it dives down into Nantucket’s sound; violent splash awakening the Fox’s instincts to continue his day’s journey into  night–finding peace under an indigo moon rising steadily ‘ore the sandy mirage of ‘time’…

–New (soft & dirty) Money–

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 8:14 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the once again sunny, comfortable and very stylish island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this Friday morning, 7 a.m. sharp, the 22nd day of August, 2014, just returning from a kayak trip to Hyannis Port’s marsh lands, as the sun just began to rise over the myriad of American flags that dot this grand landscape, one that should be seen before it is all under water, say, 100 years from now…

But what does that matter to ‘the Brother’s Koch‘? Not to be confused with “The Brother’s Grimm” who brought fear to the hearts of young children back in the 19th century with tales of witches luring youngsters into her ‘gingerbread’ house with ’shiny objects’ and highly processed “food”, devoid of that FACT she planned to bake them into a pie!  The new powerful soft money being poured into the upcoming Midterm U.S. elections this year, pivotal to keeping this 238 year old experiment of a real democracy alive one more century, has replaced the old local, state and federal political parties/powers, as plutocrats like David and Charles Koch of Koch Industries, ‘bringing you earth killing chemical pollution since 1927′ introduce–via their new recruits, young “volunteers”–POLICIES designed to keep the status quo alive and well.  Lo, to increase their hold on the process of making laws in this nation and thus controlling the POWER over the people and her will, “…can someone say Americans for the KOCH BROTHERS’ Prosperity? Sure, I knew that you could!”.

That’s right Fred Rogers it ain’t your neighborhood anymore, them Koch boys have done bought up all the land and put up fracking wells, who else do you have on the show today?  “Well, we were going to talk to the Koch Brother’s about all of those chemicals in the fracking process, along with all of the other pollution for profit policies, but they informed me that I should just stay in ‘the magic kingdom’ because clean air, water and soil in the new United States of ExxonMobil (please Google ‘The Heartland Institute’ and ‘Americans for Prosperity’), is going to be in short supply soon, so Fred, you and your show are best served by keeping your mouth shut.”

In fact, why don’t we all just watch some more mind numbing and rather  patronizing/insulting ABC News, with Diane Sawyer? Yes, by all means, let US get brainwashed and fooled (”…fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, well, you, ah, um, well, you just can’t get fooled again…”, credit the deep, devout 43rd President of the United States of America, George W. Bush), all over again regarding the Middle East.  In particular, Iraq, yes that Iraq!  For the LOVE of GOD, let us jump right back into that 2003 nightmare–coming in the form of an ISIL trap.

Mission Creep combined with the Military Industrial Complex, (President Eisenhower warned us of 54 years ago), is all I need today, what’s that?  There’s more?  Diane is going to tell us all about the Ebola outbreak? Installing that fear as we go to commercial break?  That’s right, we are going to make you sit through one Madison Avenue wizardry trick after another!  Lot of bright and confusing lights, really loud, hypnotic, creepy music, sexual innuendo and just a touch of COPD to ‘make you think’.  Honey, could you turn the TV off for a moment?  I think I am going to throw up.  I feel really nauseous, in fact, I haven’t felt this bad since I watched that Ronald Reagan film (credit the classic film, circa 1980, “Airplane”, starring the late, great Lloyd Bridges).  Horrible chemical Ads, mostly about erectile dysfunction and pain relievers, enough to make the movie, circa 1971, “Clockwork Orange” blush.  “Turn it off!  Turn it off!  I can’t take any more!!“…

Back to the ’show’, Diane is now speaking of that ugly protesting going on in Ferguson, Missouri, but now that Attorney General Eric Holder is on the case, I am sure St. Louis prosecutor Robert McCulloch will do the right thing and recuse himself from the Michael Brown murder trial.  I am sure the Larry Hagman double–who recently acquitted some of Ferguson’s ‘finest’ (Ferguson Police Department shot two men to death in a park recently, killing them, with McCulloch dismissing the whole thing because they were, in his words, ‘bums’), not to mention he is tied in, with blood, to the police department–will take this case on and muck it up.  But that is good news for ABC, CBC and NBC, plus PBS, FOX, BBC, AJ, CNN and even RT, ’cause everyone likes a good RIOT when they acquit this officer who shot and brutally killed an unarmed 18 year old African-American boy, one pleading for his life with his hands in the air.  Shooting him in the light of DAY to death, some would say, in cold blood…  And here’s Tom with the (new normal segment on extreme) weather!

