“I have a dream”…MLK

Filed under: Blog, Uncategorized — Michael @ 2:18 pm

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the breezy, partly cloudy island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this Friday morning, the twenty third day of August, 2013, a nice one on Cape, Hyannis/Hyannis Port to be specific. As this summer season winds down and the tourists are going back home to put their children back to school, I hope you all get home safe and sound.  It  has been a great summer on the Cape and Islands and WE sure hope you all come on back real soon and visit US on this little sand bar created 11,500 years ago by the Last Great Ice Age.  Today marks the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.’s speech “I have a dream”, where he truly shouted down from that mountain top he climbed where he saw the promised land where all men are created equal and that Justice and Peace prevails over ignorance and hate.  Watching Reverend Al Sharpton on MSNBC’s stellar show, “Politics Nation” last night, airing weeknights at 6 p.m. eastern, I was not only reminded of that famous speech on that fateful day fifty years ago, but also brought up to speed by the heroic efforts of one woman who perhaps saved the lives of countless children as she talked a gunman, loaded to the gills with 500 rounds in an AK-47 like weapon only a few short hours ago in present day America.  Her humanity and grace under fire was explained, and not made that public I might add by most media outlets, via the 911 tapes that the good Reverend displayed for all to read and digest.  This could have been another Newtown incident, perhaps even worse, yet this lady of great courage, a teacher, brought the LOVE that is sorely lacking in this blessed country of ours full bear, bringing the gunman back to his senses, laying said gun down and not killing anyone at all.  Her bravery in the face of death is awe inspiring and I pray you visit Politics Nation. com for more details, in fact, it is the best news story this reporter has heard in quite some time.  I am sure that Martin Luther King Jr. would have been proud.  Have a great week end folks and may WE all pause for a moment and reflect on the year 1968 and indeed 1963.  Remembering what was at stake then, how WE overcame that hate and what still needs to be done in the present and indeed the future to bring people together in LOVE and PEACE–the only thing that leads to true JOY. PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS!

MV salutes you, Mr. President!

Filed under: Blog — Michael @ 4:23 pm

Greetings and salutations from the sand, sun and surf of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and the windy, sunny, temperate and gorgeous island of Nantucket! Great to be with you on this blustery day on Cape, Hyannis/Hyannis Port to be specific and I hope you are all enjoying your summer wherever this transmission may be reaching you and yours.  Today, perhaps about right now, the 10th day of August, 2013, a Saturday, the President of the United States, Barack Obama, blessed these shores with his choice of picking the stellar island of MV, or Martha’s Vineyard, for his much deserved vacation, a place steeped in history roughly seven miles due south off of the southern coast of Massachusetts.  His choice of Chilmark, once again, is a great thought; home to the great musicians Carly Simon and James Taylor who played at his second inaugural.   Musicians who found the magic here many moons ago.  Here’s hoping he will visit the equally historic town of Edgartown, on the east side of the island, as well.  Although a bit congested in the summer, it is still famous for the film, circa 1975, “Jaws”, starring Richard Dreyfuss, Roy Scheider and Robert Shaw, directed by Steven Spielberg. With all of the Great White Shark sightings of late, it may be fodder for the upcoming battles in Congress soon.  Sharks come in all forms, none so blatant (and this is not a ‘dis’ on real, natural wonders of the sea, i.e. sharks everywhere), yes, none come so blatant as the continued attacks coming from the down hill spiral republican party, who cannot seem to get out of their own way in regard to, in a word, ANYTHING!  They just do not seem to understand the concept of their own religion of choice, “Christianity”, whose main doctrine is the GOLDEN RULE“treat others as you would like to be treated”… Case in point, “Obamacare”, as many call it today, or, what it really is, “the Affordable Care Act” turned into law during Mr. Obama’s first term as President.  A landmark case that our Teddy Kennedy fought for his whole career–namely that health care is a basic human RIGHT!   The republican extremists are threatening another government shutdown if they don’t get their way on repealing this LAW that was once hailed by fellow republicans Bob Dole and the folks down at the Heritage Foundation.  Stockholm Syndrome 2.0 indeed, a syndrome where the captives, i.e. the American People, are told lies and manipulated into feeling sorry for their captors.  The true definition of that phrase.  For the meanwhile on this beautiful summer afternoon, I pray the President and his wife, Michelle and two wonderful daughters enjoy this magical little sand bar created 11,500 years ago by the Last Great Ice Age…picking up lots of seashells, watching the Osprey and seagulls fly overhead–the whales, dolphins and seals that frolic in that deep blue sea, only to know that they’re words never, ever mislead… Have a great day and week end folks and keep it tuned to seacapecod.net for all that is natural and TRUE to US ALL!  PRESERVE THE WILDERNESS! Peace~M