Well, at least it’s Friday and this is not Russia, is this Russia Danny?  I hope you and yours have a great week end, and remember the good things in life!   Like Diane telling that wonderful story about a dog who surfs, makes his owner breakfast in bed, does the dishes, and the laundry, you betcha!  That’s right, he takes the kids to school and still has time to volunteer down at ‘the old folks home’, offering solace and deep mediation in a crazy, insane, madcap world we all share.  Woof! Knowing that in REALITY the world really is my family and maybe if we all knew that, we would not treat each other so poorly.  But then again, have you ever met some of these Irish families in South Boston?  They don’t seem like they like each other any more than do the Israelis and Palestinians…  Stay safe and get out there–Cape Cod and the Islands! Smell the Rugosa Roses! PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M

All Aboard 2.0!

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 2:03 pm

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the sunny, breezy, rather cool island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on a Monday afternoon, 1:23 eastern, the 18th day of August, 2014, just returning from a walk in and around the awesome “Eagle Pond”, in Cotuit, ‘where the ocean meets the wood’, just another beautiful spot on the mainland of Cape Cod.  There is very little doubt that this little sand bar created 11,500 years ago by the Last Great Ice Age, along with those famous islands, MV and Nantucket, is one of the most pristine and notable destinations on planet earth.  Living in such an almost wordless beauty and breathing this salty air as millions flock here every summer, is not only a privilege, but one that should not be missed by any kid, from 2-92 and beyond…

The troubles on this world we all share are not going away, however, there must be some off button to the treadmill one may find oneself on.  The constant blaring of television, radio, film and video game is tough to take 24/7, just ask Jon Stewart of “The Daily Show” fame.  He’ll tell ya!  “…one more God d#$m FOX NEWS bit and I’m going to have to give that Phillips’ lady a call.  Either that or just watch some of Sarah Palin’s pay-per-view ‘reality’ TV show, You betcha!  I don’t know what would be worse, spending some quality time in northern Iraq, you know, somewhere near the Syrian border, or hanging out with Sarah and ‘the Fam’ (credit Bill Murray in the classic film, “What about Bob”, also starring the great Richard Dreyfus) taking some pot shots at defenseless wolves roaming what may turn out to be the last of the vanishing wilderness, while explain’ what she would like done to her Russian neighbor (`4000 miles away in Moscow), ‘ole KGB Vlad, crazy old Russian scoundrel, keeps flyin’ those planes don’t cha kno?  Yeah, he be flyin’ ‘ore head not knowin’ where they are going? Do ya know what I mean eh? Turnin’ into a Canadian eh? We got to know where they are going, eh?”. God help us.

Take your pick folks. What to be OUTRAGED about today?

Really!  So many issues and so little time… Or not.  Take a break and go for a walk.  But say you are a glutton for those political talk shows like I am, and say, you are trying to ‘cut down’ to a ‘pack a day’?  For God sakes, start with a question.  “Do I want the TRUTH, or do I want to be lied to, abused, taken for hostage, manipulated and brainwashed?”  If you chose door number one, my suggestion is read ‘The Guardian’, watch some shows on MSNBC (such as “NOW”, with Alex Wagner; the show’s title a great theme for what I speak of in this commentary) and chime in on ‘the climate capture report’, oh, and know that climate change is real and is only going to get worse if something is not done to stop the vicious cycle of Carbon Dioxide and now Methane being released into Earth’s atmosphere en masse, as the frozen tundra in both Alaska and Russia starts to thaw, as the earth gets warmer…  So at this juncture, why be told what to buy, what to wear, what to watch and, well, for God’s sake, do you want FACEBOOK to conduct more social experiments on you?  Wake up to your own TRUTH (the power), and go out and smell the roses. At least for one day.  The social unrest going on in Ferguson, Missouri, USA, the possible war crimes being committed in Gaza, Russian aggression on the Ukraine border, the Midterm elections and the bloody ’smart phone’ will be there when you get back from your metaphorical walk.  You don’t have to be on the Cape to feel like you are here. When one has only negative thoughts running around without any air from the REAL world inside us all, you know, the constant barrage of information that we seem to feel the ‘need’ to answer to?  When one has all of that, well, it should not be hard to SEA one cannot feel good. And is that not what LOVE is?  To feel good INSIDE and give it right back?

Just some SEA food for thought folks.  Hope you have a great rest of the day and a HAPPY tomorrow!~  PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M

Incoming!!!

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the once again stellar, sun drenched, wicked windy and all round great island of Nantucket! Great to be with you again on this beautiful Friday afternoon on Cape Cod, Hyannis/Hyannis Port to be specific, and it is difficult to believe it is already August 15th, in this late year of 2014…

I say late because it is equally hard to believe that an officer of the LAW would gun down an unarmed man in cold blood in this 21st century America, according to now 2 very good witnesses.  I know from whence I speak.  Read “Taking Fog to Nantucket” and you will get some echoes of police brutality coming from what happened to me in 2003, on a gorgeous summer day just like today.  I will not get into the details save this–According to 2 witnesses only 20 feet away in the then “Atlantic Cafe” in lovely tree lined, gas lamp lit, cobblestone downtown Nantucket, an officer approached me on India street on August 2 of that year, and began to hassle me with aggressive and rather scary behavior.  He asked me to take my hands out of my pockets, to wit I obliged, and then he suddenly handcuffed me with my hands behind my back, then tripped me with tremendous force and guided my unprotected head directly into the sidewalk below, face first, blood gushing out of my head as the officers did nothing to help, as I was in a coma by then.  Yes sir, a true ’slam dunk’, as one of the witnesses stated in sworn affidavits.  Like the witness ‘Tiffany’  (I just watched on last night’s “Last Word”, with Lawrence O’Donnell, only on MSNBC) stated regarding the ‘incident’ in Ferguson, Missouri only days ago, where a young, 18, black male was apparently shot down by another out of control officer sworn to ‘protect and serve’.  According to Tiffany, the man surrendered, with his hands up, but the officer tried to kill him anyway.  In his case, the officer succeeded.  In mine, I am still recovering...but alive, thank God.

On Wednesday night, the Ferguson Police Department pulled out all the stops, turning that town of 22,000 souls, a suburb of St. Louis, into Beirut.  That’s right folks, let’s really turn up the heat and show the whole world what little boys can do with new toys from Uncle Sam, or rather the failed policies of the George W. Bush administration, i.e. the bloated budget for “Homeland Security”–rocket propelled missals, tanks, more sub-machine guns, destroyers, aircraft carriers and small, tactical nuclear devices!  “I love the smell of Napalm in the morning, it smells like victory!” (credit the classic film, circa 1979 “Apocalypse Now”, starring Robert Duvall).

I suppose that movie dovetails nicely with the history we are talking about here.  For it was not too long ago, where 4 young students were gunned down at Kent State in Ohio, but it was, as Rachel Maddow pointed out (TRMS, at 9 p.m. eastern, again, only on the station that tells it like it is, MSNBC, chalk full of rare concepts like TRUTH and Compassion, with that very real Light of Justice being behind it and all, hopefully bringing that HOPE back to the U.S. community at large–stay tuned America!) before that incident that ended most of the police brutality aimed at the then anti Vietnam War protestors, mostly in the late 60’s and early 70’s, culminating in a rare period of peace and calm across the nation once again, yes, but before that happened, there were many, many cases of police brutality, and little to no arrests regarding their blatant disregard for the LAW they are supposed to ‘protect and serve’.

This is far from over.  The nation is watching, lo, the world, as the Missouri State Police took over for the FPD for at least last night, as the police riots were not on display again.  However, according to Tiffany the witness at that scene in Ferguson, the officer drew his weapon and fired on an unarmed man, multiple times, killing him on the street like a dog.   Think about it people!  When that man, who had been hit in the back by bullets emanating from the officers handgun while he was in pursuit, yes, when he turned to face the officer with his hands in the air, complete surrender…the officer unloaded at least three more rounds into his body.  According to Tiffany, he went down in three seconds and presumably died on the spot.  But we don’t know, for, again, according to witnesses, hundreds on the scene, the police left the body in the hot sun for four hours, never taking a pulse or even doing anything remotely decent, such as dignifying the now big time under federal investigation crime scene.

The United States of America is not up for sale and the people who live, work, love, learn, eat, laugh, breathe, play the eventually pass from this earthly plane, hopefully after a long and fruitful life, deserve better than what they are getting from people in positions of power, i.e. many police officers who take the law into their own hands and never get punished for their crimes.  There will be a price to be paid and it is high time these local police departments fess up to what they have done and redeem themselves.  We are a civilization, not a target practice range.  These people, the African American community of Ferguson and fill in the blank U.S.A., have a RIGHT to a good education, good food, good drinking water, good hospitals, good roads, good housing and good police officers.  We must embrace our differences with love and understanding–not bullets, brawn and brainlessness.

This has been a tough week, “…looks like I picked the wrong week to stop sniffing glue”. (credit the classic 1980 film “Airplane“, starring the late, great Lloyd Bridges, who also stated in that comic gem, “…get me Rex Kramer!” Please, help bring this crazy plane of hate and violence down for a landing.  Have a great week end folks and be kind to little things, especially the weak and the vulnerable.  “…what you do unto the least of us, you do unto me.” Or did not the evangelical wing of the fake grass roots, corporate, plutocratic owned ‘tea party’ get that memo?  Or scripture?  Or Gospel from their number one guy, Reagan?  I mean Jesus? PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M

“The Fisher KING”.

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 3:04 pm

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the sunny, cool, rather calm and wonderfully delightful island of Nantucket.  “What? Too squishy?” (credit the classic film “The Birdcage”, starring Robin Williams. It has been a few days since MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell reported on “The Last Word” the tragic death of the Captain of all of our hearts, a true comic genius, Robin Williams.  “What will your verse be?” (credit the classic film, “Dead Poet’s Society”).  I think we know what Robin’s was, and it enriched US all.

President Obama, vacationing on Martha’s Vineyard, welcome sir, only a few miles from where I write these words in Hyannis/Hyannis Port, said this Tuesday–this being Thursday, the 14th day of August, 2014, Robin passing on the 11th–”…Robin Williams was an airman, a doctor, a genie, a nanny, a president, a professor, a bang a rang Peter Pan, and everything in between, but he was one of a kind.  He arrived in our lives as an alien, but he ended up touching every element of the human spirit.  He made us laugh, he made us cry.  He gave his immeasurable talent freely to those who needed it the most.  From our troops stationed abroad, to the many living on the streets.  The Obama family offers our condolences to Robin’s family, to Robin’s friends and to everyone who found their voice and their verse thanks to Robin Williams” .

I’ve heard a lot in the air these past few days, but there was only one that struck me as golden when attempting to sum up what can not be explained in words or feelings–genius. Getting to the core of who Robin really was–journalist Maria Shriver offering a posting on FACEBOOK of a man on a park bench… Robin profoundly remarking that one should be kind above all in this world. For “you have no idea what kind of a journey they have been on”. Not truly comprehending what that person is going through, or has been through already. Robin was generous to the needy, to wit I can attest to personally, and reached out to the homeless, the most vulnerable in our society. A society that values the morals of money and fame more than it does the human condition we all share.  Not to mention Mother Earth, the planet WE all inhabit for a short period of ‘time’.  A planet whose resources must sustain the many–not just the fortunate few.

James Cameron of “Inside the Actors’ Studio”, always asks his guests, ‘… if Heaven exists, what would you like God to say as you stand at the entrance to the Pearly Gates?’, and Robin said, “…there’s seating near the front.  The concert begins at five, it will be Mozart, Elvis and one of your choosing.”  “…or, to know that there’s laughter.  That would be a great thing.”  “Just to hear God say, two Jews walk into a bar…”.

I don’t know about you, but I will miss Sir Robin Williams deeply.  You see, I know the world has lost one of it’s brightest and most beautiful Lights. A world of seemingly endless darkness, filled with war, famine, greedy politicians and their plutocratic overlords destroying democracy for profit.  Yes, in a world growing ever warmer, changing rapidly, ripe with droughts, rising seas, polluted fracking pools, plagues, police brutality, income inequality, epic oceanic and land/air/water pollution, all brought to you by the commercials on those mindless, mind numbing TV shows, it is always nice to know the TRUTH.

And that it is this.  It will be those that bring us LAUGHTER, thus great JOY, that we LOVE the most, and thus treasure, cherish and in the end, miss the most.  Those whose very lives, and what they did with those lives, made US all–wherever you are in this still beautiful and wondrous world–BREATHE a little easier, are the most valuable of all.  Thanks for those laughs Robin and whoever is running, or not running the show, please take good care of him and let him know he will be missed.  I think one reporter put it best when he choked back tears, “…we have lost a loved one.” PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M

“War on Whites?”…”Got Water?”

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 9:49 am

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the foggy, warm and very, very rich island of Nantucket! Great to be with you early on this August fifth morning, in the late year of 2014, a period in ‘time’ where it seems the human race would be a bit more advanced than it is when dealing with others of that same race.

With the ’super’ U.S. Congress out of session (and out of their minds), for the next month, it would seem that things might calm down a bit.  WRONG.  The right wing anti-democracy party–made mostly up of angry, wealthy, narrow minded and easily controlled/manipulated/commanded (by their plutocratic puppeteers) white guys– the now defunct and hijacked GOP, is on the verge of impeaching President Barack Obama, our very fine 44th U.S. President, attempting to destroy his legacy at every turn, as the history books will show years from now, and in the process, turn this great nation’s future over to the coward corporate lobbies, who work in the dark for such Machiavellian institutions like “The Heartland Institute”, or “A.L.E.C.”, whose main goal is to write legislation for bought puppets in both chambers of Congress, leading to the eventual destruction of our 238 year old experiment called the  United States of America.

The problem with ‘the free hand of the market’ taking over where government once reigned (like the EPA), is GREED. The first casualty of that vice is the average person and the environment in which they live.  Recently in Toledo, Ohio, residents could not use their water as a nasty blue/green algae bloom took over portions of Lake Erie (source for millions of drinking water folks, you betcha!), due mostly to toxic waste carried by the river system in Ohio, all draining into the lake.  Phosphorous and Nitrogen being the main culprits (“…Chinchbugs, Nitorgen.  A lot of people don’t even know what ‘dat means!”, credit ‘Carl Spackler‘, Assistant Greens-keeper at Bushwood Country Club, played brilliantly in the classic 1978 film “Caddyshack” by the impermeable Bill Murray; written by the late, great Harold Ramis), most of it coming in the form of fertilizer pellets off of farms dotting the landscape in those three Midwestern states.  Also a big factor, the FACT of global warming, as the algae blooms feed off of the nutrients coming in the form of pollution and  grow exponentially when the waters are warmer than normal.  Couple that with the way over the average rain fall due to that climate change and presto! You got yourself a perfect storm. Just like the Methane leaking from permafrost from Alaska to Siberia.  For this is happening in 40 states now, according the the National Wildlife Foundation, or NWF, in all bodies of water, ever begging the question–as we look for life on other planets, getting all excited when we find WATER on one moon or asteroid or such–are we going back to our cave man roots or what?  Water is LIFE and it is high time we get on that FACT.  Stop allowing big corporations to pollute your world for THEIR PROFIT!

But fret not my friends!  At least we have ‘ole Mo Brooks, the fine congressman from the great state of Alabama.  A republican of course, and real good friends with all the insane haters out there in the bubble.  This is what he had to say about Obama (Happy Birthday by the way!) the other day that got some attention on the corporate owned airwaves (MSNBC doing a good job of bucking that trend), and I only slightly go off quote, “…Ya see, Obama thinks he is some kind of King.  He’s a tyrant, he acts lawlessly, he is waging a war on white people, telling the world they hate everybody.  He is starting culture wars between the poor haves and the bling wearin’, food stamp needin’, water lovin’ (hi Detroit!) have nots.  Yes sir, he pitting one group against the other, oh, wait a minute, isn’t that what we’re doing?”  “Just read the script Mo. (credit ‘the man behind the curtain…’).

Listen up Mr. Brooks, you don’t speak for me or any other group of people for that matter!  White, black, brown, yellow, orange, blue or polka dot!  You and your puppeteers are going to be exposed for what and who you really ARE!  Your blind allegiance to the corporate agenda via Koch Industries and the like is one hell of a legacy to leave your grand kids.  I want to SAVE mine.  Do you?  Pray for peace in the Middle East, or do whatever it is that you do in your mind to wish that into reality.  Too many images of dead children for the world to condone. Truce!

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the sunny, breezy, comfortable, very comfortable, island of Nantucket! Great to be with you and yours on this Friday afternoon, 2:22 p.m. eastern, the 1st day of August, 2014, that’s right August and you know what that means, sailing! You betcha! (please credit living loony tunes cartoon character, half ex-Governor Sarah Palin of Alaska, infamous American TV imbecile and wolf killer!).  And if you are one of those fine members of Congress who just got that law suit against our very fine U.S. President Barack Obama out of the way before the five week long summer break, I hope you meet up with one of the many Great White Sharks off of the Cape Cod waters and know what it must feel like to be one of those kids fleeing the horrors of drug cartels in Central America.  At least it’s not your kid right? Children are children are children . You know the good ‘ole republican party that is eating it’s own tea party tail.  Passing a bill yesterday, an historic law suit for moving that employer mandate up a bit in the newly implemented ACA.  A move made so that it would dove tail better with the whole process, really, not a big deal at all.  The ACA, the Affordable Care Act, or ‘Obamacare’, a top notch achievement regardless of what these Machiavellian knuckleheads think of it--or what they do to try and sabotage it.

Take a look at what they are really up to.. Dig deep, look at why they are now asking him to ‘use his Executive Authority’ on the immigration crisis while they are away on vacation, feeding the soul, assuming they have any left, the very ‘reason’ the GOP is suing to begin with.  Stating in clear cut GOP/Fox News talking points over and over again for years now… Screaming over the air waves that he is ‘ruling like a tyrant’ and ‘governing lawlessly’, amongst many other nonsensical talking points that feed the masses who listen to their every word–words put in their mouths by mischievous ‘men’ like the “Brother’s Koch” (not to be confused with the scary “Brother’s Grim” and their assortment of old school fairy tales that did not work out too well for kids like Hansel and Gretal, ya?), whose oligarchical goal of taking this country over, along with ExxonMobil, bp, Shell and Chevron, will be realized as soon as this President  is impeached, due, of course, to his overstepping/overuse of his Executive power, you know, by trying to do something about this humanitarian crisis on the border…  Tens of thousands of REAL children refugees, fleeing horrible gang violence via drug cartels in Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador, yes, as he attempts to do something about that one of many crisis’, e.g., the Israeli/Palestinian mess on the Gaza strip (realize real peace NOW!), to wit there is currently a 72 hour humanitarian TRUCE, as over 1400 Palestinians, mostly innocents, have died, yes, as he tries to put out all of those fires, he is met with resistance from his own countrymen, saboteurs rather.

Doctors in the region are literally crying in heart break as the children they are trying to save, die in their arms. Due mostly to lack of proper equipment, personnel and supplies…   But, with all that is going on in the world, Russia say, who would want to throw a monkey wrench into the whole thing and show the world what American experimentalism, I mean exceptional ism really looks like, who would want that?  Why none other than the completely insane 2014 GOP folks!  The guys and gals who really care about the world as they ponder ways to make it a worse off place, mostly by doing NOTHING in this past session save placing all of their future TRUST in the likes of a snake named Senator Ted Cruz of the great state of Texas, who, under the direction of his master$, is poised to take control of the Senate in the Fall, and that leader of this fake grass roots ‘tea Party, plutocratic Machiavellian tribe is going to run the whole show, or is he?

Remember also that ‘the Lord’, at least a pretty cool guy, a tree huggin’ liberal scumbag from 2000 plus years ago, Jesus Christ, prefers the meek and humble, honest and pure to what you can only be referred to now as the colossal money grubbin’ a$$hole type, a label you wear all too well.  I pray that at least some of my pals over on MSNBC take these republicans to task come November and rally as much of the base as you can.  democracy itself is at risk, not to mention this ever warming world we live in.  Concerns and questions any real, decent, fair minded and loving parents would ask of their elected ‘leaders’ in Congress.   Such as, “…what kind of legacy would I be leaving my children?  Why on God’s green earth would I vote for a party like that, the low down dirty GOP?” Have a nice vacation Congress!  You really are one of a kind!  Dead last.  To the rest of the readers out there, have a great week end, and steer clear of those wooden nickles thrown about by FOX “news” or haters like Rush Limbaugh.  Like war, they are not good for children or any other living thing.  Stay safe and have a great week end!  SEA you right back here next week! PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M
